I am so glad Im not the ONLY one who uses discreet when trimming my ends. I decided long ago the last time I ask for a trim and got a hair cut. No one touches my hair with scissors but ME. It's especially people with short hair. My grandmother use to always say because we have pretty hair women are going to want to "TRIM"our hair til the cows come home.
Yay, it's amazing how your hair grew through those past months, i follow your since the very begining and i'm in uge love with your hair and your videos...thank you for the inspiration you give
I don't care what anyone says, if you don't cut your split ends, your hair want grow. Those strains that you think are LONG hair is nothing but damaged ends. It looks like she still has split ends to me. It also makes your hair look unhealthy. I have long natural hair and I cut my ends on a regular basis. My hair is healthy and it looks strong, stop tripping over letting go of split ends, it is not long hair.
@MSINTEGRITY Split ends don't affect the hair follicle...unless the hair has split ALL the way up there. So how is it stopping your hair from growing? She takes really good care of her hair and even states that she wears it in a bun most of the time. My sister and I are both natural and have been for years. Both of us only get trims when needed and still retain length. Besides no two people have the same hair. For just being two years natural, her hair has grown strong and beautiful.
@MSINTEGRITY Her hair looks pretty healthy to me. And, I feel like you shouldn't trim your hair unless it's damaged anyways. Her hair is not damaged so their really isn't a need for her to be trimming all the time.
You have great hair, your videos have helped me. Though you should know cutting your hair horizontally makes split ends worse because your hair doesn't grow that way, you should consider trimming it at an angle, and vertically for texture the next time.
your hair is beautiful...but i think its best to let others trim your hair, a beautician that you trust lol because when hair is cut or trimmed it is supposed to be held out at certain levels of projection.. like 180 degrees 45, or 90 degrees etc.
I love that you didn't wait to trim it once you saw splits. There's nothing wrong with preventing split ends.
I have flexi rods but I've never used them on straight hair. I was wondering how I would keep my ends protected and still curl the ends. Thanks for the tip!!
So when you take the rods out and wrap it, it doesn't get flat on you?
This video let me know that "no" you do not have to trim your hair every 4 to 6-weeks..like some people say...it truly depends on how one cares for thier hair...because if a person can go over a year and a half without trimming thier hair...they are taking GREAT care of it...and we know that you do!!!! looking great...thanks for the heads up!!
I love your videos!! I'm transitioning my last relaxer was July of this year! Your videos inspire me to keep going I love your hair, styles, and tips!!!
Your hair is absolutely beautiful. I'm going into my 4th month post relaxer and transitioning. My mom is so opposed to me going natural bc my hair has been long all my life but I tell her I'm not cutting it off and it can still be long lol
I have seem to come up on a hair growth stunt and it just will not proceed! I am now ready to cut or braid.... What do you suggest as far as supplements or product to continue to grow out my natural???? Any info would be greatly appreciated! And o!!! Love all of your posts, very helpful!!!!! Love ya
No, I totally agree with you, we should only trim when needed. I trim often because I'm transitioning to natural so I trim every 3 to 6 months. Thanks so much for sharing I love your hair.
you know sis I used to trim every 3 months because I thought I was supposed to. not anymore... Something I've learned from kimmaytube :D to only trim when needed. Great Video!!
when you straighten your hair does it affect your natural curl pattern? I see alot of people that say dont straighten your hair cause you will lose your natural curl pattern.
how did you get your hair to grow so long in just two years....in one year my hair wasnt even half that length. But your hair is gorgeous girl!!! fierce!
So at first you say you only cut off split ends, then after you cut the first section you said "I'm going to cut off the same amount on my whole head" ... are these two statements contradictory or do I just not understand?
I get asked all the time, how do you know when to trim your hair & how often. When I was talking about split ends & knots, I was letting people know when I think they should trim their hair. I never said only trim off split ends when you are trimming. I wanted everyone to know that if they are suffering from split ends & a lot of knots then it's probably time for a trim. I did not have split ends but I did a trim to show others how I trim my hair & to even up the ends a bit.
I understand what you were saying...but OMG...I guess it wouldn't matter cutting off the same amount on her whole head...she haven't trimmed her hair 3 months post big chop...which is 1 year and over 9 months ago...WOW!! She takes such gooooooooood care of her hair--She have to be to have that much growth in two years...But yes as I stated before...I understood what you was trying to say...She has inspired me to do more and better than I have been doing...THanks
Your hair looks so healthy and beautiful, you have me second thinking cutting off my relaxer. The longes I went without a touch up was 3 months, I am tender headed so I went ahead and got a touch up
I haven't trimmed my hair since last year :-o and I never saw the purpose other than keeping it even. But thanks for explaining what how to detect a split end, cause I never knew. Great video; you're always helpful :-)
