Mary was a newlywed in the spring of 1964, having married her first husband in 1963. Then Paul and she go and write this song and make it a concert staple. This couldn't have helped the marriage, could it? Did Paul not like the new husband Barry? Hmmmm
@BruceBeatlefan I remember on one concert recording. "People would ask, 'which one' are you married to? And I'd say 'neither or it wouldn't have lasted this long.' They'd say 'no no really. Which one?' You'd think I would know!" So I miss her wit along with her beauty and voice. I never saw her with short hair until after she died. And now I realize it probably wasn't her first choice. Her music lives on.
Mary was someone I never knew or ever met, but I grew up with her songs in the 60's and her passing leaves a hole in my heart that even now still wont go away! Such a beautiful beautiful voice, in such a beautiful person, such a loss to humanity.
Great song and sung from the heart - i really don't intend to speak ill of the dead but i guess that having been married four times does give the song (given that she and Stookey wrote it) a certain 'edge'
Mary oh so lovely.

@BruceBeatlefan This song dates back to around 1850. They didn't write it.

We are richer for having had Mary Travers live in our time, and we are poorer now that we've lost her.

My heart aches for Noel Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow - to lose their beloved friend and musical partner.
