Seems that hurts you a lot isn't it? Well you cannot change anything. Carry on writing here your hate comments but you cannot change our 'Mauritian' thought. Proud not to be Indian.
'......as people become more educated on the genealogy....'
Are you saying that the present generation is not educated? Well could you try to educate your own Indian ppl for a moment? At least we do not spit on the road, shit on the road, stare at others women, talk loud in public, talk loud on mobiles, smell of curry, mis-behave in public, boasting as if we are 'expert', we are not casteist or sexist, etc...etc..like you people are. Such qualities are framed in your mind
Look just because your from the village areas of Mauritius i.e. Vacoas (and no its not part of Rose Hill/Curepipe/Port Louis)...you probably do all the above....
You probably spit on the road, shit on the road, stare at others women, talk loud in public, talk loud on mobiles, smell of curry, mis-behave in public and not forgetting casteist or sexist...Chamar!
Am from village areas in Mauritius. So does that mean you are more brainy than me since you are from towns? Or probably more backward (and self centred) as you always are? From what i can read you are backward since you mentioned vacoas is not a town.

WTF is chota barat I thought that was a shoe store, but anyways, we are talking about genealogy and I'm saying that the numerical majority of Mauritians are of Indian heritage.I am also saying that most British Born Mauritians under 30 (and sometimes older) in London think and act like they are of West Indian Heritage. The majority of Mauritians are not black and cannot be classed as such. That is all I intended to say.
Well I am like that as well and proud to act like that. Or rather should I act like in those girly Bollywood movies to please your Excellency? Could be u r the one living in the dark ages and you are the 'retard' here by not willing to change. We are not Indians but Mauritians. Our motherland is Mauritius. Am I making myself clear?
yea? and what is my roots? watching girly Bollywood movies night & day, drinking cow piss and showing off like madmen, talking loud in public, smelling of curries, staring at others' women....should I add more to this list? sorry mate, thats your roots. Seems to me you are proud of those roots but not me.....& its not my roots. Carry on to water those incredible roots of yours.....
Who cares abt Indian heritage? You do probably care as its your business but not us. Or rather I do not give a damn about it as I have better things to attend to. The majority of BBM are right in their behavior as their elders already approve it . Or do they need permission from your Excellency who is a 'retard'? C'mon mate...mind your own business. We r happy as we are. Seems u r unhappy to see that.....well u will always remiain one.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
First of all, I don't give a fuck how you act, be it black or white, and secondly if you don't care about your heritage, what do you have to be proud of? Nothing, and so you look to other cultures and copy them, this is my point, I hope your retard brain can comprehend it.
I do not think you understand me...do you? Are you so thick?
First, we act as we want . Secondly we are proud of ourselves. Also if we don't copy we create. Indians like yourselves are the known to copy others (see Bollywood).
well actually my issue is resolved. U r turning it to be unresolved. I am happy with my status but it seems to me that you are the one who is trying to make a fuss here by turning my happiness into being unhappy. Typical Indian...
Since when has Vacoas turned into a village now? I am from there. If u r not from MRU then I suggest U do read abit abt the towns/villages of MRU to educate urself more. Vacoas/Phoenix are twinned towns. Even Goodlands is applying to get town status at the moment and so is Mahebourg (which was the previos capital of Mauritius in the 16th century). And what does 'Chamar' means? Are u playing caste system here? We r not India, mind u.
...Lol like the '...Even Goodlands is applying to get town status.." when you leave your bubble and experience the world then you will know what I mean otherwise shut-up and keep to your mudhuts...
newdevinedj what are you saying ? Only creoles can act like black people in London? Is that a 'Law' coming from you or what? You are the most dumb person for writing such a silly thing. Nobody has ever said such ridiculous comment before. Probably yu can start writing books on that...fucktard!!.
And look for who is talking about Indian traditions at the moment. Let me remind you that many Indians in London/NYC behave not like Indians but in Bollywood style. So you are copying Bollywood at the moment not India. I suggest you learn your own culture for a moment (or is it Bollwood culture).
As for you cmorebut probably you are a bit irritated when Mauritians say they r not Indians. Could you you want to extend the Indian dispora here? Well you are mistaken coz we are different from you and you can write whateva you want , you cannot change the thoughts. Mauritians are Proud not to be Indian and not born in India.
Of course we are proud to be 'coconuts'. Can you say that? In your case you will always remain a foreigner. We prefer it to be like that in fact. I guess that hurts you coz you are 'trapped between cultures' and you have to stick with your ancestral culture. Again, we are proud not to be born in India and not affiliated with you guys.
WTF are you talking? Are you saying we are coconuts? What a disgusting comment coming from you. You should be someone from India for writing that....as usual. Well as a credit from you, yes we may be like coconut : white from inside and brown from outside, but you are fucking brown both inside out as a dead coconut. Take it as a compliment. Indian prick.
interesting, in Trinidad we make the dhal puri the same except we add some garlic, pepper and roasted jeera (cumin) powder to the dhall filling which gives it a wicked kick, and we also eat it with chicken, or goat or shrimp curry rather than vegetable curries.
Trini, I am Guyanese. We make it the same. Goes with the curry but we also have a very thin one which is served as a snack and is served like they did it. Served with sour or chutney.
stop fighting guys, we all r mauritians, we all know the history, ancestors, slavery etc.....we r not second generation of india...huh c'mon...u 4gt chinese, african, what about 'milates'? do they come from india? alors paul beranger indian?

