Beyoncé can do so more than this video shows. Beyoncé is better than Mariah Carey, clearly, she has a better control of her voice, better vocalist, even if she has less octav (that's the only talent of Mariah, but it's so boring). She is a way better than this video.
Beyonce is a Vocalist.... and 95% of those Mariah performances aren't even sung live. But anyone being a great singer has way more to do with having the biggest voice and highest range.... Beyonce Vocal Technique is definitely up there with Mariah's Aretha's and Whitney's.... Her voice well that's subjective.
whitney and carey voice are unique,,no one can match them, as for beyonce her voice is normal anyone can sing like her e.g those in idols, x factor etc. i dont think she will ever reach them.

@prettyflyish - Bro study singing, dont just be an average listener. Its not just about hitting notes. Its how you hit them, the ease, the clarity, pitch placement, can they be hit with vibrato and sustained? Are they hit dead on which reflects ease or is a note reached by swooping up there using over notes lower on the scales as stepping stones? Loads of things to consider that you clearly havent otherwise you wouldnt be so dismissive of Beys talent.

@SimsLover2011 Opinions can be wrong. Beyonce's voice is very special. She has a 3.4 octave and each register is connected from top to bottom. She is one of the few female artist today who are boasted to have a near perfect technique also has amazing breath control. She is truly the vocalist if not the voice of our generation

B is good but shes not on the same level as the queens of voice Mariah and Whitney. Also doesnt help you turn the volume up for B and not the others. It's not just can she reach or hold the notes its the quality of the voice, the tone, the timbre, etc. Whitney and Mariah are on a a higher level overall.

@swacman04 I disagree. B is not the best we have today. I think B has great vocal control and technique, she knows her voice well and uses it skillfully. She has always been overshadowed by Aguilera (and rightfully so, that is a voice on par with the legends previously discussed). Beyonce ill placed runs (Aguilera is guilty of this too but not as bad as B) and ridiculous use of echo hold her back as well. Aguilera has her beat in range, power and tone and other amazing singers like..

She has a nice tone as well, but clearly she hasn't overshadowed Beyonce....Christina has no resonance, no power( she's just loud), her runs (if you want to call them that) are ALL OVER THE PLACE, she strains so much that it sounds like she screaming everything over C5. and overall she shows no type of control or musical competence when she "belting". She has the talent but she doesn't improve her craft.

@atolm1 I too, think Beyonce sounds better when she performs songs like "The Way We Were", "Learn To Be Lonely", and "Look To Your Path"...but even when she sings her own songs, she closely displays the same amount of technique. Her technique is why she is on the same level with Mariah and Whitney because those two showcased amazing technique.

It's not a diss, very few singers are; we're talking the two most influential singers since Aretha Franklin. I have to say i LOVE Learn to be Lonely, what a surprise out of her for me and so stunningly sung, its my favorite song of hers and actually one of my all time favorite songs.

She has great resonance, range, phrasing, riffs & runs, rhythm, harmony, melody, tone, timing, pitch, and musicianship with her voice. Now her overall production with her voice that is SUBJECTIVE and as the years have been passing by her voice has been progressing.

Beyonce has sung songs by Barbara Streisand, Prince, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder and has done them Justice. Now she might not have the Whitney Power to blast notes from One moment in time or Without you but, she does have Power to execute those songs very well.

Whitney's melismas are better than Bey's, cause she have better taste and usage of her melismas. Beyoncé never expressed as Whitney did with melismas. Her intonation is good, but her sense of lyricism and rhythm is not equal to Wh or Mc. She's just capable to do it.

But her usage of melismas, vocal runs and riffs still doesn't have the same musicianship than Wh and Mc. Is true that she as much as agile, and her melismatic vocals are out of world, and she is as much as capable, but not the usage.
@GCassa94 Note how Whitney, for instance, uses melismas on her head voice when performing All The Man That I Need using vocal dynamics to express how she is in love with someone, and how she wants him to be her man. This is musicianship. Beyoncé can do anything she want with her vocal runs, and she is even more agile than Whitney, but she doesn't have this sense of lyricism.
To Mariah, Bey doesn't have the same sense of rhythm. Is like she uses her vocal runs to show her potential. That's it.

