Well I dont know you and dont know if you're black, but I am of good age and been round the block and sure know what I heard and can read between the lines. She's not the only 1 get blinded by the lights. I'm not judging but I am allowed to comment. We all as black people have that scitso thing going on and if you dont know why or dont know what I'm talking about go study.
Are my ears hearing right? Did she just say "THE WHITE PEOPLE JUST LOVE ME?" Well I am black live in the UK and have love Chaka for the past 30 years since in my late teens and there are many more like me. Maybe we don't count. Her voice, spirit, power, sexiness, Lips, are outstanding and she is God gifted but just that one statement tells me she suffers from that same old "NIGGERDOM" disease that a lot of us suffer from. Heaven help us! Lord we need your blessings to love ourselves.
Fyabun, you have to keep in mind the time and era she grew up in. She didn't feel love from whites because of the prejudices she experienced. She loves being black. She was just overwhelmed by the fact that her music has brought her universal love, all races, colors and creeds.
It was a question (note the not one but two question marks at the end of the statement) therefore implying that I didn't know she had, had a drug problem.
Luv Chaka forever, but it looks like she was suffering during that period--the height of her popularity. One indication is only Pia Zadora and her momma could say good things about her. The other, as she's mentioned in her autobiography, she looks as those she was abusing drugs and alcohol. The concert footage was sketchy; the inteview, cheaply produced. This for a "international superstar" who's been on the scenes since atleast the early 70's?
