  • Great stuff - I keep coming back to this. I love the style. It is just the kind of stuff I want to play. Thanks

  • This is one of the best demonstrations of Hendrix style playing I`ve seen to date, Clear enough to extract all the notes and positions without any explanation. Great playing to..Thanks for posting, More please...!

  • This is very cool. Lots of respect. Hendrix is my all-time favourite and you have honoured him well. I hope to learn from you.

  • Wow, that's smooth and tasty! Great blues feel

  • truly bluesy

  • Feckin Australian youtubers....

  • cool..

  • This would make Hendrix proud pure sole

  • Gotta say I really dig the way you hit those scales I was hoping you could break this down for a lesson I'm a huge Hendrix fan and can see you are too seems more like a stevie lick

  • if youre a righthander is that a lefty guitar then, or just a reverse headstock model?

  • @jennolund

is a reversed righthand guitar... just turned up side down the nut...

    Thank you

  • @jennolund REVERSE HEADSTOCK MODEL?! is that a fuckin joke or what?

  • @household93 look at the uploaders comment you fuckin joke

  • @jennolund ok, I will. I was just making fun of the idea of a reverse headstock model, ya prick.

  • @jennolund Ok, I read his comment. You're not very smart are you?

  • Enrique, What is a Marshall VS60. I can't find that amp anywhere on Marshall's site or on a Google Search. Is the VS for Valvestate? (doubt it). Can you elaborate. You're getting great tone out of whatever it is. Guitar straight into the amp?

  • @yjmsrv

yes the guitar is straight into the amps and is a Marshall valvestate vs65r

    Have fun

  • finally a very decent hendrix-like clips!

  • "NICE" Thanks man..

  • I like Blues Music and I also like the likes of the Stones, Led Zepp and Rod Stewart/the Faces... But why oh why can't my ears and brain get excited about Clapton and Hendrix. I even get mega excited at Jeff Beck..... And my brain blows up when I hear Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck together again, or Rod Stewart and the Faces.... but about 10 years ago I listened to a snippet of Hendrix and was turned off, I didn't like his voice... prefer the Ra

  • @PhilipK100 listen to first rays of the new rising sun album. It is easiest in my opinion for beginners to like.

  • What I like is that you play the guitar as Jimi did - upside down, although my understanding is that Jimi was right handed. Since many blues players turn the guitar upside down, there must be some advantage to it ? Like lowering the strings a full step as I understand Jimi did (not a half step) according to Noel Redding. What is the advantage? Seems like a bloody difficult way to play guitar although the right hand is stronger for chord fingerings, vibrato, hammer ons etc.

  • @clarkewi

i'm also lefty and started with the upside-down method...really no advantage...in jimi's times leftys were were rare...so I belive nowadays he would play a lefty...and of course colver songs from awesome bands like tokio hotel :-) just kiddin^^

  • pretty bad ass. i was wondering what like chords you were using between the like solo parts. Hendrix always seem to use so many like non conventional chords between playing that sounds so much better then the normal just G or what ever.

  • @JimmyPage97 those are pretty conventional chords. Its Gmajor, C dom. and Ddom.

  • @311allmixedup thx.

  • awesome! that sure sounds like hendrix, wish i could play good blues. What chords are you using?

  • awesome thanks for this it is a big help and very well played. One day this will be me

  • Keep that hendrix flame lit man

  • Do you realize how creepy it is that yours hands look just like his? That seriously was great playing, but it's still a little bit weird to me.

  • @joshie4330 four fingers and a thumb, yeah really creepy :|

  • @joshie4330 you wanna know why cuz its Jimi he is renting an apartment at my house

  • This is cool man!

  • ill need a mirror to see what you do xD

  • thats not G blues, F#. half step down from G

  • @rollie1277 probably because he's tuned to Eb, like Jimi did..

  • KEEP UP THE FLAME BRO

  • man you got soul you got that down

  • nice and sweet do you have a tab (also a partial one )pls ?

  • Damn!

  • sick brooo

  • great, man!!

  • i dont know if its jimi.. but im pretty sure... his fingers are exactly like that... i played pretty much all of this just by watching.. thats where im at musically i guess

  • u use only 3 fingers on 2 string

  • Thats Jimi! His Alive he was just hidding! he is even left handed...

now seriously i think its jimi and thats its a video of him before a long time ago. its just not possible to any one human to play like that! :)

  • Hendrix' strat had a large headstock, due to the era Jimi played in..other than that, great job dude, thumbs up.

  • upside down Strat , Thumb wrapped playing! could it be jimi him self ?

  • now if only you'd show us how to do that...

  • 5stars

  • please teach me everything you know, kthxbye.

  • very very nice

  • Jimi, is it you?

  • lol..i dont know why but this one got me=p

  • WOW!

