On the contrary.
Portugal has a low crime rate compared to the US, Britain and the rest of Europe.
This is one of the reasons so many expats live in Portugal.
There is no terrorism.
Above all "the rich paying friends of the McCanns" are business people, who need customers and they are not about to sacrifice their businesses for the McCann's.
It's one thing to give the McCann's 100 thou and another to boycott their own businesses.

Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world and nobody will stop going there because of this case - only stupid people like the McCanns and their admirers and in this case, Portugal is better off without them. The Daily Telegraph tried to start a campaign against Portugal, asking to their readers if they would stop going there on holiday, but te reaction of their readers was very negative - most comments were very critical of their question/suggestion.

i really hope you are right when you say the PJ have enough evidence to take them on, but without a body its almost impossible to prove they gave her drugs, thats why i cant see it being strong enough evidence, they need more if they are to use accidental overdose as the main case,but your right they can still have the body being traced to the apartment and car,, is that enough i dont think so

It all depends how strong the forensic evidence is.
They have cctv footage outside the apartment and the surrounding area. No stranger had entered the apartment.
It is a combination of evidence and not just one single piece of evidence, which can convict.

I'm also afraid the police won't have enough evidence to charge anyone. It would be possible to prove sedation if they found traces of sedatives in hair samples, for example, but would it be enough to charge anyone?

It all depends on the forensics. It has been reported by Sky that there was 100% match in the car.
If the McCann's insist this is from the twins, they may have to give the kids DNA.
Whichever way, it is going to be a long procedure, as the McCann's will use every little trick in the books to help themselves.

The Portuguese tabloid, 24 horas, reported 2 days ago that the police are convinced that the girl died in the apartment at Ocean Club, but they also say that there is not enough evidence to charge anyone. The tabloid also mention the change in statements by some of the Tapas 9, but it could also mean that they are going to tell a story to better suit the parents' account... One never knows...

I think the PJ have enough to take them on.
Taner has lied about walking towards the "egg" man.
Jeremy Wilkins disputes that, as he was near by, talking with McCann. It was JW who alerted the police, he had not seen Taner.

I am having an educated guess here.
To begin with, they can stay arguidos for 15 years.
Come April, the McCann friends will be questioned.
I feel that Jane Taner will then be declared an arguido.
The McCanns will be asked to return to Portugal, before the summer is over.
If they do not comply, arrest warrants can be issued for all the arguidos and it is a matter of formality before they are back in Portugal.

the kids were sedadted on the night in question because they had woken everynight previously as a witness stated,(and what a witness she could be) when she supposedly returned 1hr30mins later she was dead,mass panick because the autopsy would have torn there lives apart and came up with a web of lies,i personally think the body was kept with the church as its the only place the police could`nt,did`nt search,Yes she did calmly sit eating tapas afterwards,thats the type of people they are. You cannot say that it's impossible for them to have been involved in the disappearance of Madeline. If for example they did accidently kill her (overdose), they may have felt they have too much to lose.
What's at stake? Their jobs for a start, all of those years studying, all the hard work. If they had drugged the children they would be struck off.
Their children would have been taken away from them.
Lives destroyed. So what do we have, no job, no children, prison and disgrace.

There are people around with inside information on this case, nothing major, just little bits of information from sources.
The Portuguese police are due to question the Tapas 9, so hopefully this whole thing can be sorted out.
