Got to get in this big bad bird when it was at Whiteman AFB, home of the 509th BW. Anyway sure is a tight fit crawling up to the nose for a guy whose 6ft tall and weighs 210 pounds lol.
I got to tour it aand they were testing the engines and I got to be in it when they did. They had a bad spark plug and were finding which cylinder wasnt firing. they fixed it and ran it up to 2000 rpm, very loud without a headset but it sounded great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 29, 1969 sold, to Glenn Lamont (pilot) and registered 'NX3774'. My Dad was a pilot in China with 14th A/F 22nd Bomb squadron called the "Battl'n Bulldogs". He loved the B-25 and made friends with Glen, years before Dad died Glen took him up for 1 more flight. This took place at Willow Run (Yankee Air Force).
One of the great birds of WWII (also one of the finest sounding). As an old pilot said, "The B25's were the loudest planes on the flightline". He said the engines have no exhaust collectors and therefore are quite loud. Great video. Yellowbird774 has posted several videos here and they are all awsome. Very good camera work and sound capture. Thank you for sharing these with us - Five stars
Love this video. There is nothing like the sound of the radials on a B-25. I was told by a member of the crew of the 'Yankee Warrior' out of Willow Run Airport in Michigan that the reason they sound so good is they have a seperate exhaust tuned for each cylinder, like headers on a high performance car motor.
pretty interesting fact: the Boeing B314 Clipper had the exact same engines as the B-25. so at startup, they sounded like this.

Jim was in my DC-3 class a few months ago. I'm going to Dallas in a month to get type rated in his B25. Crazy small world.
