  • OUT

  • OUT OUT AND OUT

  • SAFE

  • of course hes mad, hes chinese, what does he have to look forward in life. Putting lead in americans toys

  • hes out by half of a step

  • safe

  • Rule 7.01 states that "A runner acquires the right to an unoccupied base when he touches it before he is out." Thus, the runner is out unless he beats the throw and/or tag to the base. Thats the actual rule, tie goes to the runner is just a popular saying among little league,

  • hes out

  • Out, and out of the game.

  • safe

  • safe

  • First, this is racist. Second he was out by a long shot.

  • kshay - if you read my post, you will not read where I said tie. I said that if the two arrive (ball and runner), the runner is safe because he has beaten the throw. The ball did not beat the runner to the bag. I don't know how the pro umpires get them right as much as they do with the way runners get up the line. thank you for your response. Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I should have been. have a nice.

  • You're all idiots. He's safe

  • If the ball and the throw get there at the same time - safe. If the throw beats the runner, he is out. Of course bang bang plays it is sometimes indistinguishable but at higher levels of baseball that is why the get paid the big bucks. Tough profession particularly for the guys who make it all the way through the minors into the majors.

  • @tacikcim wrong. you can never see it as the same time. in the world of baseball, there is no such thing as a tie.

  • hard to see it from that angle

  • I say out. And to clarify, there's no "tie goes to the runner" rule. There's no such thing as a tie.

  • Safe

  • @kutlessrocks yeah that rule isnt in the book, but if the runner touches the base before the ball gets there, then he is safe. therefore if they tie, the runner has still reached the bag while the ball is caught. if the ball is not caught and in contact with the base through the player before the runner touches the base, he is safe

  • he was safe, even the first basemen knew

  • camera quality makes it really hard 2 see cuz it loses focus right before it hits the glove but regardless it looks like hes out

  • Theres no rule saying tie goes to the runner because there is no such thing as a tie...the rule is that if the ball beats him to the bag, hes out...so if its close to a "tie" the ump usually will say safe since the ball didnt beat the runner to the bag.

  • actually there is a rule like that that exist but he is out by less than a half step

  • @RandomManAJS And no there isn't an actual rule.

  • Out. If you look closely the ball is inside the glove right before his right foot touches the plate. I had to do it frame by frame about twelve times and he was out every single time.

  • Out

  • safe

  • safe

  • OOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTT

  • He WAS OUT!!!!!!!!

  • Safe pause at 0:07

  • SAFE. and it was a bang bang play. surprise player wasent ejected

  • safe. close call but the ump called him out... id be upset too.

  • your out dude

  • safe

  • Out.

  • Safe

  • out

  • He was out guys He caught it right before his foot hit. runner was out!

  • Definetly safe. bad call

  • Tie goes to the runner

  • Nowhere is it said "Tie goes to the runner." It's implied, and most umpires see it that way.

Oh, and it's almost impossible to tell on this play because you can't really see the ball going into the glove.

  • @backdown12345 Actually, in conversations I've had with umpires regarding this myth, they say they are more likely to call "out" on a close play in order to speed up the game. This video seems to back that up.

  • safe tie goes to runner

  • safe

  • safe

  • safe.....maybe the 1st base ump was Jim Joyce!!

  • @Iowa5Hawkeyes hahahahahahahahaha but usually hes a good ump even if the guy at first was safe i would have called him out just because the guy diserved a perfect game

  • @Iowa5Hawkeyes he was out idiot

  • Umpire wasn't in correct position. Should have had 45 degree angle on the play. He was directly on the line when he saw the play and made the call.

  • out u retards learn how to play the game

  • safe he cought it way late bad call blue like usual

  • touch at the same time, he out.

  • out hes beat

  • 0:7 Yeah give me the cap souveghneir but your still going home packing

  • he was out

  • if u slow it down, or just spam the puase button,... he was safe. see for yourself?

  • @cowbob76 I agree, I just happened (luckily) to pause it right when he touched the base, and the ball was not there yet

  • Nice play

  • out and ejected

  • haha, just get a better hit next time then a grounder to second

  • yup.... safe..

  • Too close to call, so safe.

  • safe

  • he is safe if u pause it youll see that the ball is not in his glove and the runner is on base

  • safe

  • OUT

  • safe.

  • he was safe just look pause and youll see the ball isn't inside the glove when the runner takes the base

  • safe

  • Doesn't tie go to the runner.

