  • Umm, I have been power washing decks for years and years. In the wrong hands, a power washer can damage wood, but only to the point where it leaves scarring. You cant "Kill" something that is already dead. Power washing Opens the grain, and allows stain/sealer penetration. Cleaners do not open the wood grain, and the stain/sealer job fails much faster. My deck jobs last between 2-5 years. Would you rather pay someone or pay for materials more often, or less often? This is a sales video people

  • I have a product that will eliminate all the steps above, all you have to do is spray the cleaner and wait few minutes then hose off. This is a green cleaning product were you do not have to cover anything. watch videos

  • I have a deck that looks Pacific fog. Just want to know how to stain it again. Where can i find the pacific stain?

  • Seriously? 1)Never sand a deck, it closes the grain. 2) Don't roll anything, only use a brush. Spraying is a great way to apply the stains, but you must back brush following the wood grains only. 3) cheap household bleach mixed 50/50 with water kills any molds/mildews/fungis. Just use a garden sprayer to apply and rinse off. 4) Power washing is THE best method of cleaning a deck, and is the safest for the environment for runoff into our water supply, chemicals are not needed 95% of the time..

  • @gmanpaint1 Hey you seem to know a little bit about sealing decks.... I was hoping you would be kind enough to answer a couple questions.... I have a friend that has a porch that was built over a year ago....Some of the wood has a green tint to it and we were told not to do anything with it while it's green... Some of it is starting to split and crack..... Has enough time passed to seal the whole porch??.... Does it need to be power washed first??... Any other tips you could give me??...

  • @gmanpaint1 Pressure washing kills the wood fibres. Any high Power washing is bad for wood. But in some cases if you dont care how your decking boards look in 6 months....... I guess its a good idea?

  • I'm going with landscape block...that lasts for 100 years...no labor.

  • Great video, covering all of the steps involved fairly thoroughly for a short video. I'm going to try Oxiclean to wash my deck instead of wood stripper and brightener. Hopefully that works. I'm sure Lowe's sells it also ;)

  • Good to see Mike uses an Australian decking oil!!Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree about all of the products recommended. I was asked to do a friends small deck as she cannot kneel due to knee replacements. She just moved into a Condo which has the usual "regulations" regarding standards of appearance. I am now scared to attempt this task. I have been doing my own for yrs. & it doesn't look as glorious as the one in this video, but its "my" deck & I don't live in a condo. The video has caused me to re-think my agreement with my friend.

  • @linfield7273 Aw you can do it...

  • Yea, lets buy as mush shit from Low's as possible..lets put toxic chemicals on the deck and wash them off into the grass where our children play. Havent we learned anything from Cancer in Children?? I greatly appreciate Low's helpful ideas but if you notice at the beginning that every item he uses is brand new including a new pressure washer that Low's sells. New bucket, new broom, new everything..All available at Low's of coarse.

People...You dont need this shit....Wash the deck with water

  • @bearboneskentuck I'm amused that you A) can't spell Lowe's, and B) that you think it's a problem that Lowe's makes these videos to help people AND sell their products. *SMH*

  • @brandoline94 Of "coarse" (another spelling error by bbk caught: should be "of course".)

  • Thanks for the detailed information, this was extremely helpful when resealing our decks.

  • One thing he doesn't mention is that you could skip all the covering of bushes and worrying about chemical cleaners by using an oxygen bleach (NOT chlorine!) and that sanding is a problem with older decks made with pressure treated wood.

  • thanks for the video.

how long should I wait between the 2 coating??

  • What they gloss over is the fucking *shocking* cost of the stain, cleaner, brightener. For any reasonable sized deck, you'll need a shitpile of the stuff.

  • Excellent video...thank you, Lowe's.

  • good info, but goes by really fast...thank goodness for pause button

  • thak u 4 telling me this info
