The thing with compressed air is that if you blow it IN to the vents then all the muck gets put back in your machine! With the pick you take all the muck from the grill outside, which is much better.
Although of course ideally you'd take the machine apart, but this was just a quick and easy (but still effective) tip for people who wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.
In Japan we also have A4 packs of gel that you put in the freezer, you then get them out and sit them under the computer - it keeps it cool for a good couple of hours!
ah yes! i tried that technique too couple a months backk, but used a vacuum(put it on low) and a can a of spray duster! found the biggest dust bunny ever XD it could even come out the fan, had to pull it bit by bit
Generally if you clean out your notebook on the inside as well as the outside it will generally run a bit faster. But it is something that people with experience should do.
yeah. ours got to the point where it would restart in the middle of something. We couldn't figure out what to do until we took the computer apart and realized the fan was clogged! It really does help!
Another thing you can do is just take a thing of canned air to it. I use that to clean the 5 fans in my computer. It's a desktop of course but it should work on a laptop fan as well.
Cleaning does help your computer alot. You can also use compressed air. most newer laptops now have a bottom vent under the fan special for cleaning just spray compressed air into both vents to clean it. Some computers are easy enough to take apart and clean which is how I prefer to do it but if you dont know what you doing or have a warranty I suggest not doing it.
dont forget to shut down your pc ppl!!

Not what I expected to find here. But yes, true. Getting a "cooling plate" is also advisable in the tropics.

I did something similar, but they were filled with water and designed for keeping drinks and food cool in "refrigeration bags".
You don't happen to have a link to these GellyFreeze thingies?

you can do it with a toothbrush too,
best way is to take compressed air and blow it from the fan´s and out just make sure you dont blow on the fans caus they will break then.

Compressed air works great to clean the cooling system of a laptop. I use compressed air on every fan vent at least four times a year.

If you have a mac, you can take it to the apple store and they will clean all the insides of the computer for free, even after the warranty expires.
