The thing I hate most about Empire, reloading. No seriously, it takes about 20 times a soldier to ram his ramrod down the barrel before he takes it out. Real world, 1-3 times done fire. But seriously, it looks like theyre pounding piece of bread into their barrels. Its REALLY annoying!
they probably wanted to keep real-life reloading times without the precise animations of loading the blackpowder and bullets, which take longer in real-life then in-game, thus increasing the easy animation of using the ramrod makes up for that.
@DIExxENE But even with the ramrod replacing the entire loading process it still takes a LONG time for reloading. Trained regulars could reload and fire three at least two rounds in a minute. These guys barely get off one in one minute.
When i update to patch 1.5, everything is fine but i've a problem that when infantry fire, there're no "flash light" of the fire, just a litle smoke came out. I played at ultra setting. any one know why? Sorry about my bad English.
Who would have thought that learning how to fucking crouch while reloading would be a "technology" that needs to be "researched and developed"? Cause apparently that's what it is in a game.

I like this fire better. "Fire By Platoon" shit is crap. You can use it in some places but when they're charging your ass you need this. This opens up 3 rows of fire, were Platoon fire, only has 2 ranks firing.
I play as the Prussians, and I unlock certain soldier when I take other countries regions over, if I take over Scotland, does it unlock "Highlanders"? Or do I have to be Britain for them?

Secondly, @armypenguin Yes, the commonwealth probably would get involved because Elizabeth is not just sovereign of the UK, but of most of the commonwealth nations and therefore have close ties with the UK. Also, the commonwealth was involved in both world wars so I can't see them changing their minds in a new one.
is there anyway to select rank fire or platoon fire ? I don'e research platoon fire because I don't know how to change it , and it's less effective . I need the new units that platoon fire gives you but I need the same rank fire technique . Is there any way to select ?
I wish they didn't do this. This wasn't how a standard infantry line was formed. It was normally 3 lines deep. The first line of men would fire, then the first line would step behind the 2nd line, and the 2nd line would move up with fresh troops and loaded muskets. And the 3rd line would basically just be a support line and would take the 1st line's muskets, and give their already loaded muskets to the 1st line. And then the 3rd line would reload those muskets, and the cycle would repeat.
@Kage6415 they had something like that with the musketeers in Medieval 2 total war but it was extremely slow and boring and guys would run into eachother and what not.
Right after you pick your army, upgrade the hell out of it, so just incase you go up against a bigger army then yours, atleast your ass is covered. unless that's being a cheater.. lol
I don't seem to be able to use this ability with my line infantry in my grand campaign even though I have researched it. Do I need to retrain my troops or something? I am playing as the British. I see a few people have been asking here if this ability is only available with the prussians.....didn't see any answers...
Actually Winston Churchill was the one asking for Americas help in WW2. The only reason why England stood any chance was because America was giving them weapons, and airplanes. Otherwise you would all be speaking German and wearing little square mustaches, unless u were a Jew then u would have been cooked

Well the US is definatly the largest, best equipped, and most experienced army in the world. The Brits are right up there probably like 2nd or 3rd. You can't argue that the US would easily win a war against the UK.

If you don't think so name something and I bet I can give you something the US has thats better or performs the same task equally but exceeds in other areas.

It happens automaticaly, some cheap units, like the milita or native bowmen do howerver never learn to fire by rank. Key units like dragoons and line infantry fire by rank after the research is done.
I had it with Russia very fast , powned ottoman empire compleetle , sweden denmark and my start ally poland lithunia :P But now everyone hate me because of expansion -_- next campain i will try to get allies before starting wars
i got this in my prussia campaign and bayonets too and all enemies died easily. they lost gunfights and my bayonets owned in melee so i killed all enemies :)

no..... General James Wolf of the BRITISH army used it at the plains of Abraham, which in turn made Britain use this tactic. Prussia at the time (because they gave Hussian line infranfty to the British) adopted the tactic and used it onward.

Spain rocks. currently im invading prussia which was 1 hell of an invasion but with me controlling italy reinforcements isnt that hard. with 3 armies with each having a 9 start general leading them i was able to crush them so far .. with an income of about 9 thousand i see myself taking all of russia soon .. but wait.. my main general died of natural causes... V_V its wild how much a single general can change the outcome of a war..im being pushed back.. decline of power??? lol

It happens automaticaly, some cheap units, like the milita or native bowmen do howerver never learn to fire by rank. Key units like dragoons and line infantry fire by rank after the research is done.

fire by rank needs to be researched, i believe it comes when you have build the 3000 credit baracks.
Also, the only ones capable of doing it (as far as i know) are line infantry units

i got this in my prussia campaign and bayonets too and all enemies died easily. they lost gunfights and my bayonets owned in melee so i killed all enemies :)
