  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the vid.

  • What hats are you using? they sound beautiful. good lesson too!

  • TY

  • @xlhotlx hahahaha wtf. nice vid

  • i just wanna say that you cant have any old snare and head and make your ghosts sound like this. He has nice shit and is mic'd so its a little different

  • i'm trying to learn the one on 0:41 can you make a toutorial

  • "Let's do this one slow first then take it up to speed." Correction, let's do this one at normal tempo around 100BPM then take it up to crazy ass fast. "Then let's try that one a little faster." Let's do that one hell-a-fuckin' fast and blow your fucking mind!

  • man he is an amazing drummer and teacher! ^_^

  • Thanks for this video, Jared! Ghost notes are amazing and kind of hard to be well executed! :D

  • @NeCtRiCkS why is everyone getting so mad at something that makes no sense lmao?

  • 4:46 last groove slow

  • this is so similar to jungle

  • this rules

  • nice teacher !

  • Hi Jared, Musa here.

I went on vacation recently for 6 weeks, only did practice pad rudiments. now im back and jumped on my kit again and im not very happy at the results... i lost skill.. what are some steps i can take to regain it again? speed, control, stamina, etc.

also, how can you improve your drum creativity.

  • that last beat is so awesome but so hardddddddddd lol

  • @xlhotlx u mad bro?

  • @holyshiet787 yeah. why?

  • wow nice drumming.

  • the mic doesnt do shit

  • i have to turn my speakers up all the way to hear...

  • Could someone tell me what drum gum is? does it protect the drum head?

  • @ImMrJoey drum gum is for muffling the drum head, mostly if it sounds rattly or too sharp. most rattling can be elimated by tightening the snare wires.

  • @NoVAPunkLover thanks. i kind of knew wat it was about a month ago. and i already know that tightening the snare skin does get rid of rattling. Good definition though. thanks.

  • The modified paradiddle sounds great at the half speed demo.

  • @xlhotlx haha awesome... but yeah chill

  • @Lothnothus ...?

  • I like it without the ghost notes.

  • 7 people should have gone to specsavers :)

  • ^_^

  • hey you think you could make a video about how to play the drum fill at the beginning of sober by tool?

  • @xlhotlx ease up man, this guy is a great drummer and he's helped my playing alot so even though you don't buy into it, let the people who want to learn a few things buy in, it's free yo.

  • @bloomtoferal it was a complete joke. does "im not buying in to you right-wing bullshit" even make sense? cant we all just be friends?

  • The only thing that troubles me are the first ghost notes :(

  • @xlhotlx Wow..you sound like an angry person. Cheer up will ya?

  • @jaredfalk Jared can you do a video that shows your technique with ghost notes? I always just try and move my wrist up and down as fast as I can and I think that's why I suck at them lol.

  • @jaredfalk alright Jared I will, thanks!

  • cool drum lesson...!!!

  • looks like I'm gonna download some shit music

  • Great lesson, and very well presented!

  • i didn't know nick swardson played drums

seriously though, very helpful video, i've always understood the concept behind ghost notes, but my motion was all in the arms, having a higher quality vid with close-up on the snare hand really helped me dial in on the wrist motion.

    thanks a lot nick swardson!

  • ทำไงผมถึงจะตีได้แบบนี้มั่งอ่าาาาา

  • The first beat sounds way better when it's played slowly.

  • mmmm i like it way better with the ghosts notes..

  • Guys! If anyone can write me in paradidls, as this guy playing? For example RLL...!

    Please!

  • @jednamamba i dont know what youre asking but a paradiddle is RLRRLRLL

and an inverse paradiddle is RLLRLRRL

  • At 6:10 his face is like, ORGASM!!!

  • @codhero95 its beacuse its how do you feel when you play like that

  • @codhero95 no its not dude shut up

  • What I love about this pattern is underneath all of the ghost notes is a slow bass beat that sounds intense like a heart.

  • question! when u play the ghost notes, are u using the rebound or is it just muscle?

  • @rjeeves101 rebound.

  • What kind of tom heads u got?

  • @TheSniperr2 They are Evans G2's Batter, Evans G1 as a resonant.

