Scottish Coal and the Jobs for local people is a sham. I have lived in the area for 12 years and for ten of those I have been persistently trying to get a job in any of the opencasts to no avail. In 10 years I have sent hundreds of CV's, called hundreds of times and visited each site many times and only ever managed to get 1 interview, needless to say I didnt get the job. I'm not the only one that has had this issue with Scottish coal!

Regardless of the debate on open cast mining, what is true is that Jimmy Hood needs put out to pasture - I turned in my Labour party membership after twenty years because of shiftless, lazy career politicians like him. Danny Meikle is a classic example of the class traitors Labour MPS, MSPs and councillors have become. They and their blinkered supporters wave "opencast = jobs" around without the temerity to imagine what new nature reserves, new forestry and nature reserve jobs could be created.

It's really not all about climate change, if you had understood and digested the video in full you would see that it was alos about teh health and welfare of teh people living in the area, who did not want this and are being ignored for the sake of profiteerin, greedy and selfish individuals. I am an educated individual who works in an area that realises that without Scottish Coal and the jobs they create are paramount to the well being and survival of an area which is devoid of any other major employer.This has been the case for the last 30 years. As for being naive, perhaps you do not see the irony of stating 'well being ' as a reason for destroying the natural surroundings and eco structure of an area directly affecting the 'well being' and health of those living creatures nearby.

As for creating jobs, well those are temporary thelasting efftect of the mine is not. Short term gain long term pain. BTW 'education' does not mean you make wise choices only means you have been indoctrinated to believe what you are told is so. your comment about the jobs being temporary are rubbish my husband has worked in this area for over 10 years now and in opencast mining for 15+ and he works with guys who have been doing this for over 30 years not so temporary these days where none of us can rely on a job for life
