(1/2) "Mouth by Mouth" is one 90's lost classics and still remains in my top20 (or something) of all time favourite albums. It's full of fantastic arrangements/production ideas which always serve the songs and the songs themselves are brilliant, one track after another. There are two live videos of HNIA from that era ("Are you coming..." and other song, none of them from this album, I think) which I have watched over and over again, Karen is magnetic in them...
@pigeonkill (2/2) Erm, what I was on about? Right, 'Mouth by Mouth' is a fantastic record all around and should definitely by investigated by fans of High Places, Dirty Projectors and bunch of other modern bands.
I saw them on the mouth by mouth tour back in 93 or 94 in Chicago and I have to say that it was one of the most interesting shows I have ever seen!!! It was just a three piece band including drums, Warren DeFever on effected accoustic guitar and Karin Oliver on vocals who came out on stage wrapped in strings of Christmas tree lights! this song was one that was performed that night...
mouth by mouth is my favorite album as well. i grew up in the 80;s on punk and new wave then i got into post punk and indie rock, experimental, industrial, goth, etc. by the ninties i was kind of burnt out, realising that i was listening to things that were different but not enjoyable. to me this album expressed different and pleasant at the same time. that is something that is unique and i cherish it forever.
I wanted to finally post some of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. Thanks for supplying awesome vocals for Mouth By Mouth. It's definately one of my favorite. Cheers.