  • Aren't you that guy Terry from Reno 911?

  • @nbryc wow he totaly does look like nick swardson.

  • VERY GOOD MAN ! Keep on rockin'

    Steve

  • Cool lesson!

  • one of the best drum lessons and teachers i have seen for far on youtube, he's not like the teacher who are just talking too much and play only shit!! great beats!! (:

  • All this damn time, and I finally figure out what it's called

  • holy shit man u are fkn insane. how much do u practise?

  • Awesome,thank you!!

  • i love this guy no homo. hes awesome !!!!!! you rock bro! =]

  • @javier20893 homo. XD

  • wow! drumlessons on YOUTUBE that's worth LEARNING ;o!

  • Jared, your teaching method is very easy to pick up and learn. It is simply explained. Can you tell me about your gear? What DW finish is that?

    What cymbals do you use?

    Thanks

  • @dennyinsdca cymbals are zidjian k's if im correct

  • ha hes giveing a bj @ 5:33

  • Jared is a beast. period

  • this is incredible. THANK YOU!!!!

  • listen to SKY LARKIN. Nestor, their drummer makes some incredible beats that are challenging and feel great to play.

  • Awesome dude, watch all your videos, and your live broadcast too, but not so live in my case.

  • Ive been watching your videos for a while now. I think you should keep up the good work on your OWN videos. This is much more advanced than "freedrumlessions". plus this is more personal, i can tell you're being your self more here. Also, is that a dw snar? Hardware looks like PDP or DW. keep it up man, learning alot from you!

  • awesome, thats a lot from chad smith style dude

  • Liked it. except for that second one. there i like the rosana beat on the bass drum better =).

  • Love the videos!!!

  • Jared can you teach how to do things like in 6:46 - 6:48

we would love that ! awesome drumming here!

  • the third one sounds a bit like something Thomas Pridgen played in Bedlam in Goliath

  • Haha the first one sounded better slower.

  • nice drum beat, I love it man

  • what hihats are those??

  • @jmw1993

looks like Zildjian K Custom Session Hi-Hats 14"

  • really nice touch these chap has. what mdel is the ride cymbal? sounds amazing.

  • lol I pretty much subscribed after seeing the last part of the video, some damn tight drumming

  • Best lesson ever. Im still watching it from time to time. And yes, I will record these patterns some day Jared, belive me :). Thanks again for making the lesson upon my request. Its awesome that you did it.

  • thank check out my videos

  • thx, i can take these beats and make some beats of my own.

    thanks a lot

    5/5

  • Hahahahahahahah Fucking basic shit

  • Right,i;m not the only drummer who has there mouth open,it's hard for your brain to pull your mouth back up while playing a really fast beat:l

  • @Sheishness It promotes relaxation too. A lot of tension is built up in the jaw.

  • fkn ghost notes :D

  • he is funny when he talks..anyway great lesson such agood teacher

  • he looks like a chicken at 3:05, when hes playing

  • actually, he looks the singer of mest, tony lovato or something

  • @ToOlOGT22 hahahaha well spotted

  • He tries to play faster than he can and it sounds messy. Need to play slower and groove those beats.

  • I would like to know the sticking for the paradiddle grove at 4.50

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Thanks , that is a sweet groove thanks for the sticking.

  • very nice!!!!

  • he looks exactly like nick swardson

  • Party...

  • thats intense

  • at 5:40 it sounds like hes climaxing after getting head while playing

  • ROFL!

  • 5:40 wow

  • I think it sounds crap though. Looks impressive though.

  • i know he's kinda lame... i mean he was on expert village! lol! and they love those C-class musicians! :)

  • No, I was talking about 5:40, that sounded crap. The rest was pretty good.

  • Oh shit he's fucking good. Jesus.

He was probably listening to Tera Melos or something... that drumming was crazy.

  • Hey would that second beat he played be good for speeding up your left hand? o.o

  • A grace note is much different than a ghost note. A grace note is more like an accented hit. And yes, this is advanced drumming. It ventures further into the realm of dynamic drumming, which is something every drummer should study and practice.

  • Thats exacly what he said

  • did he say "Hey runt!" at the beginning?

