  • thats about right..i spend about $100 a week. I try to buy for at least 1 wk because if i buy for 2 wks alot of the stuff goes bad. and most of the time i end up just buyng the meat the second week and not even spending the whole $100 the second week. Make sense?

  • I wish I could go on a budget. I do not know how much I spend because at times it will include soap powder and other sundries. My husband does not eat as much pasta. I do not eat it at all. I can't spend so much now because my cabinets and freezer are full. I love the spring mix. It is great with baby spinach which helps my digestion. I would make a grocery haul video but I get it put away fast with my grandson helping carry it all in. He is 15 and is super strong.

    Linda

  • It's tough...and I went over budget this week for sure...I think I'll have to start going to the store weekly for $100 each time and maybe that will help.

The spring mix is awesome and it was cheap to boot!

  • I shop at whole foods too and spend about 100-150 a week for four. It's worth spending a little bit more for non toxic foods and try and stay healthy, cuz medical cost for illnesses can be skyrocketing! So in actuality, you're saving money from the medical bills you wont have!

  • I wish I were shopping for 4 on that budget...I guess I am in a way because I buy things for Kade and my mom too...This is a great way to think about shopping !

  • i spend about the same, actually between 400-500 per month between sams and aldi, but i am going to try and buy healthier when i am able to start eating normal foods again, so we'll see

  • Thanks for letting me know what you spend..I still want to eat the way we have ,but I just have to be creative with some things.

  • Enjoyed the video! I wish I could spend 400 a month! Right now we spend about 600, but everything costs more in Canada. I'm happy to see the changes you made from the first bag video to now...great job! keep up the good work! By the way you are really starting to look different now, when I first noitced your video I had to read the yahoo name before I cliked on it...you're changing:) yeah! I like the bag videos, gets me back on track! Take care! Nada

  • Thank you! It's nice to hear that others are seeing the changes in me.

I'm glad I don't have to spend 600 on groceries ,but I'm sure I had children.

  • you are ADORABLE!!! I love your videos,

    beth

  • Thank you Beth!

  • i love your grocery vids

  • Hey Alison, It's Angel. I want to come down and be your shadow on your grocery trip. You have such good ideas! I am new to the whole cooking thing - we normally eat out. Let me know if I can be your shadow :)

  • Anytime girl!! I would love to get together and soon :)

  • Whole Foods all the way!!!

Do not give up your new fresh food choices!!!

  • I don't plan on giving it up at all..I just have to shop around for certain items :)

  • I always enjoy watching your videos. I use Espresso beans and make espresso and sugar free caramel syrup to put in my shakes. TTYL :-)

  • I wish I could find some decaf Espresso...does that exist? lol

    Thanks girlie!

  • LOL, not that I know of, but with school and everything, I need the cafeine. But I make sure only to have so a certain amoutneach day b/c i know that too much cafeine can block us from absorbing certain vitamins and minerals.

  • I wish we had a trader joes here period. I prob will be shopping more at our farmers market which runs on wed and sats.

  • Yea me too! I am hoping they will open on near here soon. I'm going to have to do some research to see if we have a co-op here or something.

  • i have to shop for 3 different types of diets..mine low cal high protein..my husband is reg..maybe something to meat on his bones lol..and my son has pku so he cant have anything high in protein he is very limited..basicly fruits n vegis and believe it or not the higher the cal the better it is for him!

  • You do have a task!

  • boy do i ever! lol BUT im up for the task! I enjoy watchin what others get it gives me ideas for myself!

  • Alison I just have to say you are looking AWESOME!!!!! hugs and have fun putting all that away lol hugggssss

  • Thank you!! That's the part that I don't like about grocery shopping lol.

  • we spend about 150 every other week for family of 4 but a lot of processed stuff

  • That's good for a family of 4 though...Ours would be cheaper if we weren't eating the whole type foods...and i don't want to give that up.

  • we don't have a budget for food and i think it would be difficult for us to figure out how much we spend because we don't consume everything we buy within a set period (like the big freezer bag of chicken you showed).