  • no thats an incorrect baseball cliche however he was safe anyway

  • out

  • safe

  • all the idiots who say "tie goes to the runner" look in the rule book and when you find that rule let me know.

  • it's not in the rulebook. But most refs are dumb enough to do it. Refs give them runner the tie 99% of the time.

  • WRONG!!! WRONG!!! WRONG

There isn't such a thing as a tie, because ether your SAFE or your OUT - Let the play tell you what you should call. In this play the 2nd baseman made a great play and a goo throw - OUT

If he knocked it down then picked it up or made a crappy throw - SAFE

  • I didn't say it was right, but when the play is considered a tie by the blue, they call em safe 99% of the time, which is all I said. And just because they make a nice play doesn't mean they get the out. The ump calls the tie whichever way he feels is right, which just happens to go to the runner. Just like the give SS and 2nd basemen the benefit of the doubt when they throw drag their feet close (but not on) to 2nd base. It's a game of shortcuts and beliefs, and the blue decides what those are.

  • dude your dumb there is such thing as a tie. but if its a tie the runner is safe

  • thank you I guess

  • @kutlessrocks The rule is stated as "the player is out when the throw beats him to the base". So if it's a tie, the throw didn't beat him, and he is safe.

  • @virgonomic The point is there are very close plays, but not ties. If he beats the throw he is safe, if he did not beat the throw he is out. There is no mention of a tie in the rules, so ties do not exist in the game of baseball. "Ties" are the the biggest myth in the game. It is a sandlot rule made up by children.

  • @kutlessrocks u didnt that the tie always goes to the runner. lol thats funny. thats the first first rule u learn retard.

  • @kutlessrocks Are you fucking stupid? If it's a tie its safe. I am a certifed umpire in the state of Ohio. If tie, runner is safe.

  • @LTandlonghornfan81 in ohio? ya, you must be right then. i havent gotten a SINGLE umpire here your years that knows that the fuck he is doing. all umpires here in ohio suck. go fucking learn the game.

  • @LTandlonghornfan81 If you are a certified umpire in Ohio and you think a "tie goes to the runner" then the certification test is severely flawed. Nowhere in the rules does it say a tie goes to the runner. You are incapable of determining a tie. The human eye/brain can not react that fast to see a tie. Safe/Out, those are the options. Man up and make the best call you can, and leave the sandlot rules on the sandlot. You are being paid to know and enforce the actual rules of the game.

  • @vrininger The instructor specifically said tie-runner looks it up dude it will say that anywhere.

  • @LTandlonghornfan81 Then your instructor was on the same drugs that you are on DUDE. You look it up, show me in an official rulebook where it says anything about a tie going to the runner. It does not exist! State the rule by section and sub-section. You will not be able to do it. It is a sandlot rule made up by kids and apparently used by lazy umpires who do not take the time to actually read the official rules of base...LIKE YOU!!!

  • @kutlessrocks thats just a rule mad up for pick up games and kickball. nobody uses that in the pros.

  • @kutlessrocks ok. i'm letting u know now.

  • @kutlessrocks If it's a tie, it's always going to the runner.

  • @kutlessrocks theres a book? Goddamn

  • @kutlessrocks so what buddy? If the guys foot and the ball get there at the same time, he's out? Logically speaking, that just sounds fucked up.

  • @kutlessrocks Got this directly online. It's an implied rule which there are a lot of in baseball. Tie Goes to the Runner? There is no rule that states that a tie goes to the runner. Well at least not in those exact words. The portion of the rule in section 6.05 that applies to this states, "A batter is out when after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base."

  • @tryithere Since the rule states "before", it is easy to assume that a tie does in fact go to the runner. But, since this is a judgment call you won't win an argument by yelling "a tie goes to the runner".

  • @kutlessrocks FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS

  • @kutlessrocks Absolutely. Though he was safe.

  • In theory, shouldn't a tie go to the fielder because an ump looks for the foot to touch the back and listens for the ball hit the mitt. Since light travels faster than sound, if he thinks they get there at the same time then the fielder actually caught the ball first. I AM SUCH A NERD

  • No doubt about it you are a big time nerd... But damn you have one hell of a point.

  • The ump is far enough to see it all, and besides that would make the sound travel slower than the reflection of light off of the base and the shoe. Therefore it should go to the runner based on your theory.

