It's very tactical. a couple of rules in Doom 3: never confront your enemy face to face, always retreat while using a machine gun, alwasy advance while using a shotgun, and always ALWAYS dodge with sprint bursts. The game is FRIGGN hard on the difficult difficulty levels. And they do lots of things to make sure that the game never stops being scary, enemies spawn behind you? That's like the first two and then the fourt level! The game is very challenging and tactical at it's very deep core.

It's a painful and frustrating to find Monster A and try to switch to weapon B- only to get involved in a zombie clusterfuck during the period you switch to your weapon.
Which is what makes the game creepy, you look into a room and you're like, "Oh shit, do I need my light or my gun?" And you slowly creep in with a flashlight, then like an imp begins materializing and you quickly press the black button (for xbox) and switch to the shotgun and blast him twice to kill him before he does too much dammage, then you run away from any dark corners in the room and pan the room double checking everything before you switch back.. Sounds like your problem, not Dooms.
They wanted to keep to the roots of the original doom that is why their is none of ur Tactical shit n i think it was a good call. game would of sucked if it was tactical. FEAR? Mmm, no, Doom 3 is still scarier. Not anymore however, after beating Doom 3 a couple of times, I can probably get more scared plaing FEAR a second and third time. But on my first playthrough, Doom hands down.
Lol, when i played thru Doom 3 i got spooked only twice of 3 times as i remember, throughout the whole game.
Doom 3 isn't scarier because of its nature - in Doom 3 the scares are in style of american horror films, its the old "monsters jump out of closets" and the scare is only for a reaction.
In FEAR, you get scared every level, and the scares go thru your skin, and stay in you for a lot longer time.
Like the the atmosphere, the gore and everything, there ARE times when stuff jumps out at you, but that never really scared me, the creepy sound effects and lights going out is what creeped the hell out of me.

Chris I am not gonna lie to you, you will get scared, and freaked the hell outta you, I highly recommend playing it at high, lights out with sound up.
you have to play on nightmare mode to get any satasfaction really otherwise its incredibly easy......the good points in doom 3 are obviously graphics and its pretty long but the guns are so weak sounding and the enemies are pretty stupid i still loved this game though coz of classic doom.......
love the part where you can choose to go down the long corridor if you want the chain gun. Once you start backing out the corridor fills with bad guys.
Their are a few memorable moments, but with allot of drudgery in between. They didnt reward us with enough change of environment.
i rather play it for the pc cause better controls cause you always can get a game controller for the pc so i give the xbox version 8.0 and pc version 8.5 both very cool games
except in the pc version along with some levles being bigger and a couple of levels being more detailed( like the first level which puts the xbox1 level to shame and the monsters had drool but the graphics were still almost has good but xbox 1 version has a kick ass online co-op that was not in the pc version
i had a doom attack the other day and went to gamestop and picked it up and got the B/C u[date for my 360...great game....if ue a doom fan, the graphics are 3 years old but they can hold their own since the B/C download for the (so u can play this xbox1 game on your 360) also upscales to a 720 p res(instead of 420) so it looks at lot better on 360 than xbox one...even better than a lot of wii games still pc version had more beef to it but xbox version graphics were dead on
Doom 3 PC was the better version. It had the more level design and gave more scares. The only way the xbox version scared me was when the (full) imp tried to get at me through the un-breakable glass.
then again a pc is upgradable, so they can put more stuff in because you can always increase memory. on the xbox you have to play it straight from the disc at a set graphics level. this in turn is why the pc is longer and looks better.
This guy has obviosly never played it at night, alone, and on hard. My best friend doesnt get scared of anything and so far in Doom he has jumped more than me. It is scary!

I agree, but remember that if you keep playing it over and over again, the scare factor starts to wear down.

Chris I am not gonna lie to you, you will get scared, and freaked the hell outta you, I highly recommend playing it at high, lights out with sound up.

you have to play on nightmare mode to get any satasfaction really otherwise its incredibly easy......the good points in doom 3 are obviously graphics and its pretty long but the guns are so weak sounding and the enemies are pretty stupid i still loved this game though coz of classic doom.......

love the part where you can choose to go down the long corridor if you want the chain gun. Once you start backing out the corridor fills with bad guys.
Their are a few memorable moments, but with allot of drudgery in between. They didnt reward us with enough change of environment.

i rather play it for the pc cause better controls cause you always can get a game controller for the pc so i give the xbox version 8.0 and pc version 8.5 both very cool games

this game is alright on xbox
but the intro level of the pc is cut out in the xbox version which suchs bevause you can to the poor man at the space port

except in the pc version along with some levles being bigger and a couple of levels being more detailed( like the first level which puts the xbox1 level to shame and the monsters had drool but the graphics were still almost has good but xbox 1 version has a kick ass online co-op that was not in the pc version

i had a doom attack the other day and went to gamestop and picked it up and got the B/C u[date for my 360...great game....if ue a doom fan, the graphics are 3 years old but they can hold their own since the B/C download for the (so u can play this xbox1 game on your 360) also upscales to a 720 p res(instead of 420) so it looks at lot better on 360 than xbox one...even better than a lot of wii games still pc version had more beef to it but xbox version graphics were dead on

Doom 3 PC was the better version. It had the more level design and gave more scares. The only way the xbox version scared me was when the (full) imp tried to get at me through the un-breakable glass.

then again a pc is upgradable, so they can put more stuff in because you can always increase memory. on the xbox you have to play it straight from the disc at a set graphics level. this in turn is why the pc is longer and looks better.

I was disappointed with this game at first, but gave it a second spin on Hard difficulty and it's a good bit more fun now.