  • It's tough ,but I knew I was going to the store way too much when we had food at home to cook...

  • We are on a budget cause everything seems to go up. We spend about 200.00 a month at our sams club which includes, meats , cheese veggies. At the regular store we spend about 150.00 a month for every day stuff and other foods. My husband and son eats junk food but we eat meals that are not processed. If we cant pronounce it we dont eat it.

  • Sounds like a good budget to me...I guess we just have to do what we can to save a little bit you know?

  • Allison love your grocery videos...the closest Whole Foods is like an hour away! I wish there was one closer!

  • Just like I wish we had a Trader Joes close!

  • I am having a budget problem myself. I try to keep it at 150 too. I can't afford 200, wish I could.

I think I will grow a veggie garden this year, the easy ones.

    Nice groceries.

  • Do you do 150 for one week or two?

I'm doing to have a container garden this year ,but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it...I see some research in my future!

  • It is for one week.

Container garden sounds like a great idea for me.

  • Oh I'm trying to do 100 a week...so 200 for both.

  • I am wondering if food is more expensive here. I talk to other people and they all seem to spend about what I do. I sure don't like spending what I do but can't figure out what to do about it. Maybe this summer will be better when I can go to the local farmers.

  • yumm

  • Thanks for sharing your grocery haul. It's fun to watch. Let us know how your budgeting goes.

  • I love watching your videos! We have a budget too, just started really. We are going to try doing about 150 a week..but we have a baby too! I just found a produce co-op that I started getting my produce from. It was 16 dollars for a BASKET full of stuff. OH there is a picture on my facebook.

  • I really need to try and find a good co-op here too...I know that will help out a lot. I want to eat good food ,but I need to be careful with my spending too.

  • I have not done the surgery yet but I went to Walmart and spent about 80 dollars on as healthy food as I could find. I hate spending money on food so I almost cried! lol just kidding

  • Yummy yum yum! What is the Agave nectar used for?

  • To sweeten just about anything you want...It's yummy

  • loved all three parts girl... i was going to get the agave nectar last week but wanted to wait till after meet up cuz wont have time for the new recipes til then.

    love these videos!

  • I have been looking for that Agave nectar but couldn't find it :( BUT I just discovered we have a WholeFoods here in Canada! A few of them to boot! LOL. I hope its the same you you talk about in your videos! hehe. We do have a grocery budget but I never stick to it (I am TERRIBLE with a CAPTIAL "T", hehe)!!! I am going to go check out Whole Foods here! Love all the natural and organic foods you buy. We have a butcher shop that is all organic..I love it there, hehe! Great haul as usual Allison

  • I am trying to stick to this budget...I know it's going to take some work though. Let me know if you find the Agave...It's so good!

  • I spent at least 100 a week now and don't buy all natural like you do.....Marquita

  • I think 100 a week is a good number...and having Kade is like having a baby too lol.

  • Trader Joe's has great organic foods at much better prices. Whole foods is awesome but they are very expensive. Check out Trader Joe's you might just get more bang for your buck.

  • I wish we had a Trader Joes closer and I would shop there too.

  • Oh! Bummer I didnt realize you had none close.

P.S. I LOVE YOUR Grocery back videos. I have tried several things you have talked about. I was already a whole foods lover before but found some other great things. Thank you!!

  • I also got the Agave nectar after having watched one of your previous videos, i'm so greatful for your recommendation and after having had this, I am feeling so much better since I was really having problems with alcohol sugars,I'd dump every time.I'm now able to enjoy my tea or coffee without having the fear of suffering afterwards! it's also great to drizzle over tart fruits. ty ty ty

  • I'm glad you're enjoying it!! I use the Truvia to sweeten drinks and the Agave for special stuff because of the calories.

  • I've never used Truvia but i'll make a note to try it, as far as the calories go for agave, I really have grown quite sensitive to sweet tasting food and therefore i'm not really exceeding 1/4 tsp per cup so I think i'm good. But i'll definitely give it a try!! thanks
