Shaun Evaristo's choreo is like one of the highest level of choreo a dancer could ever learn. His moves are unique, he knows how to flow, and he knows what moves the music needs. His choreo might not be that difficult or complicated in the eyes of some people, but at the end of the day, it's the skills and creativity that matter the most.
the bay has a whole different style i love it. very unique and impressive. Shauns amazing and one of the dopest choreographers! the bay needs to bring their intricate styles down south! keep it up!!
Shuan is a friggen amazing choreographer .. like if you ever get to take a workshop from him your so lucky, prbly every dancer knows who Shuan is because he's that sick of a dancer & choreographer.
oh and btw, if you look at the website for abdc and click yuri tag's profile thing and one of the question was saying who is her dancing idols, Shuan is one of them.
just to like to point that out
but i gatta say gentwo & kaba modern are both sick crews with sick dancers.
what the hell do you know about the dance community?
if you knew anything, youd pay attention to choreography, transitions, formations, etc. but i dont think you did
just cause u saw them on americas best dance crew doesnt mean they're better. do you even know who shaun evaristo is? i bet not. so stfu when you dont know anything about dancing, you main-stream mutha f*****!
The Camp is an insane dance crew when it comes to choreography, but I have to hand it to Kaba when it comes to intricuit movements. Kaba's moves are way more complicated and the fact that they can do THOSE moves with such precision and all together puts me on their side. The camp is much better at being together with their choreography and their transitions are smoother, but that's all choreography. Kaba's just better at higher level moves and this performance by the camp just isn't high.
have you even tried doing their stuff? it's a LOT harder than it looks. i'm not saying kaba's is easier, but if you haven't noticed already kaba isnt always just about isos and intricate movement. they change their styles. plus in the end shouldn't it be about how good the choreography is not about how hard the moves are? plus, kaba's dancers have a teeny difficulty in changing styles, the camp's sets are ALWAYS different every time.
are you only getting your knowledge of Kaba from ABDC? If so, go do some research on dance teams before you come to general conclusions. And plus everyone on the Kaba team on ABDC is no longer on Kaba. They're on KM legacy which no longer competes and only does exhibitions.
Nah I've known about Kaba for a while and I've seen Kaba Legacy at Vibe in January. I know that they were chosen by the rest of the leaders and that they are alumni now.
And I just have a preference for Tony Tran and Mike Song's collective choreo because it's popping based. I just like intracuit movement and I think Kaba is better at that because of their certain leaders. Shawn Duong has a really good popping style and I've prefered his choreo over a lot of others as well.
so ur saying you like the popping choreo of Tony and Mike over Shaun's smooth choreo? Because ur first post sounded like u separated choreography and "intricate" movements into different catagories. It's still the same just different styles. Choreography is a universal term.
Yeah, i do wish Kaba still had Mike and Tony. Missed their popping and krump sections at this year's vibe.
lol yeah I just worded that wrong. I really haven't liked "smooth" choreo too much unless it incorporates sum sort of sharper movement. I like choreo that hits hard and hits the beat to a point you can see it easier.
Yeah, they also cite Lando Wilkins as their inspirations as well, and I think I like when Tony takes from that style because it's much sharper. Lando cites Joe Larot and Kevin Brewer as his inspirations and their styles are usually sharp when it comes to articulating beats as well. Unrelated: Why are you replying to something I said 3 months ago?
Yea when it comes down to it; EVERYONE has their share of inspirations. That's what makes dance (or things in life in general) so cool. You can be inspired from someone and/or something by what they do, yet you can always put YOUR OWN flavour in it which makes it who YOU are.
Answer to your unrelated question: Why not? I was simply watching this vid, reading the comments, read your what you had to say, and I shared what I had to say..
Very valid point. What I'm trying to say is that my personal preference are styles that are sharper, and all the inspiration that goes along with that, whether that be Lando, Kevin, Joe, Tony, or Shaun's style. Whenever they have sharper choreograph, I like it more than when it's smooth. Also, I was asking why your replying to a comment made 3 months ago because in a span of 3 months I could have changed my opinions completely and the question wouldn't have been relevant. It's a bit of a gamble.
Oh yea for sure. I have nothing against anyone's preference. Different types of choreographers attract different types of dancers.
In regards to the 3 month span; Oh of course!! Yes it's a gamble, but it's all good. Again, when it comes down to it; inspiration doesn't have to become duplication but rather modification. There's that cycle that Mike was talking about the week KM got elimination from ABDC. They will continue to be inspired while they THEMSELVES continue to inspire.
Yeah definitely. Dance is already evolving because of the inspiration that most of these crews have on each other, let alone those outside the dance community. I do hope that soon dancers will get more credit for what they do than they do now. Despite the fact that hip hop dance is an art form that causes people to understand interact with each other, it's still looked down upon by most outside of the dance circle.
I heard Shane Sparks is trying to get dancers/choreographers like Marty Kudelka, Tony Testa, Shaun, etc. the same amount of pay as movie stars & artists. Did you hear about that too? Man if he pulls that off, I think that dance circle will break havoc onto the world.
That'd definitely be the day. Rappers and Movie stars get paid so much for their art forms, so I think it's time that other art forms came up and people could at least make a living. I don't think anyone should make millions and millions from one thing, but work in an art shouldn't require such a struggle for survival that the art forms themselves are hindered. I think it'll take more than just Shane, but it's a good idea none the less.
..Whether I'm replying to a comment that was posted 3 months ago or 3 minutes ago, YouTube allows anyone and everyone to voice their word. You and I BOTH did that within a 3 month span. I haven't seen this performance for a long time. So I can assure you that I would've said what I had said to you regardless.
uhm...shaun evaristo is a great choreographer and this is a great dance company. don't go saying one's better than the other for no reason, they both doin what they love. why don't you go back to your basement and watch America's Best Dance Crew and pretend to know what you're talking about.