  • man you're blessed in the hand/finger department. I struggle to get my short podgy stumps around the neck nevermind thumb over the top :(

  • You have longest fingers than Albert King!

    How long is your thumb?

    Great blues playing:=)

  • minus the hawaiin flowered shirt, if it were hendrix it would be like a tight african jump suit

  • i thought this was hendrix, looks just like his fingers ahhaa

  • the cam is just inverted

  • are you a lefty?

  • no, i'm righthander

    Thank you

    Peace

  • Very nice playing. Would you care to explain a little of what you are doing and why? I think that would help a lot of people.

    Thanks

  • @jimicolors

A righthander playing his guitar in lefty style! now thats something ive never seen!

Or just a really devoted jimi fan! haha

  • wow cool! What strings are you using btw?

    thanks! Levin

  • GHS 008 1/2

    Thank you

  • F sharp?

  • NICE!

  • What gear are you using there?

  • A Marshall vs60 and 1964 strat

    Thanks

  • My god, where can I get that strat!

  • @jimicolors do u normally play like that or did u practice , because not many rightys play like that xD

  • @Boody58

I normally play like that... Thanks

  • @jimicolors great style to play. hendrix but own colour in the notes.bravoi

  • sounds great

  • "you got DEADLY fkn tone" yea damn right, your tone is soooooo good I wish my amp sounded half as good as thiss shit

  • @FrequentlyFried hey it's really the room you record in too, my cheap peavy amp really shines in my friends large steel garage

  • I dont want to play like Jimi hendrix...

i want to play like you!

    Dm

  • Thank you Jimicolors for rockin good music!

  • Noted Left-Handed Guitarists Kurt Cobain Elizabeth Cotten Jimi Hendrix* Dick Dale Danny Gatton* Albert King Mark Knopfler* Paul McCartney Otis Rush Bobby Womack *Lefties who played right-handed guitars
  • Danny Gatton was not left handed

  • Jimi was really right handed the only thing he did left handed was play guitar he said the reason why was becasue it made more sence 2 play the notes with the hand he used the most...I heard that in a interview once.

  • It makes sense but its so hard to start doing

  • you got DEADLY fkn tone.......sounds just like hendrix.......and i know what im talking about....been playing guitar 20 years....all blues

  • Channelsnature you are an idiot, Ive played Hendrix and SRV shit for around 5 years now.

You don't know what your talking about at all, I can tell a mile off.

  • Jimi is alive!!!:D

  • Yeah I always wanted to play like that.

  • my boyfriend played upside down left handed guitar by ear......

you guys rock.... love the music

    thank you for sharing

    Alleosn

  • can your bf shit upside down too???

  • probably if he tried ....asshole

  • Good luck to you cyn...ical

I don't see you playing upside left handed guitar....

that was 30 years ago. I imagine anyone who plays upside left handed guitar BY EAR

could ..... shit standing, upside down, in space or however they fucking wanted to.Now, the real question is it because you are jealou? Is that why you left such a nasty comment?

Or are you just cynical and un happy with yourself.

  • no it's just your feeble minded comment makes no sense? so what your saying in your original comment is your bf learned how to play "upside down left handed" guitar by ear??? so I can require this skill by my ears??? or Just Restring a guitar turn the Nut around and HOLY SHIT I GOT A "UPSIDE DOWN LEFT HANDED GUITAR" any right handed guitar can take a left handed guitar turn it around and play it, doesn't require much of anything

  • ahhhh, but can you flip a right handed guitar, strung for a right handed person....

    then

play that guitar by ear, and play all the licks you hear.immedieately. I think not. It takes Y E A R S of practice unless, like my boyfriend you are a prodigy. By the way, once again, that was 30 years ago. and he is on the circuit now. No feeble mind here.

    only a music mind,

  • Upside down left handed guitare means:

A guitar strung for a right handed person, no changing of strings Flipping the guitar no money, no video guitar, no instructor, they learn on their own, by ear, without books. They did not have the ability to watch every MASTER whenever they wanted. (utube) You, my young friend are learning from exp of your elders. Wise up. Mother will knock you on your ass if you continue to spew negativity across the world. Listen absorb, one day youll have admiration.

  • heh, yeah me and my friend used to play each others guitar, me being right him being left. He was better than me but I could play powerchords on an upside down left handed guitar. I heard that Andy Aledort can play right handed and lefthanded and upside down guitars awesome, but thats just what I heard.

  • do you still play? never stop play till you drop if it's not guitars listnen to the stars that have come before and those being born bringing song forth evermore!

play your guitar, sing a song, send the vibration on and on for all of us listeners who look on forlorn, watching magic hands strum strum a song.

This poem coming forth as you inspired my words. Goodluck kilphilvol

    put excellence in all

    whether it's yourself

    or playing a guitar.

