  • I'm your slave

  • Even though I usually prefer Joan to Cherie with many aspects, I must say that I think I prefer hearing Cherie sing this song...I love the energy they all had, especially at the beginning when they were getting the audience to chant back at them. Best band ever :)

  • WE WANNA SEE THE PEOPLE!♥

  • At first i thought they were saying to say "eat your rice" O.O .... but i now it says "its alright" xD

    Joan Jett <3

  • 4:09 she says "Thank you!" in Japanese!

  • I can't get over that lighting yellow catsuit. Cherre, you look awesome. 1:25

  • Cherie came in too early on the extended intro, but they still pulled it off.

  • ...And I STILL love this video!

  • @ SoFreakingODD AND EVERYONE ELSE.. IF YOU LIKE RUNAWAYS YOU WILL LIKE LAURA WILDE.

  • @Hacker73 this isn't even their song. Settle down.

  • They kick ass. They weren't just damn hot, they had one of the best drummers EVER, some of the best composers, one of the best solists, and a great performance! Nothing's gonna reach them anytime soon!

  • awsome lml <3 the runaways

  • I listen to this version just to hear Joan say "She started dancing to that fine fine music .. " Daaamn lol

  • I love Cherie's petite sexy body in that gold outfit.

  • @XenoType008 it's silver, not gold. it shows up gold on this because it's an old video

  • I always thought Joan was/is a honey anyways, but a great close up of Lita's butt was certainly nice too..always wearing those soccer type shorts!!!

  • funny - and musically absolutely overrated. But it reached the heart and soul of lots of people in that decade. The records - and I bought them - belong to this time. They are NOT timeless. Hear to the original piece "Rock´n Roll" by Velvet Underground, written by Lou Reed. That is a timeless masterpiece. But nevertheless - I love this - call it naive - demonstration of 5 young girls who want to conquer the men-dominated rock´n roll scene.

  • Shit they're amazing.

  • Joan always seemed to me to be the one holding the band together when I see old footage like this. I think she had a lot to do with the Runaways almost miraculously stayin' around for as long as they did, as opposed to imploding messily like the Sex Pistols did, in only a matter of months.

  • Joan Jett should have sung the whole song. I'm on acid.

  • Fuck, man. I love the Runaways!

  • 32 people do not want their lives saved by rock 'n roll.

  • Why does not anyone do music like this anymore?

  • I love the Runaways.

  • Lol lita goes to go its alright agen afta cherie starts

  • :)

  • @maddieATL yeah. I just know someone whos name is maddie who loves ATL and Joan Jett. Im more of a Velvet Underground person. So awesome that the runawaays covered them!!!

  • @maddieATL do I know you? If so, ATL sucks, if not, ignore me.

  • interesting cover...

  • there is 666 coments, but i just ruined that lmao

  • at 15 she was the frontmen of the first rock all-girl band at about 40 she became a chainsaw artist, seriously... how can someone not like cherie currie!? (:

  • ya, you're definately right . Cherie Currie is an epic story, the first of it's kind. Trully rock and roll to the core. Rebellion at it's finest amoung young rockers of their time. And they definately broke new grounds, making history as they were the first girl band to ever do so.

  • Cant believe they were only like 15!! I'm older than they were then and i could do that if i tried!! lol :P

  • @lovexlovexlovexu Actually Cherrie was 17 and Joan was 19 back then...yet, they were a phenomena and not many could do what they succeeded.

  • @baba54

Oh? i thought they were younger lol my bad :/ They still did amazing :)

  • THAT'S A RUNAWAYS MASTERPIECE!... It always makes me cry in melancoly and beauty... Lyrics, music, melody... everything is perfect, as usual in that divine band, but this time, better than ever. Jackie's bass leads the music, giving unity by harmony. Lita and Joan fight in a duel of guitars. Sandy keep the "heartbeat" on her drums beating. And tragic Cherie explodes in passion, telling the stars drama. The girls were specially inspired.

  • lol, love the little wiggle at 2:20

  • If someone could help please figure out what lita is doing for the solo (lead break whatever) im trying to cover this version of the song thanks :)

  • dude didn't the velvet undergound write this??. i dont get shit... *sigh* i'm high.

  • @bluesboys101 this is a cover. VU did it first, the runaways covered it for their first album.

  • @bluesboys101 yeah lou reed/velvet underground but i've always loved this cover a lot more

  • i thought they were gonna sing led zep's rock n roll :))

    still good however..

  • Fuck mainstream, this shit is way better!

  • The Runaways was the first all-girl rock band that truly kicked ass. They went against all rules and did their own thing. Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Sandy West, Lita Ford, Jackie Fox... The true role models for women of this century!

  • Look my band and please tell what you think

This is our first show as The Runaways and Joan Jett cover we know we need to improve and next show is gonna be better! We have played School Days since 2.006 and then this year a bar asked us to play their songs.

