  • Thanks for giving this more time and detail than most other news media has. This will cause censorship and mainly the movie and record companies will be the beneficiaries.

  • I can't help it! I'm descendant of the vikings for god's sake, it's in my blood.

  • i don't agree with stealing and selling but torrents where people just dl it for themselves ive got no prob with it..

  • @Th3Wab3

Well the government does. It's technically illegal to dl shit for your personal use, that's why they sell them in stores, because they intend for you to purchase the license.

However, the issue with this bill extends beyond the issue of counterfeit software or torrents. It gives the ability to the United States government the ability to take websites off the internet for basically any reason, which is why the EFF, the ACLU, and Google are freaking out over it.

  • @Redfingers true enough. the funny thing is that while it may appear that many people that pirate movies are stealing the fact is these people would not have otherwise purchased tix or dvds for the shared/pirated films'. Johanna Blakely gives an interesting TED talk on copyright.. gov't copyright laws don't help industries they contribute to stagnation and decline. This bill if it gets any popularity it will be refined to exempt google from facing consequences. google benefits the govt too much

  • @Th3Wab3 they said the same thing about audio and video recorders, that they would bankrupt the movie and music industry but those industries are still going strong, stronger than they were in the 80s and 90s.

  • these industries get so much money off of their media regardless, like the guy in the video said, the US should be addressing more immediate issues.

  • Jews running the world by the looks of things. Hiltler would be turning in his grave if the Russians did,nt get rid of his body.

  • as if they didnt make enough money already....

  • ?fare use?

  • @mahballzhari google and co are for this bill. There 'image' response is to condemn this bill. Lyars . Remember facebook owns you! you will soon have to pay fo the picts youve posted.

  • @marydeidre i don't have a facebook account. :)

  • @marydeidre i don't know about that but from news reports i hear, google is against it. can you please cite your sources?

  • come to my page for movies that i dont host!

  • guys, don't rate this video down. you may not like SOPA but don't dislike aljazeera's reporting of it.

  • @mahballzrhari youre right

  • @mahballzrhari

It is what it is. The more important thing here is that SOPA dies and the people's voice is heard on the matter.

  • @Redfinger that's true.

  • I'm still downloading you can arrest me. I won't pay your fines. When you let me out I'll go right back to doing it. Everybody should follow this formula. They can't scare us, don't let them

  • @Dancing88Mike Don't pay the fine, go to court. If everyone who is charged with a crime challenged the charge in court, it would fuck up the criminal justice system soo bad . . . you don't even know!! 95% of cases don't go to trial, imagine if they all did, it would collapse the system tremendously!

  • Dear US government... please, please atleast take me next time to a fancy dinner when you decide TO FUCK ME!!!!

  • Another constitutional right trying to be stripped away. The majority of people who upload these videos - and such - are only having fun with favorite songs. I'll bet stats prove that more movies and CDs are legally sold due to the exposure from social networks. Most comments end with "Now I have to go and buy this CD!" BUY! Not STEAL.Sales in these media will drop if this goes through. Or boycotted.

  • Google is already stifling online innovation. They've screwed up youtube and are obviously trying to kill it.

As far as 'regulating guns' goes when mine are 'regulated' I'll find this fucker and splatter it's brains if I can.

Neither the corporates nor the govt.s are our friends. They don't call us 'human resources' and 'consumers' because they respect us as human beings.

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first.

  • @waypasthadenough I totally agree with you about YT. It's a mess. No more "Friends" Now they're "Contacts." I don't think I'll be buying any new movies any time soon. Or music for that matter. They want to play dirty? Wait till their revenue drops to an all-time low. The Capitalist Pigs!

  • @Thadesgal ahh, but google's revenue won't be falling anytime soon.

  • Unfettered information is more valuable then intellectual property will ever be.

  • When will these dinosaurs finally realize that the old copyright system is no longer effective. The golden age of maximum profits on media is over and they need to just except that their profits need to be with other means like micro payments from advertisement or from making the bulk of the money from live concerts.

  • Cheap bastards. That includes YOU and Hollywood politicians.

  • Copyright trolls! Nothing but parasites on society.

  • fucking cunts its not like they are low on money

  • we wont have the freedom like this on the internet for long, print off what you can

  • Where's the democracy in this proposal?

  • This 'piracy' bill is their way to combat our information war..because we are gaining on them. As they become desperate, the police state becomes stronger

  • Oh god, pirates are also the biggest consumers too.

  • People, if they hate us sharing their work so much, let's stop paying attention to their work. Just stop watching their shitty movies and listening to their shitty songs. There are plenty of non-greedy independent artists out there who actually want people to enjoy their work for the sake of it. These greedy corporate "artists" will get the message when no one pays any attention to them. They mostly suck ass anyway, not much will be lost.

  • Since when did information become private property? Only since the king of England didn't want the plebs to have their fair share. We need to redefine the meaning of copyright. No one should be able to own an idea.

  • who the fuck steals hancock? that movie sucked ass. they should just be happy ANYONE is actually watching that piece of shit. either way, media is art. and artists shouldn't care about money. if you're in it just for the money then please don't do it. this way it'll prevent garbage like lady gaga from surfacing and corrupting the minds of our youth into thinking making mindless crap is socially acceptable. resulting in a generation that idols jersey shore and looks down on anything intellectual.

  • @drumONdrugs23 said: "who the fuck steals hancock? that movie sucked ass."

Did you legitimately pay to see this movie, or are you admitting to crimes regarding involvement in online piracy?

