Brings back memories of my world travel days looking and searching for a phone,a phone that even called Australia, paying large amounts for a one minute call then being cut off, to call back to this great land.No travelling with a mobile back then..Contact when you wanted contact.
john farnham replaced glen shorrock ,both lrb and farnham had the same manager, glen wheatley, farnham has a good voice, listen to help or burn for you, both glen and john were born in the u.k. and are still around in oz, both seem like good blokes
Wonderful. They must be one of the best bands to come out of NZ/Oz. This song is so complex, melodious and soulful. Genius. My friend knows someone who knows someone who's in the band. Apparently they are a real nice bunch of guys too.
@nzoz1977 they're good enough in my book. yes i like them alot better than some of the others i've heard and they cracked the u.s. market which alot of other auzzie bands couldn't. an american friend of mine thought they were yankees so that's high praise right there. :)
@Ganpignanus I don't want to come across as precious (God knows I used to), but cracking the American market is not an indicator of quality. If success was the result of quality, Mills & Boon would be unknown... but let's not get into that discussion. It's fair to say they are one of the most commercial and wildly appearing... best is not the word I would use and that's from somebody who likes LRB's music.
I know Australian music like the back of my hand and I know why many deserving bands failed to crack the American or world market - in spite of the quality of the music. Distance and money plays a major part and I will fight for the honor of many NZ/OZ bands who were more deserving... they were a fine band, but lets not go over the top and say they were one of the best; especially when it comes to individual taste.
@Ganpignanus Re-read what I had typed previously, before coming out with the laughs.

To answer your question: I am working on 40 channels based on every year of Aussie/Kiwi music. It would be illogical to exclude LRB. I really do not have time to connect the dots for adult men.
I really liked this song, so I asked my dad ( '70s Generation) if this song was 'cool' to listen too back in the days. He sad "yeah its ok, i heard it too.
Not 2 hours later i hear a remark on Family Guy saying... yeah thats for people who listen to the Little River Band meant as a bad thing :S
I was born in 1965 and i can tell you it was a great song to listen to back then, really belonged to the atmosphere of the 70's American sound!. Still like it very mch today
But I have a feeling this song might have sold the U.S. record company execs to perhaps give "Reminising" (sp?) a try to become the big hit it would become.
Let me set the record straight, the best way I can.
US radio began playing LRB in 1976 and that was with the song 'Curiosity Killed The Cat'. Their first US chart entry was 'It's A Long Way'. Frequent US touring during 1977 got many of their songs played on radio. 'Help Is On It's Way' was another US chart entry.
It's safe to say that this song was a minor US hit and just added to the US record exec's confidence in LRB.
Yes, That is how I remember it too. In 1977 they played a small club in Virginia Beach, VA., It was called the Rogues Gallery. I sat at a small round table in the front. They were perfect, sounding just like the record! The stage was vibrating in beat with the music. I remember Glenn saying, "We're 25,000 miles from home, thats a long way! Then they did the song, you guessed it... "It's a long way there"!
thanx mate... although i am thinking of uploading it again, because i am not happy with the picture motion at the beginning... seems to have this slow frame by frame look...

@Ganpignanus some influential people in the Australian music scene wouldn't think them as being one of the best... they're a fine band, no doubt.

@DDAANN1985
Back in the seventies the LRB was never considered a cool band to listen to.
We had some of the greatest rock being written back then so you had to have major talent to break in to the great band category
The were relegated to pop band status and had a nice run.

Hey Lujous,
Thanks for the reply. I already kinda figured its not in the line of the the Stones, Small Faces or Pink Floyd...
And yeah, the 70's had the best music in ages. The 70's was A time of freedom and just havin fun that reflected in the music.. i think :)

By 1978, LRB were taking flight.
That's how it worked.
