he can catch a falling flagpole a few inches in diameter within a fraction of a second but he can't take two steps to move away from the falling cross?? somethings off with that man.
@JJproductions852 like ive heard it before, the first bit it goes OOOOH, eOOHH, eOOOOOOOOOOHo, ieHOOOO, ooh, OHHHHHHHHHe. and just keeps repeating itsself.
This scene reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West's color guard and Dorothy's three friends watching them enter the castle. I wonder how many have actually scene a real Klan rally as I did in the mid-60's in Southern Arkansas? It was so scary because no one, not even the police who were actually part of the rally itself, was there to make sure there was peace. Blacks literally hid in their homes back then. I hate racism of any kind, even black racism against whites like Al Sharpton.
@taypar11 That must have been a scary sight. I'm not going to lie... you probably wouldn't see anything scarier unless you traveled back in time and saw the Nazi meetings in Gernamy.
Quite honestly... I'd see all those rags and would've taken the opportunity to give them a molotov... that much evil in one place... only proper thing to do would be to burn it all.
@Kat112219 wtf fuck your a racist dumbass who embrasses hate! god made us all equal so what the kkk does is wrong so burn in hell ...p.s bed sheets (robes) are highly flamible so good luck with that asshole!
My uncle in Kentucky once made the statement "The KKK was the best thing to ever happen to the South". And there are apparently still plenty who believe that.
In the mid-1930s, the Nazi party sent emissaries to the United States to investigate the Klan and possibly recruit them to support the Nazi movement. They quickly determined that the Klan was neither sophisticated nor organized enough to be a Nazi auxiliary. They were not geniuses, they were bigots. This was a chilling scene though- very well done, thanks for the upload.
@CharlieBarkinTheDog Nathan Bedford Forrest, the leader of the first klan, was a racist, murderous, traitor and psychopath. The second klan in the 1920's was started by a kind of frat boy who loved being parts of clubs, I think that's what Polandmj88 is referring to. They were still murderous, racist psychos though.
Perhaps the uploader was implying they were as intelligent as the movie showed them to be, which is to say, not very much since they were essentially outfoxed by 3 not entirely intelligent convicts.
Definitely a powerful scene in this movie. And although Ralph Stanley is getting on up there in years and isn't what he used to be (I mean no offense), he is still a Blue Grass legend. This song is very appropriate and very disturbing. Excellent. I loved this song before this movie, and although I love Jen Titus' version, I REALLY wish she did the whole thing... Just saying...Thanks for the post!

@ral1334 I appreciate this scene too - I also thought there was a bit of influence from The Wizard of Oz (the scene where Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man sneak into the Witch's castle.
@llama666andahalf Yes, a very good homage to The Wizard of Oz by the Coen Brothers. O, Brother Where Art Thou has truly become an American film classic even though it is from the last decade. This film will always stand the test of time, in my opinion, partly due to the soundtrack.
The KKK are not good guys however they can frikin and are pretty good at catching flags that are about to perce them (pardon my bad spelling) I'm happy they saved the guy I might have to look this movie up it looks interesting.

@blueeyedsoldier100 It's actually based on The Odyssey by Homer. The escape from captivity, spurned love, Sirens, Cyclops, Ithica. The whole bit. Look that up.
i first heard o death by kaleidoscope in 67. look it up, as it is an interesting contrast in styles.
the kkk is indeed around, although considerably weakened.
do not be fooled by demon: the tea party is the old lunatic fringe of the 60's. hate is their life, and it makes them strong. they would deal death to all who disagree with them, had they the chance.
Indeed. I and my wife are witches. You know what these xistians do to witches...Soon they will drag me into the streets and burn me at the stake... Tea Bagger freaks... Buona Dea, Buona Dea, Buona Dea...
But, most of the south is really great! Atlanta is a great town, L'usiana, NC, Alabama....
@Paganguy1 Though, North Carolina is a different story entirely. The first thing said to me in that state was; "You ain't from round here, are ya? Well..It'd be great, if it weren't fer all the Niggers.."
The beginning alway reminds me of the marching scene in the wizard of oz.

This movies is based on a real story. A team of hillbilly friends in the 1930's.
Who met a black fella named Skip James. ( You can look this up) The rest is made up, into history.
But the KKK? ha My grandpa hahaha was born, in 1935. And was in-joined with the Klu Klux Klan. And what they are doing is worship, in their own way.
They really did stuff like this, and the many other things you hear about.
This song, was randomly chosen. The actions are real.

@blueeyedsoldier100 It's actually based on The Odyssey by Homer. The escape from captivity, spurned love, Sirens, Cyclops, Ithica. The whole bit. Look that up.

@blueeyedsoldier100 in the intro of the movie it clearly states in bolded letters "based on the Odyssey by homer".

Homer, is a name.
Homer. The name of the other candidate for becoming governor. The KKK Leader.

Anyone getting a distinctly "Wizard of Oz" vibe from this scene?

i first heard o death by kaleidoscope in 67. look it up, as it is an interesting contrast in styles.
the kkk is indeed around, although considerably weakened.
do not be fooled by demon: the tea party is the old lunatic fringe of the 60's. hate is their life, and it makes them strong. they would deal death to all who disagree with them, had they the chance.