  • No, if the ump sees the runners foot hit the bag then that reaction is the speed of light. if he listens to the ball hit the fielders glove then that reaction is the speed of sound. The speed of light is faster than the speed of sound. If the ump thinks they happened at the same time then the ball was caught first.

  • @mavsdestroy but the ump just looks at the base not both the base and the 1st baseman at the same time. he listens for the pop of the ball into the mit and determines if the runners foot hits the base before the ball gets into the 1st basemans mit

  • omg that was safe

  • safe

  • safe all u people who said tie does not go to the runner are dumb, TIE GOES TO THE RUNNER BECUZ THE BALL DID NOT GET THEIR BEFORE THE RUNNER DID

  • you fucking retard, tie goes to the runner means the ball and runner arrive at the SAME time.

If the player or the ball arrives first then the other it can't be tie.

  • that was just a tad tough but i would have to call safe because it looked like the runner had his foot touching the base just before the 1st baseman caught that ball.

  • you're dumb..a tie he is out...the runner is NOT SAFE...he is out..common knowledge.....the defense is a train...the batter is a car..if they smash into each other...who wins????

  • SAFE

  • tie does NOT go to the runner...if its a tie runer is out

  • Comment removed

  • You stupid or something. Tie is safe because the ball did not beat the runner.

  • safe

  • The pitcher is blocking the firstbaseman's glove at the critical second.

The runner took an extra short stride, he should have touched with his left leg but he made an extra little stutter step, that is what made it so close.

I think he was safe anyway but umpires will usually call anything close at first as out.

  • no replays needed...safe all the way umpire must be texting his wife or drug dealer or something when this happened :)

  • if you pause it correctly you'll see the ball isn't in the glove yet when the runner reaches the bag.

    He's Safe.

  • he's safe he was already past the bag when the first basement caught it

  • safe "tie goes to the runner"

  • safe by a mile

  • out

  • OUT

  • out by like a milsecond

  • he was more than safe the ball didnt get there until his second leg hit the bag

  • safe

  • out

  • Safe. Close. Rt foot on the bag before or simultaneous w/glove impact.

  • stop at 7......you can clearly tell its a tie

  • He's out and sent home.

  • Safe but number 21 is in the way

  • safe. pause it at 0:07 and you can see the ball isnt in the glove of the first basemen and he is past the bag.

  • So what as an ump your supposed to hear the snap of the ball to the glove and the runner hit the bag,

  • out

  • safe

  • out. cuz there is no tie.

  • safe

  • tough call i say out tho...

  • safe

  • when you pause when the 1B has the ball you cannot tell whether or not his foot is on the bag it looks like it isnt i say out.

  • what a racist description. 'chinked its way through' - ur a dick

  • HAHA saw that, couldn't help but laugh

  • safe ultimently

  • Safe Barely

  • out

  • SAFE!

  • SAFE.. too bad for that dude

  • fake.. this isn't mlb...

  • to completely technical for all you tie goes to the runner fans. There is no rule that states that. The real rule is in order for a runner to be safe he has to beat the ball to the base. since he tied with it he did not beat it so he is out.

  • thank you! =) I hear to many people say "tie goes to the runner" When, in reality, there is no "tie". The Runner either beats it or he doesn't

  • 0:07 out

  • they got him hes out

  • Hate to point out the obvious to stupid people who claim "tie goes to the runner".... THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A TIE. If the runner reaches the base at the same time the ball does, then he is on the base when the ball reaches the fielder's glove. It's not a tie. But safe just the same.

  • actually on a "tie" they r out

  • tie goes to the runner safe

  • HE WAS SAFE

  • wtf that was safe

  • SAFE

  • safe

  • I don't get it. What is so special about this video? And as for "tie goes to the runner", that's crap. Tie goes to the umpire. I think I want my 21 seconds back.

  • i'd say tie goes to the runner except on a nice play liek that

  • SAFE

  • out

  • I say he just hits a base hit so he does not get mad...

  • OUT

  • OUT

  • out

  • baseball is just a a game of jazzed up rounders

  • stop as soon its 0:07 and you'll see he's damn out

  • out

  • OUT

  • SAFE!

  • safe

  • OUT

  • i've been in a situation like that before. it sucks.

  • OUT

  • safe, the ball bounced he was already on top of the bag

  • out at :07

  • definition of a bang bang play but hes safe

  • close, but he is out.

  • Very close i say Out but it was close.

  • It was a good close play so the ump gave it to the fielder.

  • good call

  • Looks to me like a tie so safe
