I grew up on Staten Island not far from the Bayonne Bridge, but my family almost never used it to get to NJ, but we always used the Goethals. A few years ago I was back living on Staten island for a couple of years and I got into bicycling and I discovered the Bayonne Bridge had a bike path/walkway--so for about 6 months I would ride my bike to Bayonne like every other weekend. Well, I learned to love Bayonne and its Bridge. Viva Bayonne Bridge! I am sad to hear that they want to take it down!

that never did happen....I live there in Bayonne....War of the Worlds Movie with Tom Cruise has a scene of the Bayonne bridge being attacked by aliens....and special effects by Steven Speilberg made the scene look real in the movie, but this is not the scene that's for sure. In the movie, the bridge falls down on Kennedy Blvd...make believe of course..
a movie was filmed from Bayonne on first street and special effects made the bridge look like it was invaded by martians and fell down...it is all fiction.....not true at all....they even put a fake garage under the bridge...there is no such thing in real life...the garage is located on 5th st.