  • people in this decade don't understand what good music is and now-a-days an all girl rock band would go no where because rock and roll has been brutally murdered by mainstream rap :(

  • there are many amazing singers and stars that embrace this style and even a 50s style and they could be a big part of bringing this up again. we can only hope. rock n roll > anything else!

  • I'd gladly trade Hana Montana, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry for these ladies (The Runaways) :D

  • Comment removed

  • @classicZOSO keep gaga, the last remnants of rock we have

  • Lita's shorts are not gold, they're silver. they just look gold in this video because the picture isnt good

  • i want to bring this back in, we need people like these not the crap thats out today

  • @SoFreakinOdd i would agree with that very much!

  • Lita and those gold shorts are forever burned in my mind ;)

  • DAMN.. Cherie's got some voice! :O

  • Such a big voice for a little girl. the Runaways fuckin ROCKED!!!!!! I wish I could find more cds, i LOVE them!!

  • BEST FEMALE SINGERS:

Cherie Currie. Tina Turner. Johnette Napolitano. Ann Wilson. Annie Lennox.

Chrissie Hynde. Suzi Quatro. Donita Sparks. Marie Friedriksson. Suzi Gardner.

Cass Elliott. Grace Slick. Irene Cara. Kim Carnes. Linda Lewis. Kate Bush.

  • Did they have any professional vocal training? I heard they didn't and they're really amazing

  • @christinadowitz No they didn't

  • joan jett<3 lita ford<3 two rock queens in a band...!

  • They were... The best.

  • I like the original version better, by The Velvet Underground

  • fuck they were good....why werent they bigger?

  • @ezmereldagreen They were big in the UK and China but never hat big in America.

  • Why do the greatest bands have to be SO under-rated and so under-appreciated? Simple: the Industrial "Music" SHITSTEM is ruled by PERVERT PSICHOPATICS who only want sell ROTTEN UGLY SHIT FAKES such as Madonna and Gaga and they want made us all a bunch of billions of MOROMS with NO sense of good taste for so good things and REAL TALENTED ARTISTS such as Runaways, Concrete Blonde, Bolshoi, Blondie, Irene Cara, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Carnes, Sandra, Laura Branigan, Randy Bush, Suzi Quatro...

  • @Andreas748 your full o'SH*T!! she is way prettier than gaga. & Is still very pretty! Cherie ROCKS!

  • We get it... IT'S ALRIGHT... Now get to the actually song, please!

  • @Andreas748 Actually, Lady Gaga looks like Cherie (;

  • @AmberTillotson No she doesn;t.Dont ever think that

  • @demigrl21 LOL I was being sarcastic (:

  • i wanna touch Cherie's outfit, I mean was it tin foil? haha jk, but it is super SHINY!

  • definitely wish I had a time machine.

  • It' always refreshing how 'lost' songs like that can sound brightest and funniest than today's 'work songs' or 'big hits'.

That's one more proof about how 70's RAW rock is SUPERIOR.

And yeah, you get it: that's why I DON'T HEAR ANY NEW MUSIC since 1994.

Fuck off all the new rock.

I had enough. I have the best: I have The Runaways.

  • Now we only have softy copy cats - really sucks

  • gente , a Sandy West :(

  • Jez after i saw them i know what i wanna b

  • They' re BEST' S !

  • the best singer : Cherrie Currie

the best solo guitar player : Lita Ford

the best bassist : Jackie Fox

the best drummer : Sandy West

and the best guitar player : Joan Jett

    THEY ARE THE RUNAWAYS

    AND WE LOVE THEM !!!

  • I wanna be like these chicks!

  • An interesting take on The Velvet Underground's classic.

  • These girls are the mothers of rock and will always be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better then the crap like hip hop, pop, and rap that causes our head aches today! Why do I hav 2 be 13 in the 21st century???? Why couldn't I be a teen back then???

  • The Runaways kicked wide open the gates for generations of all-girls rock n roll bands; but the most impressive is how radical they are in fit all the needs: they are the FIRST, the BEST, the BIGGER, the YOUNGER, the most BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, CUTTEST and the most TRAGIC. This finished any discussions. Perfect. A band made by God!

  • So wish I had a time machine.

  • @lauranamae meeeeee toooooo!!!!

  • Our parents generation produced this, our generation produced Beiber, where have we gone wrong?

  • One of the greatest "frontmen" of all time. A teenage girl.

  • @THINKTOYOTA nice ;)

  • Anyone who can dominate a stage with a tiny female frame, not to mention turn the word "school" into two syllables in Cherry Bomb, is my hero.

  • This is a kick ass song with a great guitar riff. Cherie is smokin' hot!!

  • and it was alright

  • Love Sandy <3

  • we have to stop regretting the past.

It is true that they were great. But there are plenty of equally talented female groups today. It's just, we have to find them.

It is true that "artists" like Lady Gaga and another are now the reference. And yes, it's sad. But it is. It is our job to search. Because we can't trust the Major to sign unsanitized groups actualy.

