This is true.. the Civil War and the contributing factors had to do with a lot more than just slavery. The central banking experiments of the 1800's or Southern mistrust of the industrialist fatcats and finance giants had a lot to do with the eventual break in the Union.
The way the War is taught in US history books is biased; based solely on rosy race relations-- this ensures "state's rights" arguments get easily shot down in favor of a big, centralized Federal government.
