I am Canadian. In 1982 when this video debuted at Epcot, it was an OK representation at the time, but it grew horribly out of date shortly thereafter. I hate being referred to as an Inuit person who carves soapstone, eats whale blubber, wears moccasins, or that I only wear Roots clothing). When it was replaced in 2008 with Martin Short as the host, representation vastly improved. If you have not seen the new show, on your next trip, make it one of your must-sees. You're sure to be impressed.
so, from this video, i deduce to the opinion that Canadians are noting more than french-speaking hillbillies?!?! As a Canadian, I am ashamed of this hideous portrayal of my nation!!!
I realise we have to move on but can there be anything better than this? The 360 scenery, the music, the song, perfect. Having said that, while I enjoyed the show, my three kids fell asleep but they'd had a long day.
I'm American and I don't think that at all. This video was great!! I hope they make it available for later viewing at Disney. The song (your a life long journey) is fantastic and the video brings back warm memories. Change does need to happen though.
I'm glad they are updating it, this film is old and outdated. While they do show the beautiful country, it makes us all look like hick fisherman wearing lumberjack outfits!
I agree, Americans already have the wrong idea about Canada, and this old film doesn't help.
I know this is a two year old post but I have to disagree. The portrayals in the film did not make me think laughably about Canadians as a kid. It just seemed like a lot of very classic and iconic aspects of a beautiful country. The film was a visually overpowering and visually hypnotic experience more than anything else and it made me feel that Canada is an amazing landscape that is very different from my own. The music was of its time but honestly I quite preferred it. Still do.
People are so full of it. This was probably my favorite video in Epcot's World Showcase because of its sweeping visuals and it was reliably there every time I went to Epcot. Now, due in part to complaining Canadians, it's gone. Pisses me off.
Beautiful film. It would be interesting to see an update, but if there is one, it better have similar scenes to the amazing and inspiring ones seen here.
It may be old, but it still portrays a beautiful country. Wouldn't it be best to keep it that way rather than update and show the disaster that country has become?

Martin Short will narrate the new version of the video, with music from Canadian Idol's Eva Avila.

I fear change. The old film and music was beautiful and makes me so homesick. I pray they dont ruin it.

What a shame, the pictures and music has always made this one of my favorite attractions at Epcot. I hope the refurb does not ruin it.

It will be closed for refurb Aug 20-24th.

there is a strong rumor that the movie will be updated the end of the summer. The film will be in rehab and the talk is for a film update

So what's the problem with this film? I love it. And if I'm ignorant & love it, does that mean once I see the "real" Canada, I'll hate it?

dang this video is old, lol, yea it does need a serious update, no wonder why Americans are so ignorant of our country
ljones1111 4 years ago
They have got to update this film from the 70's. It's making Americans even more ignorant than they otherwise would be about Canada.
