The best band of the world, technically, emotionally above the other ones, and with no comparison when they are on stage. This song is the perfect symbol of their musical diversity and richness
@jiudae no way theres more of a mike patton theme behind everything i.m.o but the dillinger thing is on a whole new level nowdays its pretty much theirs now
@zero88777 i saw them play this in orlando on the night of option paralysis cd release. it was beyond belief. one of the greatest things ive ever seen. i cant wait to see widower.
@zero88777 about 75% of the way through their set. i actually saw animals and as leaders and i wrestled a bear once that night too. god what a good tour.
This song is my alarm clock. Not for any deep meaning, or because it 'gets me going', but can you imagine waking up to anything better? It's gentle enough to ease you into the world, but has enough force towards the middle/end to say "stop being lazy and get out of bed now. ¬_¬".
This song really gets you pumped!! As if your about to go into war or score a goal for your country in the final of the world cup.. it gives some sort of purpose to the intense feeling .. love it :D
One of my favorite by DEP. You could play this one to any music fan and they would be forced to admit it rocks. No styles matter when it is THIS good!
dillinger are eratic and muse are more about his vocals then anything else way different styles both are good bands i think dillinger is better but still stupid comment :p
amazing! its funny that narrow minded tossers who listen to bands like the killers and fall out boy dissmis "heavy metal" music because they think its about sceaming, chuging guitars and no melody and emotion but this is one of the most moving, epic, powerfull and wonderfully composed songs i have ever heard. great song, great album and great band
It's also funny that pretentious metal heads could listen to the beginning of this song, not knowing who it is, and dismissing it as lame or not 'brutal.' It's on both sides of the spectrum. Don't blame anyone, because really everybody is narrow minded. But this, this IS what music should be. This is emotion, this is talent. Just keep in mind someone somewhere disagrees and thinks they are just as right I think I am.
You're not very good with this whole 'understanding things' concept, huh? Not once did I say their songs weren't emotional. I'm saying don't diss on people who listen to other music, because in their minds they are as right as you think you are.
Now if you had actually read any of what I wrote, you'd have found that I said the opposite of what you thought I did. Dillinger Escape Plan are irrefutably some of the most talented individuals and their songs reflect that, physically and emotionally.
Maybe you're not good with the whole 'writing thing' or 'explaining yourself correctly' thing. You start off by saying a pretentious metal dude would dismiss this right off the bat for not being brutal enough. Then you went on to say that this kind of music (non-brutal music, using you previous statement as a reference point) is what music is really about. I agreed with your statement on being tolerant and understanding of all people's musical views, but you should explain yourself better.
@whothehellisoliesyke it's even worse when they're trying to say that gansta rap is actually great and means something. I see gangsta rap as a disgrace to a noble art! lol. Though im not trying to hate on those who listen to gangsta rap, i'm okay with that actually, as long as they don't come around me try to piss me off about how their music is better than mine.
@whothehellisoliesyke yes i know, replying to a 2 yr old comment, but...i happen to like a LOT of different stuff, and i have no trouble admitting it. i even like muse, i like the mars volta, i LOVE fair to midland, and yes, even like a few songs by the killers...and i love DEP. i'm just a fan of great music, period. some of it happens to have screaming, chugging guitars, too...
i think many fans of dep dont like this album bbc its really smoother well for me i prefer it to other more jazz etc. but somes of the old songs kick ass for my opignion
i expected a huge thrasher ending, just like off of miss machine...but i've gotta say...this was way more satisfying. so much power, so much emotion, DON'T YOU KNOW!? and when greg screams "reaching for the hands that turned closed", is..for me..one of the best moments in music.
This song is epic stuff fucking hell!....is it just me or is that little melody line near the end sound like a sample of Hocus Pocus with Sarah Jessica Parker saying "Come Little Children Ill Take Thee Away...."
those two people don' t understand a shit about life and music!!!

Yeah, it's "a mouth without a heart" in my opinion, it's about someone saying things, making promises without really meaning it "without a heart" ...
So "an action without meaning"
It makes sense to me.
