Talk Box Setting for MicroKorg

This must be the 10th video I've watched on "How to make a patch for the MicroKorg to use with a talkbox"...and I haven't YET heard someone play the darn patch WITHOUT the talk box!!

I am going to assume that it's a sawtooth waveform (lots of harmonics), with a fairly slow LFO assigned to the VCO (slow vibrato) and perhaps a second oscillator slightly detuned from the first to fatten it up...

You would think that there would already BE a similar patch somewhere on this board, a 'stab brass' etc

Its all good up untill the last line in your settings.... when i get to EDIT SELECT 2 - PATCH 1 and turn knob 1 there is no option for MOD.... its just numbers ranging up to 127...... whats going on here>?

@ap0lll0 No, its the tube in your mouth that produces that exact sound. The talkbox is like a speaker going into your mouth, acting like your vocal chords. You dont even actually have to say anything, just lip sync.

You could.. But a talkbox gives you much more pronounced vocal sounds than the built in 8 band vocoder.

Try searching 'banshee rocktron' or 'Heil' talkbox. They cost around $150 new.

Yes you can use them as midi controllers i bought a little usb to midi plug from amazon for like 8 dollars dont buy the ons that are like 200 there useless..... Then just plug the IN cord in the OUT of the MK and the the OUT in the IN part for the MK it makes it able to be picked up like a regular keyboard

these arent the same settings as they are in the harder, better, faster, stronger demo and kanye west/daft punk video. in those its set on "retro", not "trance". and program is the third button, not the first=(

I don't have a MicroKorg, but Roger Troutman uses a monophonic raw saw synth. The pitch bend should only go a whole step and the mod wheel needs to have vibrato (not tremolo, the pitch needs to shake). Use your ear to adjust the speed,

i have the microKORG synth/vocoder used but not the talkbox you refer to? i tried all the settings but the last one isnt working for me. when i put the edit select 2 knob to patch 1, knobs 1 and 2 are numbers to 127 just like knob 3 in your vid, so i can set the knob 3 to 33 but the first two don't have those word settings, they're just numbers. HELPPPPPP

make sure you are turning the right knobs, I guess. And if you mean the numbers themselves won't change, make sure you turn the knob all the way left of right so that it will change

you can only choose these options if you have choosen "synthesizer" under "VOICE" instead of "vocoder". (depends on what kind of "VOICE" there was before you have choosen "shift + 3")

i think these settings aren't important for the vocoder program

anyway it doesn't sound that awesome without a talkbox

(the button will light. and then select #7. you can get a talkbox sound without using a talkbox.

After all this, go to edit select 1 then go to the first nob and switch to VOC (vocoder)

You can do this with all the sounds in the microkorg. It's not as good as the talkbox cause the microkorg's microphone is not good a talkbox or a good microphone. But if you buy one of the two you solve the problem. Enjoy!

to answer your question no, you can't, the tube sends sounds to your mouth that manipulate your vocal chords, so the tube is needed

first you need to learn how it works for yourself before tellin someone else. it doesnt manipulate your vocal chords. the sound waves from the tube are manipulated by your mouth. it has nothing to do with your vocal chords seeing as how you dont use them to make the sound.
