  • RIP Mikey Welsh!

  • @kennedy78757 RIP John Entwistle, another bass player who nothing to do with this song...

  • @ExcuseMyDerp Unfortunately John Entwistle, Mikey, and Paul Gray from Slipknot all died the same way.

  • @ExcuseMyDerp

Mikey is playing bass in this video, so I'm pretty sure he has something to do with this performance.

  • Listening to this, way after PInkerton took its toll, it just doesn't have that intensity Rivers had in his performances during the albums initial release. Now that the album settled and everyone had their fare share of hatred toward it (and eventually coming back to it), it just doesn't have the same emotional power that made Weezer lovable in the first place. How the times have changed.

  • tits

  • Is that Mikey Welsh??!?!?!

  • @JACK8DAVIS yeah.

  • Epic =w=

  • green album era' Rivers is the best in my opinion =D

  • are they using the pod system here?

  • are they using the POD system here?

  • Rivers Cuomo is amazing.

  • The difference between Rivers and Dimebag would be that Rivers is an excellent guitarist, excellent with melody and harmony and when he tries, an excellent songwriter. Dimebag, on the other hand, was an excellent guitarist.

I really would say Rivers is on his skill level - the dude was a huge metalhead as a teen and spent hours practicing and learning. He just realizes endless shredding isn't right for the kind of songs he's into and writes, thus he rarely gets the chance to bust it out.

  • If you like this vid you should check out their performance of this in japan is way better.

  • this is a *great* song

  • go mikey welsh!

  • Brian's hair is awesome in this video. So fluffy!

  • camera is totally at all the wrong angles during the solo.

  • Pinkerton is their best album ever!

  • amazing !!

  • i think the solo on this song really demonstrates rivers potential

  • absolutely.

  • which he needs to use more!

  • for sure. it isn't his best solo, but it is the fastest.

  • It's not potential, it's just what he chooses to play. That guy could shred your dick off if he wanted to. Rivers Cuomo owns the guitar, plain and simple.

  • i doubt hes a great soloist....he no steve vai or dimebag, hes rivers.

  • you doubt he's a great soloist? Not only could he match technical skills with nearly anyone, but his ability to match a solo to a song is amazing. I realize he usually follows the melody for the most part, but that guy can just hit a solo spot on for a given song. If he wanted to he could easily reach the levels of guitar soloists with high technicality.

  • hahaha, you have no idea what the guy's capable of. If you're curious, look up Avant Garde, which was his high school metal band. Kiwieata is right, his technical ability is there to match just about anyone. The dude flat out owns the guitar. Just because he chooses to be commercially accessible and not fit a metal solo in a genre that it doesn't really work with doesn't mean he's not a good soloist. I'd gladly take him against Vai or Dime if he were still around.

  • and better yet he knows how to write very melodic solos that fit the song and have a purpose. I'll take a simple melodic solo over shredding anyday, though I'd still take Rivers in a shred-off.

  • Ok...Ill admit...I had no clue and he is great guitarist. But I never hear much soloing from weezer and you can lose your technicality over time. So whos knows, Im sure hes capable of alot but ive heard local aritsts who have the same soloing ability as that if not better. But really? dimebag? Rivers wins in melody and harmonie with his guitar but dimebag just kicked so much of a higher form of ass on the fret board. It was just the solos he created and the pure emotion into the shredding.

  • @Broodkill I really doubt he's lost his technicality. I mean Weezer has constantly toured. We only see Cuomo when he's in Weezer so who knows what he plays when he just messes around. These days I've heard he doesn't even play guitar on stage though. Even still I doubt he's lost his ability, a little rusty possibly but I'd wager once he got going he could play just about whatever.

  • who wants to wank out on the guitar like vai or satriani? that shit is tired and played out

  • @teebs79 You could also say whining and screaming into the mic over simple music is tired and played out...but it's all just a matter of taste.

  • @kiwieata agreed

  • @vanscralen2ll2

Well he's got a lot of potential, but really, that doesn't proove any special potential at guitar playing, there are like thousands of better solos at the metal industry for example, but well he's a decent singer and good composer, so ye, he's nice

  • @NooBFTWin accually rivers grew up playing in metal bands, so hes and amazing guitar player, he just doesnt show it in weezer

  • @vanscralen2ll2 yup. I never really thought much of him as a guitarist until i heard the solo

  • Yeah, Lupos is a good performance if your looking for an energized Rivers. Thing is, despite the fact that he seems like he'd rather not be on stage, this is still as solid a performance as I've seen.

  • I think Rivers delivered this song better on Pinkerton, but it still rocks.

  • dlu tahun 2002 aku sma kawan2 aku trip weezer ni.wakakakakakakakakaka

  • i like el scorcho and tired of sex alot...i have to say blue album is the best...even despite how often i heard it over the others

  • I still think Pinkerton is their best work. Just the emotional catharsis of every song. It's fantastic.

  • yeah, i agree.

  • You can tell how much Rivers hated this song.

  • He put absolutely no effort into this performance but that doesn't mean that he hates the song. He's probably just tired.

  • ....of having sex!

    =D

  • Exactly. I seen him give really amazing and impassioned performances of this song.

  • he's also probably cold, hence the jacket

  • pinkerton is better than the blue album

  • this song is f*ckin' great :D

  • Mikey is a golden god

  • god i miss mikey :/

  • pinkerton is my favorite album of theres

  • WEEZER FTW!!!!

  • sweet vid mants song
