  • It's great to hear them again....Louis was a real clown on stage but also a great musician, and Keely's deadpan while performing was endearing. I loved their television show.

  • Muppets

  • @dmb4862 Sam and Friends*

  • Great Song By two great performers... I had the pleasure of hearing Keely Smith in Vegas and NYC and on my 40th bday in 2008 at Birdland Jazz club in NYC Keely sang happy birthday to me. A memorable moment. She is so down to earth and a sheer Joy!

  • Keely was an American Indian, I think.

  • This just makes me think of some great memories working the light and sound board at a little theater one summer. This song was one of my favorites of the show.

  • NEVER listen to this song if you have a TOOTHACHE!

  • a mis 21 años me encaaaanta esta cancion, creci escuchandola, ya esta en mi mp4 :D

  • I first learned about this song when it was used in the swimsuit competition of Miss Universe in 1996. It lingered in my mind, then I searched for it here, and I appreciated it more after listening this version. c'",)

  • i was in the movie Cobb w/ Tommy Lee JOnes and i did a scene for three days watching actors do this, it was kick ass

  • I remember Sam and Friends, a popular TV show that ran from 1955-1961, lip-synched this with an early Kermit the Frog with a wig, who was Keely Smith.

  • Love this song and love the pantomime of Kermit on "Sam and Friends" - Keely's voice is amazing

  • Love this song and love the pantomime of Kermit on "Sam and Friends" -

  • Anyone out there remember an Instrumental piece by Prima called Winter Wonderland ( I could be wrong in the title, but it`s not the one commonly known with "walking in a winter wonder land). The melody for the one in question I`d love to hear again, but just can`t recall the title. Thanks!

  • @SuperSundance7 That Is True...for real!!

  • Ahhhh, Louie and Keely, what a combination. It was really magic. That Keely what a voice. thanks for the memories

  • @jukeboxdano Make a playlist and save it to playlist...

  • OMG she looks just like my Mom!

  • Thanks for the post! The voices are great, but I'm really diggin' the rythym section on this one.

  • I used to work in a dental lab with a dozen other techs. The boss hated rock and everybody else hated country, so we listened to KSRN in Reno that played 40s, 50s and early 60s pop music, where I discovered music like this. Fantastic! Thank you!

  • At one time Louie was the top headliner in Vegas

  • The harmony on the tag blows me away every time. He looks like a goof in old movies, but he was an excellent entertainer, and an amazing musical talent. And Keely could give Ella a run for her money as well.

  • I remember this, my folks took me to see them opening a houseing track in San Jose, Ca. I love this by The Sammy Davis Jr. I think the most....Sweet love.......

  • This HAS been used in a lot of movies - including the little known "Destiny Turns on the Radio" (one of my favorites) - at the very end... Love Keely, Louis and Sam et al!!

  • How to Make It in America.

  • Love this song since I saw the actors imitate this in the movie "Cobb", wow Nevada was really fun then...

  • This is a fantastic song. Thanks for posting it here to share! I enjoyed it very much! :-)

  • Those where the days without promotional musicvideos and great happy music :o)

  • Amazing how my father listening to Jazz has influenced my taste music. Keely smith and Lois Prima are a Gift to our ears. True Swing never dies !!!!!!

  • @Tom6093 Fantastic beat, with Louis and Keeley a truly class act!

  • cute picture! :D

sounds so oldies! <333 I love oldies!

    and I'm sixteen :]

they both have such unique voices!

  • her voice was perfect pitch and lovely tone!

  • are you kidding me with this? it's damn perfection!!!! you will never get better, EVER> it can't be done.

  • this is freakin SCARY SHIT!

  • Great tune.

  • Superb sound quality recording. I think Louis prima is such magic performer.

  • My mom and dad got to sit in on the recording session when they recorded this song. They both talked about it until the day they died. So besides being a classic, it has a special place in my song library.

  • has anyone got the video showing Keely Smith and Kid Rock singing this song together at the music awards?

