  • OSHA...ain't it fun? Meanwhile, You be sitting playing a great tune on Your beautiful instrument...the TrueFun...thanks John for sharing Your Music!

  • @reliablebow Thanks Michael! I see you have a couple new ones up too! I'll be a visiting soon! Yeah, OSHA, uff da! They sure are expensive consultants. I'd recommend some one else!

  • Thanks John. I do use the everythingdulcimer site and found a couple of arrangements. I started working on one in DAA. Not quite as sophisticated as the version you have here but it's coming along.

  • @rod1148 I'm not too familiar with the DAA tuning as my strings are too thin to tune my melodies that low. But if you want me to try and tab what I do, let me know and I will work on it. thanks so much for your kind comments!

  • I like this song. What tuning are you using? DAA or DAD or other? I'd like to learn this. Do you have the tab or is it your own arrangement? Very well done.

  • @rod1148 I believe I'm in DAD, but it might be step lower in CGC. It is my own arrangment, but I based off tabs from "everythingdulcimer" website. Let me know if you need help finding their very informative site. They have a lot of free tabs. And thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment!

    Regards! ~John

  • YOur my hero John!! I could listen to you and your Dulcimer all night long in the back of some smoky tavern!! WOWOW!!!

  • I have always said I do sound much better when you're drunk. I have also heard people say I should sing tenor (ten or twelve miles away) lol Thanks Dan, it sure would be fun to meet up in a tavern and sing some songs together. But I am sure I would get commode huggin' drunk!

  • Hey thats a good one jayrbee. I enjoyed that. Glad you were able to unwind!

    Roger

  • good stuff I love the dulcimer..I just restrung mine and hope to use it in some of my stuff to..is a greatly underrated insterment

  • This does sound relaxing when you play it. Thanks. I love the song, too. I hope the visit went well.

  • Hey friend! Thank you, this is one of my favorite "relaxing ones". (I think the visit went well too - all in all.)

  • Sounds Great John!!!! A new one to me my friend!!! Who are th OSHA? The phone sounds a bit like someone snorring lol.

  • Thanks Pete, Over on this side of the pond, they are the federal "Occupational Safey and Health Administration. They come to your facilities and look for safety issues and rifle through your paperwork. A real hassle sometimes.

  • John,I enjoyed this! It's a great mood that you set with the instrument.I love your sound with this tune. The phone buzz was in tune with the song.Sometimes mistakes add something. thanks my friend, take care, winston

  • Ah yes. music is definitely calming! Yes, sometimes mistakes are the mother of invention! Thanks for watching Winston.

  • uggghh, I'm all to familiar with OSHA. In another life I did the safety training at a small trucking company. I took the position quite seriously. In a couple factories we had OSHA inspections. but the inspectors aren't there to make the workplace safer, they're there to find stuff to write up. And they work without the time constraints the rest of us do. So it's put your work on hold and cater to the government. what a racket, hope you got to relax after all that.

  • lol... That's hitting the nail smack on the head. I feel sorry for the office personnel who have to put all the crap back away that I amde them dig out. and really... Who really looks at an MSDS in a sawmill - except the feds. I am certainly relaxin' now though, although a bit uptight - I'm out of gin and getting dangerously low on whiskey!

  • did you get a cell number from the inspector's ? I dare you to call them and explain the situation, tell them you need some Old Grandad for the safety and health of your occupation and well-being.

  • LOL!!! Now I have a little less 'cause some came out my nose! hahaha! Thanks Danny!

  • well, I figure it's about time those fuckers do something productive, even if it is just a whiskey run. might as well have 'em grab you a pizza while they're at it.

  • You betcha!!! thanks for the chuckles Danny! lol

  • That is real good man. Only way to deal with OSHA is to ignore 'em. Play your dulcimer and all will be well...

