@natalie29ga I like Clem's line about how she hates men who think she completes them or somehow can fix them as she's, "Just a fucked up girl trying to find her own peace of mind." That line was so true & so classic. If you can't go into a relationship accepting of each others faults then ur in the wrong relationship b/c people don't change, not really. U have to be willing to accept the good, bad, & ugly along w/the gr8, memorable, & amazing that comes with it.

Really great movie. Maybe the best ever! I thought at the end it was just saying that we go through the whole thing of falling in love, being ok for awhile, then things fall apart and you just go back and do it again. In the real world we have to do it with different partners. Here they could start again because their memories were erased.

@tsanur I don't see that it has to be w/different people b/c in the end, they knew they had each other erased; they knew the worst of each other. It was a matter of remembering that moment in time & holding onto it thru the good, bad, & difficult times to something that could be potentially life-altering. I'm coming from one with a BS in self-destructing to avoid what I thought would always be fallout in a bad sense yet on 4/6, I'll celebrate my 20+ wedding anniversary. What's that say?

@PaisleyPlace At the end she says she will get bored and feel trapped and that he will think bad things about her. And he says yes that is true. So they are about to do it again with each other, but only because they have no memory of how it went bad. That is the view of the movie maker as I see it. It doesn't have to be that way. Lots of relationships don't go that way. Mine did. May you hang on to the moment and celebrate 50 years together some day!

@tsanur They had their tapes that the secretary sent to them so they know where they screwed up & that gives them the opportunity to get it right this time, so to speak... I think that gives hope at least. Btw, April will put us at the halfway mark (married); we're much closer as a couple b/c it took 5yrs for me to be comfortable enough to say yes to the proposal & then actually do it. It's not been easy but we've weathered the storms. Hoping we can keep doing so too.

@PaisleyPlace Good point about the tapes. And Joel did try to keep his memories and in that way save the relationship. And you could argue that because Joel fought so valiantly, that is the reason that the Dr. came to the house and that resulted in the secretary mailing out the tapes. And thus the ending is hopeful. I hope you both keep it going also. Very sweet.

@realplutonicmind9 I actually disagree with you. I just think that, this time the reason for this scene, the reason that they made mary send back all the tapes is to show the audience that they could have a second chance. That instead of forgetting their mistakes, they should learn from it. Joel, in the movie had said that he would change things, in the scene in montauk, where they were at the last memory, he regretted what he'd done. He wished that he'd done things different. And he did.