  • @tahlinc22 Hey! I've been looking for a while, I didn't know they even sang that together. But if you search 'Keely Smith Kid Rock' on google video you have it! Hope you enjoy. Greetings!

  • This is COOL Music man! What an Era!

  • KD Lang sounds so much like this girl its uncanny!

  • wiltner, yes you are right, she sounds so much like kd Lang, unreal1

  • A very good duet!

  • nice 5/5

  • I am of course speaking of Sam Butera, that great sax man that contributed so much to Prima's great music success. .All these players including one of the groovinest, swingin drummers ever, teamed up to make such a successful musical interprise..and Keely was icing on the cake! As a kid these guys were such a standout on the radio! and you know the rest of the story.. Sam told us Louis would never fly... always drove to the gigs..

  • At the big International convention of Musicians from all over America back in 1988, Sam and his band played nightly for everyone. ..Sam had paid a special tribute to Mr Don Jacoby, a great trumpet player with the CBS Orchestra. I walked up to Sam and thanked him for that tribute..he said Don is the Best! I told him I agreed. In parting I told Sam "I hope you live to be 100 years old" he beamed this great smile down at me I will never forget. He never saw 100 but, what a life he lived..

  • there was a great video of them doing this song. Now it seems to be gone. I wonder if it's a copyright thing or ..? It's superb . hope it returns to youtube.

Thanks for posting this. at least we have this great version.

  • @tb261 Sonny and Cher stole their act

  • They worked so well together because, in their act at least, they were total opposites! This is perhaps the best version ever of this great Mercer-Arlen song. Thanks for posting it!!!

  • What a voice! Keely Smith is one of the greats and this is a total CLASSIC.

  • Does anyone have a video of this performance. It should be posted to really appreciate...

  • i grew up loving this music of keely mith n louie prima. it was truly one of a kind, twas the good old days............lots of pleasure thank you LP FOR THE FUN !!!!

  • I think Arlen would be get a kick out of this fast paced version. Why not? It doesn't tarnish any of the other versions. It would be wonderful if someone posted the movie version when the song was first introduced (1942).

  • Hi Tinkerbell, yes Keely is still alive, she's friends with my stepmother, Keely lives in Palm Springs, Ca. She might be in the book! And she's in good health, thank g-d.

  • My favorite from them!! Just GREAT!

  • I've loved them since I was a kid too! I also remember seeing them on Ed Sullivan and I thought it was so hilarious how Keely was so smooth, calm and sultry while Louis danced and gyrated around her. What a class act. Just amazing.

  • I loved them both when i was a kid... On the edd sullivan show.... keely was something else.. She did what Cher did to Sonny. Same thing...I never got to meet them... I wouid have loved it.... I think keely is still alive... I live in vegas and i heard their son is doing a little something... Any body know?? Keely u rock.........

  • My son and douther and i, can realy have great fun of this song, just make us in good mood. happy weekend to all

  • We're sitting in the front row on our honeymoon and there she is, as stiff as can be and the music starts and she ignites and the place is spinning under the spell of Louis and Keely as she soars, 'KISSS" - cymbols, more Louis and then, out of no where comes Sam Butera and they are doing a conga line down from the stage and into the audience and up we go, YES, THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC" -

  • Wow, what a way to enjoy your honeymoon. I flipped when I heard this version, because I'm a big Harold Arlen fan (he wrote it), but I NEVER heard it interpreted like this. Love Keely!

  • tremendous!!!

  • Keely's voice gets me everytime. It's absolutely fantastic.

  • @NewsMan580

I've seen her in person. Her voice sounds as clear as a bell. Perfect pitch.

  • @NewsMan580, Not fantastic, IT'S BLACK MAGIC! XD

  • Weirdly evocative. Raspy, machismo, latino music style bounced off her light-stepping , jazz voice. Almost madrigal.

  • They were the best lounge act Vegas ever had. They brought real class to a town , similar to what the Rat Pack brought in.

  • Many singers have recorded this song, but this is the best version ever.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • In the cover photo shown, she is PRETTY. She may not be gorgeous in ~every~ photo, but are you?

