Hello bah53, I need your help or any assistance you can/will be able to give! I have the same exact car, 1963 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday. Hunting for parts is a challenge and I'm currently addressing the hissing sound at the power brake booster check valve. I have many questions and really can use some help.
@bga4life So far I haven't been able to find anyplace that has brake booster parts for it. I may try to take it apart again and see what I can do to stop the leak. Your best bet is either to buy a new booster (sometimes ebay has them) or try to find one out of a junkyard to get the parts you need.

@bah53 I actually meant 4GC even though it wasn't labeled as such. Same thing as the old Rochester 2 Jet was the 2GC or 2GV if it had the remote choke thermostat. I had the 2GV on my 67 Impala and it's a reliable piece. People always bad mouth the Quadrajet and it does get complicated with more moving parts. I would have liked to try a 4GC on my Impala as they were used on 283 and 327s. It might not have been as refined as a Quadrajet but would have been simpler to keep up.
@bah53 And nice car. I love the 60's GM cars. A friend of my cousin had a 64 88 with the Rocket V8 394 Ultra High Compression and automatic trans, I don't remember if it was a Superturbine or Dnynaflow. Might have been a Hydramatic I don't know those too well just Chevrolet Powerglides. The 88 was a handful.
@robertaz47 I would also see if the piston is stuck from corrosion or fuel deposits and that the spring isn't weak. I personally prefered the chokes with the remote thermostat spring and vacuum diaphragm as they seemed to bind up less.
all ive ever had to do was plug in the camera and go to my computer, find the camera and open it up and get the videos off. your setup could be different tho
well ive got to take the manifold off first to see how much of the bolt is left sticking out. if i dont have enough sticking out to work with, ill have to find a way to drill it out. If theres enough left ill try to turn it. There are lots of ways to do this, search "Flathead Ford Intake removal" the video by rpeek shows how he got some bolts out. worst case senario you might have to take the head off if you dont have enough room to work in the engine compartment
I really like that Olds. Those 371/394s are bad to break exhaust studs...good luck with that. The choke might just be dirty and gunked up somewhere. Those pull hot air into the choke housing to unwrap the spring, so if there's exhaust invading it, it can gum it up in a hurry. Remember, on those 4GC carbs, the back bowl never gets the gas used out of it unless you hit the secondaries, so drive it and hit the 4bbl every month or so to keep the gas fresh back there.
yeah, i noticed when i was playing with the linkage that it would stick and felt "gunky" so ill have to take it off and clean it, but thats a project for a warmer day
That's a pretty good camera setup - that'll teach that POS camera to die in the middle of videos! lol! The best batteries to use for a setup like that are non-spillable 12V batteries that are made for large flashlights.
As for the car, it's good to see it running better!

Take the choke cover off and check that it's piston has not fallen part way out of the cylinder.
