Jan 14 (Island) Quadrupple murder suspect’s house torched. The two suspects are brothers of the murdered sisters and they had been fighting for a share of the property. The house of the second suspect, now in remand custody, over his role in the killing of four persons of one family at Katiyawa in Eppawala, was set on fire. the murder of the four-member family included two middle aged women,20-year-old daughter and her disabled soldier husband.

Jan 14 (BBC) White Van abductee 'tortured in police' A Tamil Tiger suspect in Sri Lanka has detailed in the court the alleged torture in police custody after being abducted by a white van. Thyagarajah Prabhakaran, 24, a resident of Puttalam, in a petition to the Supreme Court state that he was abducted by a group came in a white van in Colombo, on 04 Feb 2009. Thereafter, police Crime Investigation officers (CID) detained him at an unknown location, which he believes could be in Wattala.