  • I think she was attractive. Didn't dig that short hair. Would have looked so much better with long. But who cares, that voice is drop dead gorgeous!

  • I am a big Keely fan. She is the best! Where exactly can I see her in person??? Is there a schedule for her available? Where?

  • Oh I love this song, this version just makes you want to dance, I just feel like doing a little jig...=D

  • Sam Butera went to the Big Lounge In The Sky tonight in Vegas - he was 81.

  • He was still good at the end.

  • RIP Sam Butera

  • Wow, I haven't heard this since my parents played it over and over and over again when I was kid...Love, love, love...Colin's mom

  • I always wanted to hear Keely sing with Tony Bennett. I imagine they'd be great together! I love Prima too but TONY is TONY!

  • my son and i love to dance to this song.

  • Louis Prima's voice kicks ass! That should've been Sam's(Sam & Friends) voice.

  • I think it was (when Sam lip-synched this song with Kermitina.)

  • They really complemented each other well, and put their own stamp on every song they sang.

  • Keely have wonderful voice.

  • louis & keely live at the sahara - fantastic!

  • shes 77. born march 9,1932

  • Does she still play in Vegas?

  • yeah, every day

  • At what casinos, I am in San Diego and would like to hear her again? Thought I would take a trip this summer and would pass thru. Last time I saw her was I think the Sands in 95or 96.Saw sam butera & the wild Bunch at the Tropicana in 200? Thanks for resonding I am new at this.

    Rick :)

  • Just saw Keely at the Rrazz Room here in San Francisco...she's still fantastic at 81 years old! Great, great, great!

  • ^^ Great.

  • this music puts me a delightful magic spin

  • I Love it!!! ;)

  • Man they always tore it up when they hit the stage.

  • Perfection.

  • Hes my best Italian singer ! Im Italian all his albums are great EPIC

  • amazing thanks!!

  • great song

  • Timeless!!!

  • Best version!

  • @boeingVSairbus This is a pretty fun version but I really LOVE the Martha Raye one in the Tallulah and Martha Raye video on youtube. BUT I love Keely, don't get me wrong but the orchestration and Martha's voice on it knock me out every time. You should check it out if you haven't. ^_^!!

  • This song was also in the 1994 Movie about, Cobb that Tommy Lee Jones starred in. In the movie Ty Cobb goes to a club, and actors portraying Louis Prima and Keely Smith "perform" this song. The actors are really good at lip synching--it's worth renting the movie just to see that one scene.

  • It was also used in "Destiny Turns on the Radio" a very under-rated movie, in my opinion... (it also used Booker T's "Just My Imagination" - a classic version)

  • Thanks for the heads up!

    Rick

  • Beautiful. Bravi !!

  • "Put out the fire!!"....Lol! Louis and Keely were dynamite together. Love this song by them, great upload.

  • Thank you so much Johnny!

  • I remember as a child in a big eastern city in the 50s hearing this giant hit coming out of the radio and juke boxes everywhere! Smith sounds so cool along side Prima; they were musical foils for each other. Thank you very much!*****

  • Thanks for commenting and subscribing, I appreciate it. I subbed to you as well!

    Johnny

  • @Antarblue me too--big italian family way out West on the coast. Makes me cry!

  • I have this cut on both vinyl and CD. Shame that Louis and Keeley were underated. They were (are) BRILLIANT! I hope there's a movement to give them the recognition they deserve.

  • She has one of the "smoothest" voices I've ever heard...Sara Vaughn would be the other...

    Really love this Ted!

  • Louis was a wonderful entertainer. He is one of the unfounded fathers of Rock and Roll. He got a lot of power out of his band, worked them hard.. but made sure they had fun, and you can hear it on the records. His classic "Sing, Sing, Sing" will live forever as the anthem of Big Bad songs. God bless, Louis.. and thanks to Johnny Wheeler music for posting

  • Great Share!TBW Thanks This Is FIRE!!

  • This is what I'm talking about!!! brilliant.

    Sandra X

  • Down and down I go, round and round I go...
