@didogazeto One of the missions in GTA3 required you to follow and kill a "strangely animated undercover cop" who is "more or less useless out his car". :D Not sure whether they named him as Tanner, but he was driving the same car. Actually Driver was pretty good for a PSX game (GTA3 was for PS2).

I've played GTA1 and GTA3 was my first real experience with GTA, but even so, I knew GTA1 was good so I got GTA Advance but what a pile of crap it turned out to be. I've not once finished it. Stories on PSP were no good either so I guess GTA is doomed to fail on portable consoels.

Gta as a series will always have a place close to my heart... Ive played every version of the game and i always have a softspot for the old Birdseye view games, they have character and any gamer who makes there opinion on a game purely on graphics does not deserve to be called a gamer, because a true gamer doesn't see games in terms of graphics they see them in terms of enjoyment re-playability and the skill it takes to master games. Why else would tetris still be one of the most popular games

I do wonder now where are they going to go with portable GTA games! Chinatown wars was very different to the PSP games it was a Pseudo 3D experience! its appearance on the PSP seems to have drawn a line under the "city stories" GTA games I am guessing we won't see another GTA game in this generation of handhelds and the next will be on a PSP2 and will be set in the GTA4 universe!

@YoutuJ3eJ3lows I've been playing GTA since the original for PSX in 1997. :-) GTA1, GTA London (an expansion pack for GTA1) and GTA2 were all top-down like this. GTA3 took it to a whole new level, and was the beginning of the main-stream popularity of the series. It may have even kicked off the crim-sim genre. The early games looked crude even when they were released, being more like a Commodore Amiga game than a fifth-generation console game. But this top-down style was where it started.

@Skeletty1710 GTA1 had two big barriers. One of them was that the player would be killed by a single hit from a bullet, and would instantly fail whichever mission he was on. The second is that when you failed a mission, you had no opportunity to try again. You could end up with no missions left in the city, and be so short of points that you could not reasonably progress (yes, you qualify to progress to the next city based on points, not storyline). It was pretty tough. :D

@leevclarke You know,the PSX isn't the same as the PS One they are complete different consoles,the PSX was a console/DVR released in 2003 only in Japan,it was unreliable and failed miserably from a market point of view. It played both ps1 and ps2 games so it had no ''exclusive'' games for it, you could record programs from a TV and I think the hard drive sizes were 160gigs and260 gigs. So in conclusion they are two COMPLETELY different consoles. ( sorry for my English, it's not my main language)

@Lintto1 I can only speak for the UK market, but the original PlayStation was known as PSX for short. It was given a cosmetic makeover after a few years, and a smaller version called PS One was released. It is confusing, because there was also a DVR called PSX, but that was only released in Japan.
