@b0b1919 Even I somewhat feel the same way but this was actually written during kevin moore's time. But yes, Rudess does tend to overplay things that is kind of similar to portnoy.

I think their best work is somewhere around 1997-99. Though train of thought has some amazing compositions(eg stream of consciousness).

Octavarium on the other hand does seem to fit
