  • I remember this being one of my dad's favorite movies when I was a little girl. I'm 42yo. Gregory Peck was on of his favorite actors. I love Anthony Quinn myself. The scene when the town folk are dancing in the square, there is a little girl with dark curly hair in it. My dad always said that looked just like me when I was 5 yrs old. He said I was his little Greek goddess and thats why they named me Angela (greek origin).

  • Unfortunately, this has the least enlightening Directors commentary of any flick I've ever seen. A few performance insights, but mostly it's: "This shot is on location....;this next one is at Pinewood; this is location...; matte shot...; location: day for night....;if I did this now, I'd make this sequence quicker...;all this is done at Pinewood Studios - Ozzy Morris made an outstanding contribution lighting this film...; this is back on Rhodes...; a model..." - or otherwise silence.

    Seriously.

  • I'm here because of the Skatalites!

  • made last than 20 years after wwII, this movie was amazingly detail on the history behind

  • This is on on Sunday at like 8am, on BBC1!!! (Or 2, or ITV1) :D:D

  • I'm here because of Pulp Fiction.

  • Heaven is...Watching this movie on DVD after a huge roast dinner on a cold, wet winters Sunday afternoon, falling asleep halfway through and being woken by your wife to tell you that the kids will be stopping with Gran for another two days.

I was so happy on that day.

  • Rhodes island

  • @celtazeezee Yes. My favorite of his, of any movie, is a simple one called, "Amazing Grace and Chuck." A forgotten film but wonderful. My second is, "The Old Gringo" with Jimmy Smith and Jane Fonda. And my third, "To Kill a Mockingbird." Difficult to watch. My least, "Horatio Hornblower." Supposed to be a kid and a Jumping Over the Shark type. Playing a young man when it was obvious that he wasn't. I dislike seeing them play young when they are pasted it. John Wayne did it too.

  • This movie was stupid what with them killing 200 Germans for each one of them. Quinn did however did do a good movie with "guns" in the title - "Guns for San Sebastion"

  • @dancinkindofguy Actually during the time the germans were occupying greece 200 germans were massacred by 16 greek rebels and 4 new zealand soldiers. The Germans thought it was an army shooting at them. Although this is hollywood. something like that did happen in real life

  • @ApostolosFilms Can you provide a link to that? I'm not saying it didn't happen, but color me skeptical.

  • (1:28) Ahmadinejad! :D

  • Haven't seen this movie in 30 years since I was a young kid(back during the early '80s)when it was shown on regular network tv.

  • they don't make trailers like they used to! great film

  • I'm pulling out my guns of Excitement

  • One of my favorite WW2 films. Full of action, adventure and drama. All of them equally distributed. One of my favorite scenes is where they are singing a greek song and the Germans find them. A great moment.