  • Yeh he did xD

  • hey EVERYONE... It took me a few listens to work it out! :P

  • they are called GRACE NOTES!

  • there i saved you from further thumb downs

  • both, I think

  • they're also called GHOST NOTES

  • I like to avoid all triple strokes. You can do that on this beat by playing the ghost-note before the snare stroke with your right hand.

  • why they are so useful

  • even at slow speed :D

  • But then you look gay and unprofessional while you're playing...But, sounds like a good idea.

  • I Love your Style

  • This is advanced drumming? o.O

  • how do you define "advanced" when it comes to drumming?

  • sounds better slow

  • I agree.

  • lol haha he sounds like Jon Heder XD!

  • And he looks like Nick Swardson!

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • lmao he does

  • nice grooves

  • I'm a yr7 atm, I started in March and I'm better than the YR9's.

  • you both sound really pathetic, playing an instrument is not about being better than any one, its about expression get a grip and just play. I started playing in year 7, and i been in bands ever since, im now leaving year 11 and have a good solid album almost finished, im not showing of here but stop treating the drums as a sport, and instead treat it as an art form.

  • LOL ty =].

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty lucky to get a good band going in school tbh :)

I've put up with awful guitarists, vocals and bassists for 5 years..

  • Them ghost notes really complement the syncopated beats really nice.

  • Jared Falk has to be one of the most technical and solid drummers I have heard. His teaching method is flawless too. He makes what's probably the only good video drum lesson kit.

  • now im laughing everytime he turns around

  • yeah! he has to be a robot! lol

he just takes his time turning around to the microphone. that prooves it! ha

  • What a beautiful set! Sound brilliant. Nice groove too!

  • oh my god he's a amazing drummer and teatcher:P

  • my god, Jared is so flawless and technical in his beats, never making a single mistake, I've come to the conclusion, hes a sophisticated drumming robot from the future

  • Actually, on the second rhythm, his bass drum notes are different when he switches from slow to fast. No doubt he's good, but not flawless. ;)

  • heyyy that wasn't very kind. but that did make me laugh :D

  • well..I dont think that snare has really good response :\ makes the ghost notes all choppy

  • THOSE GHOST NOTES SOUNDING FINE

  • I find his ghost notes to be too pronounced. They sound alot better if you accent on the hi hat on every second hit.

  • The slow ones even sound better somehow...

  • probably cus its a really groovy beat

  • you can only do these after a year? i think u're a bit slow..

  • I could have done these about 6 or 7 months in to my playing. I just thought that it would have taken a little longer to get to the "advanced stage".

I'm not slow at all, im probably the 2nd or 3rd best drummer in my school (not meaning to brag here), and both of those are in 6th form (im in year 10) and one of those has been playing for 6 years and the other for 3. So I don't think im doing that bad.

  • dont listen to anyone who says your slow.

They're just trying to show off.

Anyone who can do this at 6-7 months is great.

    besides,

at 5 years of playing it wont make a difference anyways.

  • Cool ideas.... nice groove in the slower ones.... thanks

  • Okay i see your snare is a DW but are yours drums pdp? I believe pdp also makes that finish and so does DW. Id like to know thanks.

  • jared i would like to know what bass drum mic u are using and also ur mixer.. that would b greatly apreeicated. thanks and did u down loaded any applications to eq ur drums?? if so which?

  • beast on that paradiddle beat dude!!! xP

  • thanks jared it really helped me out

  • hi 5

  • Great drumming man!

  • i thought it sounded better when you played it slower

awesome sounding kit by the way

  • Thanks man! Yah, I like it slower as well.

    - Jared

  • Hey Jared !

What sticks do u use? there vic firth but what model? classic 5A's?

  • I use Vic Firth Extreme 5A drumsticks.

  • Thanks! Ur kit is awesome,so are U!

  • WOW Jared! just...WOW! You're amazing! this will help me out a lot when im at the level of experience to be able to kinda play this :P. I LOVED the paradiddle beat man, it sounded so great! Btw, i just got my Mapex Q drum kit :D W00T! ~:^)

    peace out

  • Glad it helped out. I love Mapex kits...I have played my fair share of them and never really had a bad sounding one.
