Thanks dude, this came in real handy given the past few days worth of lost email. I didn't have to override any of the factory default ports the first time I set it up, but after seeing news today that yahoo was back up, it still failed for me to reinstall/resetup. So I found this, followed exactly your numbers and now I'm rollin' again. Thanks a big hard one!
My virgin mobile used to work with the settings the video explained. But then one day i guess virgin changed something on their technical side and my email stopped working. Was like this for 1mo till i entered the additional "android" extension to the incoming/outgoing settings shown below. THANKS CHRISCHRIS :) emails working again
This got me further than I was before but it makes me turn on WIFI and then says to check the username & password. I have done this several times but it wont let me go any further. ANY IDEAS? I really would hate to change everything to a different email account.
I just bought an HTC desire yesterday, and it wouldn't let me go past the first page without turning on my Wi-Fi, so then it gave the message "Authentication failed" and check username / password (which are both good) Any ideas of how to get it to think wifi is on?
HELP! I did this and when I receive an email, it refuses to alert me by sound? It will only vibrate. I checked the notification sounds box in my settings BUT it only vibrates. Can anyone help me fix this problem?????
I thought i was the only one with the problem of username/password incorrect.
Thx so much for your suggestion, i change the incoming and outgoing server to your suggestion and now it works perfectly. Thx again for your help. ^^ (galaxy s)
@Bradman1352... yes it does send email straight to your phone with a notification when you get one... I just got one and my emails are coming straight to my phone.. I don't have to search on the browser to get it.
does the email on the droid 1 or 2 work like the email on blackberrys? do the emails come strait to the phone? or do i have to go onto the browser to check my email?... im planning on getting a droid 2.. but im holding out because i would rather not have to go onto the brower 20 times a day to check.... no body seems to have the answer (even google)... so i hope somebody on here can give me a strait answer... also,do driods have to be updated like blackberrys? thanks
Awesome video! Question though, I just discovered that when im deleting my email off of my Droid, its also deleting it from my server / computer! Is there a way to change this??? Blackberry has an option to delete from HANDHELD ONLY. Your response would be appreciated, thanks!!

hey man i just wanted to say thanks for pointing out that you CANNOT be on Wifi to do this, i spend an hour trying to figure out as ot why the heck it wasnt letting me get incoming mail, but after you pointing out that i couldn't be connected to wifi it worked like a charm. Youre a rockin fella.
Yahoo charges for Pop/imap access to the mail servers. They let the IP addresses of cell phone companies access them though for no charge. Those having problems are likely connecting over wifi or do not have a valid wireless ip address. This is not a bug nor will it ever be fixed. That is how Yahoo is. I'd switch to GMail but after 12 years of using Yahoo mail just can't change.
HTC Incredible. Worked great. Easy to follow. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF WIFI BEFORE STARTING. Any idea when the wifi bug is going to be fixed? Thanks a million.
you dont really address what to do when, after entering incoming server settings, if it STILL says "username or password incorrect" when they arent........
sweet. im gettin my droid soon, and im going to use this to setup for my comcast email (bleh i know, but its the one i've had since like 2001) and with the settings it looks like i can with POP3.
is there a way to set it up so that it only downloads the message but leaves a copy on the server so when i get home to check my email it downloads it?
Thank you soooo much. I have been trying for days to figure out this ridiculous email. You made it extremely easy. I do have a question though. Do you have to leave wi-fi off all the time for yahoo mail to work properly? Thanks

Great video...If it says something like UNABLE TO OPEN CONNECTION TO SERVER, just his ok and enter the smtp in all caps. just the SMTP part not the rest
Is there anyway you can magnify or increase text size while reading email. Text too small to read in email function only. Other apps have a magniverfier but have trouble reading email.

Mine was working for a long time . I also learnt to set up my email a/c here. It's been working till a few days ago. Now it doesn't work anymore.
I've keyed in several times, changed passwords, deleted it and sign in again, all to no success.
Phandroid, please advise!!!
