The United States cannot support the amount of people in it's current role. Either it scales back and looks out for itself, or it continues to enforce it's will and defend/attack other countries in order to hold it's influence over the rest of the Earth. If the US rings it's coastlines with aircraft carriers and litters it's land borders with barbed-wire and missle systems, many countries without military and monetary support will fall/fail.
