I can tell he wanted to kill the interviewer when he asked "how long have you been in the hip-hop game?"...then he explained the difference between hiphop culture-graffiti, rhyming, etc, and the hiphop "game"-corporations, contracts, LIES...IT'S BIGGER THAN HIP HOP!!!...Hip-hop has been turned into a game, literally...now it's worth is based on album sales over content...DEAD PREZ, FUCK THE POLICE, LET'S GET FREE!!!
I agree with iamcitizen01, the hardcore punk rock was all about overhauling the government system. I am glad to see that dead prez is also doing that because there are too many rappers that talk about problems but no one offers any solutions.
Punk rock is in the same boat. We have some artists in the mainstream making a mockery of our name, undeserving of even being associated with the ideals of "punk" rock as a movement. We have others, especially more-so in the underground (and true) scene, with an agenda/goals/causes/pretense. There's a lot of potential in both of these genres because they are a force of social change first and an a source of entertainment second. Real mother fuckers, word up.