The Camp would have been robbed if they were second. what they placed is what they deserve. DS Players show was great and entertaining. The Camp was just hardcore hip-hop. great show. but i got bored.
heads are pretty messy, and also their formation man! i mean come on! u take a closer look at it...! how'd this piece won? it doesnt take a uniform costume to emphasize such execution either! i still go for KABA!
i think its just the vid that makes it look messy.but yea theyre formation could be tighter but mann comon its gen2 the company and apt.look at their individual skills its dopee
what? did DS Players really take 1st with only 3 ppl? i don't think that's cooh.i think it's harder for a bigger group of ppl to post a dope piece than it is for 3 ppl. haha iono about DS Players, they shouldn't have taken it. that's my opinion, but iono what the rubric was, all i know is that the camp was dope! NonStop was dope too hah. dope set.
there should be more appreciation to DS Players for their performance. 3 guys taking out groups with 20, 30, even 40 people. and they got a standing ovation after their set. there's nowhere to hide when it's just 3 people. it's easy to hide mistakes behind a giant crew. so give DSP the respect they deserve.
EXACTLY!! I was hoping someone would get it. These crews are cool and all, but personally I don't think a pack of 30+ is a good thing. You have a much more intimate setting between audience and performers with only a few people. The audience will be able to focus and respond better to less people. And it's much tougher to perform with a few people than an entire pack.
And they have performed with older styles with the locking and the boogaloo(I think). I think the judges/audience appreciated that. The people hating should appreciate it as well.
yall niggas are hype!! just like the dunk game in socal... HYPE!! just like boxing shoes in socal yall niggas will dissapear!! HYPE!! Where are all the flips and fancy gimmics at huh? HUH? ZERO FLIPS = ZERO LOVE. HYPE!!!
PS. If you gave Ray Charles a can of spray paint, some weed, and a bag of funnions, he could have done a better job on a backdrop...HYPE!!!
sorry i tried not to yell all over this video but it couldn't be helped - you guys looked amazing for real. as i watch it again i remember that from the opener and throughout you guys were on point, but when 'midnight' came on you guys were just so technically solid and really dancing as a single unit...and i could feel your energy from way up in the sky where my seat was. i seriously almost shed some tears, dammit i was so proud of you guys!!! :)
mad respect for the camp! if only i lived in the bay.. i'd totally audition. haha.. ya'll are super amazingly sickening! inspiration on the real. dope stuff. thanks for the chills :)
man ya'll had me on my feet the whole set. &ya'll know ya was robbed, but es aight. IM FEELIN THIS PIECE. madd props to ya'll. had the crowd pumpin the whole time
freaking SICK... you guys are such dope dancers, i love your performance, blocks, choreography... everything was on point. you guys are inspiring...and yes i agree with everyone else, you were robbed!
was so glad i was able to watch it live. fine job as always peoples.
PS- the camp and kaba got robbed!
still have mad respect for DS Players and Non-Stop (both sets were amazing as well), but felt the camp's cleanliness and kaba's wow factor should've placed higher on the judge's scales. ah well...
the camp! you guys are off the hook sick, oh my goodness. My mind couldn't contain all the amazing shit you threw out there at once, it was too dope to handle. Frikkin clean too, this set is just insane. Forsure, third doesn't do justice to the team, especially comin out with this set.
who else could bring 40+ people to the stage and make it look like fluid art? shaun evaristo, you have done it again. i've never gotten goosebumps from watching a show. definition God. the angle you got this from was dope as hell you could see all the formations mad clear. damn i'm like speechless. "that's my boyfriend!" aimee that was MAD CUTE hahah! 3rd place? impossible. alllllways #1 in my eyes ;]

the video definitely doesn't do the set justice.
was so glad i was able to watch it live. fine job as always peoples.

Got love from Kaba Modern to The Camp!
