  • dont forget to shut down your pc ppl!!

  • lol ^^ u shouldnt do it with a stick u can buy compressed air and just use it for a sec and ur done <.< didnt u guys know??

  • The thing with compressed air is that if you blow it IN to the vents then all the muck gets put back in your machine! With the pick you take all the muck from the grill outside, which is much better.

Although of course ideally you'd take the machine apart, but this was just a quick and easy (but still effective) tip for people who wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.

  • @mistaba its written for FREE not buy a compressed air

  • Not what I expected to find here. But yes, true. Getting a "cooling plate" is also advisable in the tropics.

  • In Japan we also have A4 packs of gel that you put in the freezer, you then get them out and sit them under the computer - it keeps it cool for a good couple of hours!

  • I did something similar, but they were filled with water and designed for keeping drinks and food cool in "refrigeration bags".

You don't happen to have a link to these GellyFreeze thingies?

  • THANK YOU!!

  • ah yes! i tried that technique too couple a months backk, but used a vacuum(put it on low) and a can a of spray duster! found the biggest dust bunny ever XD it could even come out the fan, had to pull it bit by bit

  • thanks u rock! :D keep it up :P

  • Great insight, ありがとう。 =^.^=

  • you can do it with a toothbrush too,

best way is to take compressed air and blow it from the fan´s and out just make sure you dont blow on the fans caus they will break then.

  • Wow, this actually works.

Wonder if it will work on my xbox?

  • thanks richard i'm goona try this coz my laptop is very slow..... sigh.

  • Use compressed air.

  • ur awesome!

Hey, how often do you get to go to japan? Or are you living there?

I was wondering...How do they feel about foreigners? Do they not like americans?

  • cool

    gonna try it:) thanks:)

  • Compressed air works great to clean the cooling system of a laptop. I use compressed air on every fan vent at least four times a year.

  • Generally if you clean out your notebook on the inside as well as the outside it will generally run a bit faster. But it is something that people with experience should do.

  • Very good, I will pass this on to a friend :D

  • Do it with vacuum cleaner :)

  • this was cool. thanks for the post

  • im more of a risk taker, i take apart my WHOLE entire laptop piece by piece since my vent hole and copper cooling system is hard to get to

  • wow thanks richard!

im gunna have to try this now LOL.

    5 stars.

  • I can't believe I never thought about using this lol

  • awesome this can alo be used for game systems o_o"?

  • q - q I dont have a vent like that one.

  • cool I'll make a note of this :3

  • yeah. ours got to the point where it would restart in the middle of something. We couldn't figure out what to do until we took the computer apart and realized the fan was clogged! It really does help!

  • how super duper! lol, i like the "at your own risk" made very clear many times xD

never the less, i will do this. thanks a lot richard!

  • tuff book

  • I'm going to try that too.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • thanks

  • hey are you a British ????

  • you can open it up and clean the entire thing :p or pay someone too

  • Or you can buy some air in a can (compressed air) and blow it out.

  • looks kool to bad my laptops fried from a power surge but wen i get it fixed ill try it thx

  • I tried but nothing came out lol

  • Another thing you can do is just take a thing of canned air to it. I use that to clean the 5 fans in my computer. It's a desktop of course but it should work on a laptop fan as well.

  • its better that take the machine apart and gently spray it with compressed air.

  • Use compressed air.

  • Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try it!

  • If you have a mac, you can take it to the apple store and they will clean all the insides of the computer for free, even after the warranty expires.

  • Cleaning does help your computer alot. You can also use compressed air. most newer laptops now have a bottom vent under the fan special for cleaning just spray compressed air into both vents to clean it. Some computers are easy enough to take apart and clean which is how I prefer to do it but if you dont know what you doing or have a warranty I suggest not doing it.

  • Random.. but HELPFUL!

  • cool im going to try this for my computer hardrive

I looked and there is so much guck in the fan it's not even funny

  • i did that last night.,but i looked like a surgeon with a head lamp and a needle. worked though.

  • I take a used toothbrush, I already knew about this tip but everyone should know basic laptop maintenance.

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH.

My laptop is running very slow lately. thank you

  • "Supa quiet and mega fast!"

    Hee hee <3

    Thanks for the tip! :)

  • thats a very good idea, cheers Richard :)

  • your life is the laptop due to your job, do you back up alot? i would get a macbook and use time machine

  • if i had 1 i will try it

  • im gonna try this thanks richard

  • When i do this i use a vacuum with the brush attachment, works really well!
