Both good questions. You shouold be able to see whether they have a U nor a V shape on the underside near there tail. If it is a U shape it is a female and a V shape a male. As far as mating I waited until mine reached the size of about a large dinner plate approx. 12-14 inches across. They were 8 yrs old. They may be able to breed earlier.
I do not have any babies as of yet just eggs, approx. 120 of them. No they do not have anything to do with the babies once they are born. I will post videos of babies hatching if I can.
So far have not laid any eggs, they should have by now. I do know someone that has one that should be laying her eggs soon. If they hatch I will let you know.
I have two females, if and when they lay eggs around the end of July and the eggs should hatch around the end of September. I will be selling the babies. keep in touch.
