これまた結果論ですが、初防衛ではラバのような、変則ファイターは避けるべきだった。相手を選ぶなり、ノンタイトルを挟むなり、ボクサーとしてじっくり育てる期間が必要だったと思う。

才能とカンだけでチャンピオンにはなれないハズです。
経験無くても（アマで１９戦してますが）８戦で世界を獲った、その後３回王者に返り咲いた。
それで十分じゃないですか？

経験を積み重ねて欠点を修正する時期が欲しかったと思います。せめて倍の16戦くらいは経験すべきだったと思う。

結果論なのかもしれんが、8戦目で世界挑戦なんてせずに、じっくりと充分な経験を積ませてから、世界王者になるべきだったかもしれないな。
防御や駆け引きといった点を磨いていなかったから、やたらド突き合うスタイルになってしまった。才能と持って生まれたカンに頼る部分が大きくなってしまった。
パンチドランカーになることもなかったかもしれない。