  • Thanks Archie and I agree... but with the qualification that it may be cheaper to suck up to them... and being the manager I sometimes have to bite my tongue. This time last year I was playing music all day everyday and that just don't pay the bills.

  • Yeah, brother, that's the dilemma.

  • Yikes! Osha! Great job, John!

  • Yeah OSHA, they can cast a shadow over a bright day, but their intentions are in the right spot. I have the same goal as them, (reducing injuries) but they have a much more effective incentive program than I do! I took Monday off, but certainly got a full weeks work in this week. Now I can relax for a day or two! Thanks John!

  • Incredible John!! You have truly found your niche!! I feel the spirit moving these old drunken bones bro!!! Weeping tears of joy

  • Hey Dan... Thanks for the huge smile! I'm havin a wee bit o' whiskey as I type... I'll join ya for one (or ten).

  • There are many versions of this song, with different words and different tunes even - but though I know it by the title "Little Sparrow", yours is the version I know and love, and you play it beautifully, John. Your treatment of it is one of the best I've heard, and your dulcimer is the perfect instrument for such a tender rendition. By the way, the phone almost sounds intentional - a bit like a didgeridoo, I think!

    Lovely stuff: 5*.

    Best wishes,

    Paddy

  • Yes, I should have put "Little Sparrow" in the "more info" part of the video and I also skipped another verse that I know, but keeping with the theme is why I played and instrumental verse. This is such a lovely and heart felt song, I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. And... now that you mention it, yeah, i guess it was kind of a didgeridoo sound too it... I should have used that! Thanks Paddy!

  • This is a SPLENDID song that I wanted to record as my next video. You just anticipated me with this awesome rendition. I fear I won't upload my version: yours is too perfect. THANKS, truly. This is perfectly beautiful. Un abbraccio, ciao, Marco.

  • OH please do!!! I would love to hear your arrangement. I know your guitar style would compliment this song greatly! I am anxiously awaiting - Thank you so much!

  • very nice! I was listening for a -ringing- phone, then I thought that was some sort of low grunting (OSHA makes us do that a lot) but then I remembered phones don't ring anymore now they rumble. Is it me or is it sort of in tune?

  • LOL.. yep, it was the low grunting at @ 1:30, now that you mention it, I wonder what key it does vibrate at.... Thanks!

  • Great job John! Love when you get the dulcimer out:) All my stars! Have a wonderful weekend!

    *****

  • Thank you so much Jane, you should keep your eye open for one of these doohickeys! They are fun! I am nearly ready to start my weekend, you have a great one too!

  • Good one John. You're handlin that box rightly with a good tone. D.

  • Thank you Damion, there are SO many nice versions of this song, I thought I'd snap people back to reality... lol I love the simplicity of the open tuning on this - if one knows the melody, one can pretty much play it.

  • aaah them fair, tender ladies....gotta love 'em....

  • Ahhh yes - but be careful - for if you get one pregnant, 115 pounds of sugar, spice and everything nice can turn in to 160 pounds of pure bitching power!

  • This lovely song sounds great accompanied by the dulcimer. 5*

  • Thank you so kindly Raymond! Very much appreciated!

  • LOL I doubt they would too! Thanks a million!

  • Sounding great on that Dulcimer John. A great rendition of this old song. -Ron

  • Thanks Ron, Like your recent collab too!

  • great job my friend!!

  • Hey Dan! Thank you so much!

  • Ahhh yes! So that is the warm feeling I just got in my belly! Thank you!!!!

  • Greetings

    John...

Your method of relaxation is in turn,a treasured gift for we the audience. This listening experience is certainly a more effective manner of lowering the level of stress one may have had to go through during their daily activities. The no frills and acoustically authentic approach to both your singing and strumming upon that beautiful specimen is superior to any medication developed by man...nourishing to the soul and very life affirming, indeed.

    Pax & Thanks,

    Max

  • Just as music calms my nerves and warms my soul, so do your kind an generous comments. You my friend are a treasure.