Go look in the mirror and look at your face...and then tell me you are 'Mauritian'....this serious lack of acknowledgement is similar to how some black west-indian folk (not all) dont recognise their African roots....sad but true.
yea I looked in the mirror, and I can tell you that feel, I am and I breathe ' Mauritian'. We do not care about what you feel or how others describe us Get lost in your own world and stay there.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
My ancestors are from India like the majority of Mauritians. cmorebut has a valid point, and it's true that some of you suffer from the angst of which is shared with 'black west-indian folk [who] dont recognise their African roots....sad but true.'
If your ancestors are from India, then stay in India then. You can watch Bollywood everyday and start acting in in those girly movies. Luckily am not from there....proud to be not from India.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Your ancestors may come from India or British India as it was then called but then the majority of Mauritians are not from there. I do not know here you read that probably in the Indian media, they like to distort everything....you are not a real Mauritian and hence you cannot understand....sad but true.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hindus make up 52% of Mauritius according to wikipedia. Only the Indians follow Hindusm in Mauritius. 52% is a majority, now matter how you look at it. Your argument is invalid, madam.

Again, you are not a real Mauritian, you won't understand!!! If wikipedia is your fountain of knowledge, well carry on reading it. It may have been written by yourself probably.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that you were authority on such matters as determining who and who isn't a 'real' Mauritian. You seem to exhibit the traits of someone who is ignorant, racist, dim, self absorbed and living in a make believe land. Your arguments are at best silly and and at worst retarded. Put simply, you are the equivalent of a Mauritian redneck. Good day, madam.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Really? What about you? You exhibit the traits of someone who is trying to impose his belief on others from the rubbish you read ellsewhere, you are self centered, close minded, abstract, baseless, and living in a cuckooland. You are just one of those retarded Indians who pretend to know everything they read from their distorded Bollywood media.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you still believe yourself to be right, then so be it - we agree to disagree....otherwise embrace your heritage, the motherland and above all the truth.
My heritage is Mauritian heritage, put that clear in your mind. We r all Mauritians here except ppl like you disagree to agree. Our motherland is Mauritius also and not India although there is govt interference from French/Indian/RSA at the moment.
Carry on talking you nutter. You are offending people here by saying our motherland is India. Could be where you come from yours is India coz u r a refugee. We have got our own status here and we can define ourselves. Seems you are unhappy abt that. Well you are a plonker.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
People....your typical of many Mauritians who believe that they have always been on the small island of Mauritius since time imemorial. The truth is your a second-generation from India, do you honestly believe that 'dhal-puri' (think about it carefully...the clue is in in the name)...is a dish that originated from Mauritius or India.
Mauritians are 2nd generation from India? Where have you heard or read about that mate? I guess you should read proper mauritian history b4 saying nonsense here. We r multiracial here. My ancestors are not from India ok? That is just absurd. Do your homework b4 writing nonsense here. As goes for 'Dhal-puri' can't you read everybody here is saying its a Mauritian dish? Its only you disagreeing. Get a life you loser.
Can I reply to you on that? As an Indian I would say that Indian food will have of safran, crushed chillis, crushed mustard, lots of ginger and some masalla. mauritian food is renown to be plain, but more healthy otherwise (same as the video) . Indian food tends to be more spicy, hot and typical 'curry like'. Even the curry style in Mauritius is light as its just adapted to the locals. Indian curry / food is 10x stronger unlike here in the video. At 15s we just see flour...
Same goes for pizza. Nowadays we see Japaneze Pizza, NY pizza, Chicago Pizza, Singapore Pizza etc...Although the real stuff comes from Napoli (South Italy) but everybody modifies it to tastes. Therefore, its a Mauritian food we are watching here far from the Indian way....but its nice or nicer though.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No people...this dish is an Indian dish brought over by Indian migrants...dont assume everything is 'Mauritian'....come on people wake-up up and smell the coffee...duh!!! (recognise where you coming from)....
cmorebut : The dish could be originally from India but at the moment the preparation reflects typical mauritian style. The modern generation of mauritian generation will confirm that.
you may be wrong here.....if you see the different stuff that have been incorporated in the flatbread, you will see its Mauritian. Not everthing is Indian...come on...I think you need to wake up...