Internet piracy, whether passive casual downloading of music, movies and software, or actively engaging in piracy as a for-profit venture, is equally prohibited and considered a felony within the United States, punishable with fines up to 5 million dollars and/or imprisonment for up to 5 years.

  • @RIAAInformant nope! saw it on tv at a friends house. and it was gawd awful crap ^_^.

  • @RIAAInformant ya gonna sue the tv now?? X}

  • fuck hollywood haha they became trash anyway they arent worth buying from

  • What about the NY TIMES, WALL ST. JOURNAL, should they shut them down if someone puts in ad the paper that later turns out to be selling fraudulent stocks, stolen cars? And the phone cos; if ppl use fake phone cards? these guys are asking other people to be security guards for them. Its illegal, and oppressive. whats next? A cop in every house to make sure youre legal? A virtual cop of course.

    peace/paz/salam/shalom

  • Lets think about this: Maybe "MONEY" has had it's time in the sun and we should move on to a NEW and BETTER paradigm. It seems MONEY as it's defined and used today is screwing up all sorts of things.

    -

Stop holding humanity back, kill** a Bankster :)

    -

** kill as in pull your "money" out of the system. Get your freedom back.

  • @mweibleii i couldnt agree more :)

  • "Music is everybody's possession. It's only publishers who think that people own it."John Lennon

  • @Dukefanforever4 No not crazy conservatives leadership BUSH and Crew have done enough.!

  • Another thing congress does that they should stay out of.! Censor every thing!

  • sucks for us

  • that law would determine that america is NOT "free" anymore.

  • @13elsyd13 NDAA already did that

  • @LadySeraph soo that means we cant download from pirate bay anymore? o.O

  • NOOOOOOoooooo : <

  • Americans will end up having less internet freedoms than China. All done by a bunch of old politicians who probably don't even understand what the internet is.

'Land of the free' ROFL! Land of the censored more like.

  • "Words that belong to others"

    What did you just say?

  • I thought USA was progressive? What a backwards state; privacy is something is can't be taken care of.

  • @durzagaiden right... But forks were not specifically engineered to go through flesh at high velocities

  • @ace1171987noble But they can still be made to. Just ask Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman on Mythbusters. The point is: a weapon, regardless of its design, cannot make the conscious decision that culminates in the death of an individual. There are no dangerous weapons; only dangerous people. The parameters of "safety" and "danger" are not dependent on the engineering of an inanimate object, but the engineering of a human intellect.

  • I was glad to hear that guy saying that the US can't take care of the big issues that are life and death and instead goes after pure commerce....

  • 2:00 "They're clearly incapable...or unwilling, to regulate guns, which kill people..."

Maybe they should regulate silverware too, since that clearly causes obesity about as much as guns kill people.

  • Except that it won't work. If you have the IP address for a site that's been blocked, you can still access it. This type of legislation could also have the potential to fragment the Internet's domain name system (DNS) and cause various other technical difficulties. In laymen's terms: Not only does it open up the way for censorship in the US, but it could also literally break the Internet.

  • the bill will never be passed

  • @hazemvirus yeah...I agree. I'd be surprised if it passed with company's like eBay/PayPal, Google/YouTube, & amazon on the opposing side.

  • Oh God, what a short sighted video.

  • Its very impressive, how the struggle for people to keep and gain control over those seeking freedom. If anything you would think America would embraces these brave people who fight Terrine in spite of persecution and fines.

  • I am going to patent the words "The, and, yes, no, " so when you use then you owe me. ....I am going to patent, the ideas of " The, and, yes, and no" that way when you even think it you owe me money. I have agreed to cut songressmen in so i know i will get My law.

  • and you can bet the millionaires chamber (aka the Senate) will do this for their wealthy patrons, either Oligarchs or Corporations. The rest of the world needs to divorce itself from enforcing us law on the whole planet. time to tell the americans to "step offffff"

  • they do not really care about copyright what they are really after is free speech

  • US will be following the footsteps of China if they establish a national firewall

  • been downloading since 2008 and for the first time they are taking this serious XD so far its not a big news in the world its little, but we will have to wait.

  • @TheSilentXIII back in my days we use something called floppy disk. Like a boss.

  • @orioncheung i never used a computer back then i just went and search in the library every week and i used floppy disc in my school to save files or or writings and now i use a usb and decided to get one because it has great games and browsing was really good sweet how technology gets better year after year.XD

  • This will never pass, so no need to worry

  • Buy indie. That is all.

  • Its about stopping piracy, but also it WILL be used to stop the free flow of information, especially information detrimental to those in control.

  • @ManTheBush Thing is, you can't stop piracy you never will.

  • @Crusherix yeah + the us should worry about how shity this countrys became due to the government kissing every other country's ass and trying to be the world inforcer and shiping jobs over seas and other big shit like that but they are trying to worry about piracy xD shows why Americans are getting dumber or at least the government the dumber u fcking are the better u chances are to get into office huh xD? or seat btw im american so im not being racist or anything :p

  • IT'S NOT ABOUT ONLINE PIRACY! WAKE UP THIS IS THE END OF THE INTERNET! YOUR FREEDOM!

  • several years ago, i read a column in a local free weekly which said the behind closed UN doors, the NSA and its Chinese equivalent were hashing out a protocol for i-net use. Without citing sources, it claimed that tho the protocol would never be legally binding, they thought that if enough countries adopted the protocol, the rest would fall in line. Beijing wanted to make it a criminal offense to criticize a sitting govt on-line.

google "mirror damn right total traceback"

    NDAA-SOPA

  • The US government has been corrupted by big business groups. I think the way "donations" are made needs to be changed.

  • fuck obama

  • Obama is behind SOPA!