@shany9988 I don't know if you watch kimmaytube but she has a great video where she talks about not cutting "haphazardly" but cutting what needs to be cut off like single-stranded knots which can get caught in neighboring hairs and cause breakage. Cutting in this way that Kerry and Kimmaytube suggests is the best way if your goal is hair growth :)
your hair is beautful....fyi also, i know you use miss jessies alot and there having a buy one get one free at the end of the month through dec31. dont miss
Thanks.. Trust me, I know about their bogo sales for the holiday season.. Lol.. I still have a lot of products to hold me over for another year, so I will have to pass this year.
@MrsTikaa I disliked it because I get tired of all the natural hair people on youtube going to the basic curtain thing. To me, personally, it eliminates the personal feel of the video. I'd rather watch someone do their hair in their living room or bedroom like I'm watching a normal everyday person than someone surrounded by a screen like a trained professional out to sell a product without the natural feel for the individual viewer.
@Dark0Malkavian ????? I'm sorry but that just does not make sense to me. She IS your normal everyday person. Why does what her background matter lol? I could see if she was actually trying to advertise a product but she isn't. She is just showing how she trims her hair. Also, if you check out her other videos, she is in her bedroom/bathroom. LOL This comment is a little funny to me.
@CrownJewel32 You may not see it but personally it gets annoying seeing people with the same exact background or using the same exact graphics. It shows no originality which is what makes me interested in subscribing to a person. It doesn't matter if she's advertising a product or not, she's still advertising herself as a person on youtube and because she IS a partner, she earns money per subbie. So, I want to see WHY exactly I should subscribe to a person.
@Dark0Malkavian Yeah, that china door background is in a lot of youtuber's videos. But, it personally doesn't bother me because I'm just here for the information. Honestly, you are one of the few people who actually cares about the originality of someone's background. Most people really don't care; they're just here to learn and that's it. As long as we can see what she's doing and her information is right, that's all that really matters. What draws me in is personality and facts
@CrownJewel32 That's all well and good but why judge me for the way I pick and choose how I want to subscribe to a person? It may not matter to you but its the simple things that I tend to notice that really makes a person, sponsor or company stand out. If this was her personal blog, I wouldnt care as much but she's talking to viewers as she advertises herself and as such I treat her as I would do any other person talking to an audience FOR attention.
I'm also 2 yrs natural and I just got my first real trim. Ur right, if you routinely take care of your ends u wont need "regular" trims. Also, u inspired me too straighten my hair and I'm enjoying it so far, thanks for all the tips!
My hair was a little below my shoulders. Around the same length or maybe a little shorter than it was in my "natural hair update video-- 17 months post big chop ".. When relaxed my hair has been the length that it is now but it has never been as full.. So now my true hair growing starts. By next November my hair will be longer than it's ever been before.
@SimplYounique Thnx for the reply. I asked because I kno as naturals, we sometimes feel that once we go natural then our hair should ALL act the same, particularly in how fast it grows. We often compare our lengths or get frustrated w/ our own hair when we see a natural who's hair seems to grows ''faster''. But the fact is how fast one's hair grows is influenced by GENETICS just as much as it is by how well they take care of it. We are all differnt even if we are all natural.
Thanks.. No I don't do protein treatments. Since everyone's hair is different, some people may find it helpful. My hair has flourished without doing them, so I probably won't start.
No need to wait for the holidays.. I haven't changed anything.. My staples are still the same. Check out my FAQ #2 video if you haven't seen it already. Fast forward to the end of the video.
I trim my hair every six months. I wash/condition, twist then trim :). I usually cut about 2 inches twice a year to maintain the same length. I trim (cut) more on the stop and sides so I have a layered hair cut. You are so right about wash and gos; you have to condition wash more often to prevent dryness which causes what I call Ghost Knots. Thank you so much! Gorgeous you are!
I am so glad Im not the ONLY one who uses discreet when trimming my ends. I decided long ago the last time I ask for a trim and got a hair cut. No one touches my hair with scissors but ME. Rhodesd151 3 months ago
Hey Rhodesd151,
Thanks.. No I don't do protein treatments. Since everyone's hair is different, some people may find it helpful. My hair has flourished without doing them, so I probably won't start.

I sure you get this question often. but for a holiday gift to your subscribers, could you please do an updated product regimen for us. thanks

@msladynatural00
No need to wait for the holidays.. I haven't changed anything.. My staples are still the same. Check out my FAQ #2 video if you haven't seen it already. Fast forward to the end of the video.

Lol.. Yeah, waiting for your hair to grow is probably the worst part.. But it will be the length that you want sooner that you realize.

Great video. I def agree with trimming only when necessary; I've been natural 15 months and have only trimmed once.
