@TheLolthazun When he did this project(a trilogy of albums this being the third) he wanted to carry on the vein of emperors final album "Prometheus:the discipline of fire and demise" starting with the very first and slowly melting other styles into each album. He, by himself, composed "prometheus" and loved the style, wanted to keep it going. It's brilliant.

Oh and, not that it matters anything, because good music is good regardless of how 'brutal'/'heavy'/etc. it is, but Emperor's stuff is more chaotic and heavy/brutal than Opeth/Bloodbath's stuff. Just check out Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk.
