@HikuDraw When Mion didn't get the doll, she cried about Keiichi to Shion. Shion thought that it's unfair that Mion still has her crush near her, and then she thinked about Satoshi.... and started to kill everyone.

okay, so i thought i had higurashi figured out... but, in the end of the song, why does mion say something about the doll that wasn't given to her? Plus, in one of the episodes rika said that keiichi avoided a certain fate by giving mion the doll instead of rena, but wasnt that a false reason shion (imposing as mion) used to explain why she went, well, crazy? The doll really had nothing to do with shion killing everyone, right? or were the watanagashi and eye opening chapter in different worlds?

@HikuDraw Adding on to what Pantalaimonish said, Shion was mad about that fact that Mion cried so much about not getting the doll despite being able to see Keiichi, aka the one Mion had feelings for, while she herself had to try to be strong while having no idea if Satoshi was alive let alone where he was.

In the past, Mion and Shion had taken each others place, and when "Mion" got the tattoo, they had swapped. Shion had enough by this point and demanded the name "Mion" back, and to be acknowledged as the older sister again.

Tl:Dr/confusing: Shion was the older one the entire time, and they swap places often.