In india we get the sweet version called Poli, stuffed with sweet fillings of peas and coconut. And the taste is way off the one here....Mauritian Dhal Puri is a blend of salty and a pinch of spices and beleive me, u will crave for the original one wen u r abroad.
when you are hungry, one would not care of he speaks good english or not, he tried his best. well done my friend ! he only forget to tell us, one should use Australian flour for this:- thanks for mailing
Mary serieux!Mais manque un deux ingredients la dans man, apres Dalh pouri quand ti national food, it is one of them we have so many good food on our island.
okay not to be a meanie, but this recipe seems to be lacking, I watched the video directly on food safari and you can clearly see the texture of the dhol pourri isn't the same as the ones sold on streets (more like yellow farata).

That is all I intended to say.
newdevinedj 2 years ago
newdevinedj :
'...act like they are of West Indian Heritage...'
Is there anything wrong in that?

First of all, I don't give a fuck how you act, be it black or white, and secondly if you don't care about your heritage, what do you have to be proud of? Nothing, and so you look to other cultures and copy them, this is my point, I hope your retard brain can comprehend it.

First, we act as we want . Secondly we are proud of ourselves. Also if we don't copy we create. Indians like yourselves are the known to copy others (see Bollywood).

And look for who is talking about Indian traditions at the moment. Let me remind you that many Indians in London/NYC behave not like Indians but in Bollywood style. So you are copying Bollywood at the moment not India. I suggest you learn your own culture for a moment (or is it Bollwood culture).

Of course we are proud to be 'coconuts'. Can you say that? In your case you will always remain a foreigner. We prefer it to be like that in fact. We make it in Guyana in South America.

interesting, in Trinidad we make the dhal puri the same except we add some garlic, pepper and roasted jeera (cumin) powder to the dhall filling which gives it a wicked kick, and we also eat it with chicken, or goat or shrimp curry rather than vegetable curries.
shfullclip9mm 2 years ago
Trini, I am Guyanese. We make it the same. Goes with the curry but we also have a very thin one which is served as a snack and is served like they did it. Served with sour or chutney.

People....your typical of many Mauritians who believe that they have always been on the small island of Mauritius since time imemorial. The truth is your a second-generation from India, do you honestly believe that 'dhal-puri' (think about it carefully...the clue is in in the name)...is a dish that originated from Mauritius or India.
cmorebut 2 years ago
Mauritians are 2nd generation from India? Where have you heard or read about that mate? I guess you should read proper mauritian history b4 saying nonsense here. We r multiracial here. My ancestors are not from India ok? That is just absurd. Do your homework b4 writing nonsense here. As goes for 'Dhal-puri' can't you read everybody here is saying its a Mauritian dish? Its only you disagreeing. Get a life you loser.

cmorebut 2 years ago
@cmorebut ;