Beyonce is a Vocalist.... and 95% of those Mariah performances aren't even sung live. But anyone being a great singer has way more to do with having the biggest voice and highest range.... Beyonce Vocal Technique is definitely up there with Mariah's Aretha's and Whitney's.... Her voice well that's subjective.

@prettyflyish - Bro study singing, dont just be an average listener. Its not just about hitting notes. Its how you hit them, the ease, the clarity, pitch placement, can they be hit with vibrato and sustained? Are they hit dead on which reflects ease or is a note reached by swooping up there using over notes lower on the scales as stepping stones? Loads of things to consider that you clearly havent otherwise you wouldnt be so dismissive of Beys talent.

Haha, all this video does is showcase how incredibly amazing and spectacular Mariah and Whitney were at their peak and how Beyonce falls short of their greatness. B is good but shes not on the same level as the queens of voice Mariah and Whitney. Also doesnt help you turn the volume up for B and not the others. It's not just can she reach or hold the notes its the quality of the voice, the tone, the timbre, etc. Whitney and Mariah are on a a higher level overall.

She has always been overshadowed by Aguilera (and rightfully so, that is a voice on par with the legends previously discussed). Beyonce ill placed runs (Aguilera is guilty of this too but not as bad as B) and ridiculous use of echo hold her back as well. @GCassa94 oh there are LOADS of notes you could have used lol.... transitions are good, I think if you left Whit/Mimi note play lil bit and blend Beys it would have been real nice, instead of replacing the note with Beys as you did.. but v.nice vid. Bey isnt on their level but has set the bench mark for her gen definatley

She's better artist, dancer, actress, but not musically.

@RomuloVideos2 i wouldn't even say she's a better artist. maybe better than whitney since whitney doesn't right her own songs but not better than mariah. mariah's lyrics have so much passion and depth to them. most of bey's songs are shallow & cheesy. she took a big step up with 4 though

@misses18yearold Mariah actually just sing and write her own songs. Overall, she can't dance, she doesn't act well as Jennifer Lopez or Beyoncé. Beyoncé is more versatile as artist. But definitely not as singer or musician.

@GCassa94 Well, Beyoncé had better G5's than this one. All of her G5's I saw on vocal range vids, she had to growl to get there (except for the G5 in Deja Vú). Anyway, she never had better G5's than Whitney's in IAC though.
I'm not a hater. I just like to bring her down to Mariah and Whitney. :)

@GCassa94 Nice point, but still not proves nothing. She doesn't have the same sense of rhythm as Mariah or sense of lyricism as Whitney. She's not in the same level of musicality as Mariah and Whitney are. I could explain to you with more details why Beyoncé is not as much as good. ;)

@GCassa94 I know that Bey have as much as capacity to execute runs with her voice as Mariah and Whitney, but MUSICALITY is the way you use all dynamics and melismas with musical lyric or rhythm purposes.
Whitney's melismas are better than Bey's, cause she have better taste and usage of her melismas. Beyoncé never expressed as Whitney did with melismas. Her intonation is good, but her sense of lyricism and rhythm is not equal to Wh or Mc. She's just capable to do it.

@RomuloVideos2 You are right if you think that Bee does not care that much about lyric, but IMO her use of runs is as great as MC and WH' one, just different, for example this video (I don't know if you know it) shows (I think it could have been better) how she uses her runs according to her musicality, so look at this and let me know what you think (and remember she's just 31 xD) "LA VOZ : Beyonce's Freestylings"

@GCassa94 I just watched the vid. She is as much as talented as Wh and Mc. Her agility and capacity are amazingly captivating. Her use of dynamics and the control over the volume of her voice is one of the best in music industry ever.
But her usage of melismas, vocal runs and riffs still doesn't have the same musicianship than Wh and Mc. Is true that she as much as agile, and her melismatic vocals are out of world, and she is as much as capable, but not the usage.

@GCassa94 Note how Whitney, for instance, uses melismas on her head voice when performing All The Man That I Need using vocal dynamics to express how she is in love with someone, and how she wants him to be her man. This is musicianship. Beyoncé can do anything she want with her vocal runs, and she is even more agile than Whitney, but she doesn't have this sense of lyricism.
To Mariah, Bey doesn't have the same sense of rhythm. Is like she uses her vocal runs to show her potential. That's it.
