Appreciate the basic tutorial. I'm really dumb when it comes to redstone. I can't fathom how people are building computers ingame with the stuff. I have a question though. How come when you have 3 blocks going across with a redstone torch on each end and you place wire between, one doesn't shut off, but when you place a torch on the side of a block, with wire between, it shuts down the torch on the wall? I don't understand. One of the reasons why I find it difficult to work with redstone,

@IceBloodedZero Hi. I'm not GREAT with redstone, but i think i can answer your question. When you have 2 redstone torches connected with redstone, both at the same height, both torches can act as input or output. However, if you sent power to a block with a redstone torch on it, it powers the block therefor turning off the redstone torch. (The block is powered by the lit wire inbetween the 2 torches. Hope I helped! :)

so are the dirt blocks just programmed in the game to function as gates according to how you place the blocks? I'm not sure how you are setting up each gate. How does it work building a gate? (I'm taking a digital logic class, and i'm to the point with flip-flops, so I kinda already know the basics of gates).

@lionsface98 Suppose you have two inputs (lever A and lever B), and two torches (torch A and torch B). Connect torch A to torch B with a single line of redstone. Then set down both inputs; connect lever A with torch A, and lever B with torch B. Then connect torch B to the output.

The inputs should be unlit, and so should the output. If you turn on one input, that should turn on the output. If you turn on both inputs, that should turn off the output.
