Digimon began as a new idea; a virtual pet for boys. Namely, what if you had all the mechanics of caring and training for a virtual creature, but instead of just sitting around, it actually did ferocious battle with others of its kind at your command.

To date, this first game on the playstation is the only digimon game that seems to remember its roots, and my personal favorite monster-training game of all time. It's a dreadful shame it was never followed up on.

If you get Numemon there is only 2 kind of things you messed up

1)too many mistakes

2)It hasn't got the right stats to turn to anything(for example you need at least 100/1000 but haven'T got a 100/1000 stat)

They really had something going with this game, sure digimon was a rip off of pokemon but this game had really good virtual pets and a deep training and digivolving system, depending on your stat build there was like 5+ different things your digimon could digivolve into at rookie level. After this game all the sequels were just complete pokemon knock offs.

I enjoyed DW1 and 3 (2003) A LOT when I was a kid, and I still do! :D Although they are completely different , the 1st being more...taming oriented :-D If they made 1 for the PS3 i'd buy it :D ( Digimon World 4 kind of...dissapointed me :\)
