Filling your tires with helium would save you a few pounds per tire but containing helium could be a problem without proper sealant.

With the hollow space Idea you could put helium in each wheel to reduce unsprung wieght without reducing strength at all. Just picture a wheel that has as much internal space as possible. Is it possible to fill ordinary tires with helium? I bet it would help alot especially off road racing.

The German side of BBS (OEM / aftermarketcast wheels) went insolvent. However the Japan side (Washibeam Co., Ltd) the factory that forges all of the BBS Magnesium / Aluminum racing wheels (F1/GT/Indy/LeMans,etc) did not, and was not affected by the German side going out of business. The Japanese side also does work for other Japanese wheel-makers.
