Darn this is three years old. I hope you get this. What exactly is insulated "bell" wire? Do you mean telephone wire, and if so what kind? In the video it looks like one solid flat ribbon of wire but that must not be the actuall case. Try and explain in American terms. Thanks.
The capacitor connects ONLY to the loop. It is a passive device that uses resonance to "amplify" a weak signal. By placing a radio next to the antenna and tuning the antenna to the resonant frequency (using your ears), your radio is picking up the resonance (an electromagnetic phenomenon similar to vibration) off the loop antenna. The signal enters the loop and is boosted as the signal bounces back and forth in the IC loop (the antenna is an inductor). The antenna is directional.
ok maby u can help me i was hooking up my am loop antena and i acitentalt touched the are wiers to somthing on the back of the amp and i go a small plome os smoak can u expane this?
Re value of the capacitor, most descriptions I've read state 500pf built I prefer a little larger. I've bought 2 gang caps (350 +450) and joined both gangs together. This I glue to a 20 inch square frame made from 2inch by 1 inch wood and I wind 10 turns of enamelled copper wire (usually from TV scanning coils or from an old transformer)

Looks to be a very good antenna. Would sure like to see a demo of this antenna and some AM Dxing. Thank you!