    : )

  • Oh Yes I still play, I just got a Fender Telecaster yesterday in fact. Im really getting into Blues-Rock now so Im listening to a lot of Hendrix and Cream. Trying to get a band started after doing many years of writing songs solo but never could play them live because I overdub a 2nd guitar part. Thanks for the encouragement.

  • This guy just restrung this. Plays like Hendrix did. NOT upside down. Upside down isn't as difficult as it seems. It's like playing mandolin. A lot guys I work with play by ear. I can tell you it is frustrating for me to have to SHOW a guy (who has been playing for 20+ years) HOW to play a freakin' chord. Some of these guy are really good and could be extremely good if they had some modicum of theoretical knowledge.

  • Thank you B7aug5 for your non-primall ........ teaching reply.

I absolutely admire any human who can speak with intelligence. Re-reading my orig. comment, I did not look to see how the guitar was strung. Nor would I have known what to look for. I simply said in excitement (from music) "my boyfriend used to play upside down left handed guitar by ear".

Many thanks, I am not a player,

    Just been around many musicians.

  • I knew that. don't sweat the little bs things in life. there will be enough real things to fret about. Now go out and kick the ass out of life.

  • Jim, you have a gift!!

  • You are aware Hendrix was left handed as well..... right?

  • he was a right hand writer...

  • That's actually because Jimi's dad thought being left handed was a sign of the devil.... i shit you not

  • lol yeah i read room full of mirrors too. hed play/write right handed so his dad wouldnt break out the belt haha... but seriously, greatest guitarist that ever lived

  • A LOT of people thought that back in those days.

  • nice one man!

  • Get it in tune so I don't have to :P nice work, I picked up a new shape. thanks for uploading.

  • I wish I could play like that man.

  • Damn! That was sweeeeet!

  • great feeling man, keep it going.

  • Superb, this guy has got the feeling and the groove :)

  • you have golden hands...

  • Hendrix was a huge influence on SRV, so to say that someone trying to do hendrix blues sounds like SRV would be correct, so shut up, quit arguing about who has better grammar, and enjoy the music.

  • this is really good

  • real smooth man, nice

  • Totally Hendrix. All this fools that keep mentioning SRV have not listened or watched Jimi Hendrix work in depth. You got the Jimi Hendrix R&B style down 100% no doubt.

  • sick licks

  • those fingers..

    are like sausages..

    amazzing work

  • Nice surprise.

  • Oh,man! 1:20 - 1.26... - sonic brilliance!!!

  • Wow....your good.....

  • Yeh definitely more SRV style... lots of SRV signature bends and stuff. Don't get me wrong, SRV got his style from Jimi and added that twang, but this is closer to SRV than Jimi

  • 100% Jimi Hendrix.

  • "SRV is a practically a southern copy of Hendrix" Thats why I said it is way more SRV. Sure it has the obvious Hendrix influences, but it still has more of that Southern SRV style integrated in it. And I love them both two :) just my opinion

  • makes me SMILE dude...haha..that was very nice..very jimiesque..

  • tasty!

  • *drools*..fuck....im workin on it XD i wanna throw down like that?! shit...very nize bruddah

  • about a year ago i watched some of your closeup videos and adapted your thumb style to my playing and if it wasnt for that my playing would not be what it is today

    thanks!!

  • hloy shit, you even have the man's fingers!

  • DAMN!

  • the challenge to play like jimi is to be high and do that =p you can work on that :)

    10/10

  • its jimmy playing.....omg

  • its spelt JIMI you retards

  • "That is definitely NOT Jimmy."

  • Opivyapathy: Both "spelled" and "spelt" are valid words in the English language :o)

On another note: - awesome playing!

  • he's slightly too......white.....to be jimi

  • I imagine Jimi looking down from heaven on us doing our best represent him and doing his thing down here on guitar...I imagine him winking and say "peace". You are doing just fine here Jimicolors !

  • WOW your saying what im thinking. He has good reasons to be proud of what he has accomplished alive and even after death...

  • true, i'm 13, and a white kid, grown up in a society full of chavs (english jocks) and love jimi, he just made music worth listening to,

  • awesome dude..

    Five stars!

You're someone who can be called a musician :)

  • shit man,

cant you break that down for me =P!?

thats what i call some nice fuckin blues! =]

  • yeah thats what im talkin about...nice chord progression and licks...hendrix stylee...

  • ever since i started using hendrix chord structure i can't get it off it it flows so much easier for me and it gives you more room to branch out and add your little licks to it u kno expanding the feeling of the chord

  • So cool Tnx.

  • I'd love to see a Casal version of midtnight lightning........awesome playing!!

  • hey learning by ear is the only way out of hiding from the inside... it is to open a door and focus on the soul... on the inside.

  • beautiful

  • Seriously cool.. peace

  • awesome tone, awesome playing
