Good song. Good points made. I was resigned to Amy's demise for a long time before it happens and I'm defending my own emotional thing by saying, I didn't know her. She was just too fond of drink and I suppose that was exacerbated by her cocaine and heroine experiences. At the same time, her singing makes me unashamably HAPPY. A brilliant sense of humour. Deadly, yes, but fine. Musical ability? Most interesting singer in many years, imo. Commiseration to those near to her, but not to her fans.
Very nice song with an excellent point... no one can truly understand the inner demons and pains someone else is feeling and dealing with unless they are extremely close friends. Even very close friends don't always share their fears, pains, and demons. Inner turmoil NOT shared can weigh down even the strongest person... It makes me even more thankful for my true friends.
Thanks TJR, for sharing your thoughts in such a beautiful song.
The lyrics are thoughtful. You don't engage in pop psychologry, nor do you look for an easy explanation or snap judgment. Even better, you display the same sensibilities I remember from your Beatles Tribute download. You don't pound out the notes, but find a way to delicately paint a musical landscape. Quite evocative. To be honest, I've only heard one song by Amy Winehouse (the free download from Amazon some months ago) and enjoyed it, but your song transcends one person's tragedy.
Thanks for this thoughtful song! Amy should be remember for her distinctive voice and the music she contributed. A long time ago, I wrote a song about suicide after someone close to me ended his life. It's called "Echoes" and can be heard at reverbnation, artist name gaylemyrna
So nice to see you playing piano. This is a really beautiful song. It's so true...we can never know what another person is experiencing. "When you judge another person, you do not define them. You define yourself as someone who needs to judge others." Dr. Wayne Dyer
@ispinimor Thanks I appreciate the kind words. I am not sure myself that this song is really a tribute. But I certainly mean no dis respect by it. I enjoyed her music and I am sorry we wont be hearing any more.
You're amazing! No, really, that was great!

@WhoFan Thanks. You are right. I have had my share of demons too. And I am thankful that there are people that I have been able to talk to.

The circle goes 'round again: Jimi, Janis, Kurt, Michael (Hutchence), Shannon (Hoon), and Amy is just another link in this deadly chain...
Nice song, and a great point made!