I'm french, so I hope you undestand my english despite my low level.

    Rock will never die.

  • *-*

  • this is perfect.

  • Cherie Currie had such an amazing stage presence :)

  • Girl´s can rock more,just sayn...

  • i was 14 or 13 years old and i was in love with joan and lita and still iam i dond care if joan is lez i love you joan

  • My God! Are these memories. I saw and met them in Amsterdam in 1977/1978. I even have pictures from one of the concerts in Paradiso. I still have books with pictures, articles, etc..... I adored them and even did win a price contest with an own written article about the Runaways. GREAT!

  • the runaways rules 4ever! you are rock and roll!

  • I wish i was born in the '60.

  • I was born at the wrong time. cant believe i missed out on this.

This right here was true rock n' roll :)

  • Runaways Rules!!!

  • They were one hell of a kick ass girl band,

  • Damn...Cherie Currie is hot

  • I LOVE CHERIES CURRIE'S BOOTS!

  • Comment removed

  • these girls are my idols just take off from their parents not givin a shit to start a a kick ass band HA! ya know things today are way to thought through- i doubt their parents agreed to the record comany about any of thing and they still got signed- now a days we'd have to go through a whole lotta hell with all the documents and the micro managment from our parents because of cell phones (not to say that cell phones arent awesome) i so wish would of gotten to experience the 70's generation :(

  • This is one song on their album that was just ok to me. That's because they didn't write it, it's a Lou Reed cover.

  • the daughters of Alice Cooper! Of course!

  • Everyone save rock n roll, this is awesome! what has our music come to today???? ITS SHIT TODAY@@!!!!

  • cool!

  • Holy fuck, this gives me shivers. Makes me wonder what happened to the music industry...

  • @kaeen Looks became more important than the music. Not to say these girls weren't beautiful, they are. I just think there's a lot less grit and heart in mainstream music these days.

  • @kaeen Everything changes, nothing stays the same and never will.

  • NoOne RoCKs like this anymore!!!!! aww it is SAD!! I love JOan jett on that guitar!

  • Cherie Currie: cute 'n sassy @ 1:34....sooo cute! Joan hits the best note when she sings "...saved by rock 'n roll!" @ 2:54. I gotta agree with a few other comments I've read about these vids when I say that I too wish I could've been around too see them live. Too cool, too cool indeed

  • po cara a dakota fanning teve ee manha ficou igualzinho rss ate e falta de peito rsrs

  • chiks r Beyond Bichn' and if u dont like 'em ur Phk'n KUKES!!

  • this is why the world needs a time machine. to escape the crappiness of recent music and go back to when music wasn't just for money. WHO EVER SAYS GIRLS CANT ROCK CAN GO SUCK IT!

  • The runnaways are hot

  • the 70s had girls that actually rocked..... now we have miley cyrus. -_-

  • @Artyfil we have taylor momsen

  • @gadfageyar funny

  • @Artyfil

Even worse we have Ke$ha -_- . i wish i was born in the 60's so i would have been in my teens by the 70-80's so i would of been old enough to go see them in live concert . Im 20 and i love Joan Jett and the Runaways!!

  • @cezcal20 I know how you fell lol

  • @Artyfil you should listen to thrush metal, they actually rock :)

  • @Artyfil You don't think there was sugar coated pop music in the 70's? Afternoon Delight? I've Never Been to Me? I mean seriously...you think The Runaways were a commercial success in the US back then? And there aren't any women who rock now? Hum....The Kills, Band of Skulls, Blood Red Shoes, Warpaint, Sleigh Bells, Crystal Castles, Sahara Hot Nights, to name a few....there are plenty of women out there rocking today. You compare rock of the 70's to today's pop. Makes no sense.

  • @amsyco

I still like 70's rock chicks better. sorry.

  • @Artyfil No reason to be sorry. 70's chicks are awesome. Just pointing out that there are a ton of women rockin' right now.

  • @Artyfil I 100 % agree!!

  • @Artyfil wake up we have a lot of band like the runaways today, like the donnas...

  • @Artyfil oh! miss hanna montanna actually rocks!!! she singed cherry bomb so she's an authentic bad girl ¬¬...LOL

  • @Artyfil why is everyone always talking about miley in videos that have totally no link with it. Miley is famous and yes she did a cover of this song, GET OVER IT. Everyone has the right to sing this song. Of course it changes from this hannah montana shit that she usually sings, but if she wants to try something wayyyyy better, wouldn't we have to be glad about this? Like she shows kids what's real music, what's wrong with this ?

  • @MelinaGlows this is a cover

  • @MelinaGlows by the velvet underground

  • @Artyfil I fuckin agree!! Sad where we're headed... can we do the time warp again?!?! lol

  • @Artyfil I agree...we need these kinds of girls again.

  • "las chcas no pueden tocar rock" jaja mentira!!!!! hacen mejor rock que muchos hombres!!!
