  • dude i got same macbook pro its running fine in 4gb now my question also is can i upgrade it more than 4gb?

  • that's a woeful video.. shoddy camerawork- no ESD mention, and HIDEOUS music..

  • Big question I have a late 2006 macbook pro. It has two slots but and the tech specs says it can handle up to 3GB.

So there's no way It can handle up to 4GB no matter it has 2 slots? I just spoke by phone with a macstore assitant and wasn't sure of the asnwer.

  • HOLY SHIT THAT MUSIC SOOO AWESOME!!!!!!1

  • Can someone answer this question please: This MacbookPro supports a maximum of 3GB. Do i purchase a 2GB RAM stick and slot it above the current Ram stick or do i switch them over or ...?

Whats the exact procedure? - Thanks in advance.

  • thank u for the video gonna bookmark it and install ram 2 morrow

  • very easy and informative video. People who Hate on this video get a life or get laid!!!!

  • No apparent ESD precautions were taken. Changing the SDRAM on your computer like this could damage it. (ESD = Electro Static Discharge)

  • hii thanks for uploading this video! What brand 8gb ram would you recommend ?

  • why film in darkness. You need light to teach and show what you are doing. Did you do your driving test with a blindfold on? Clarity makes ease.

  • @RaymondElMaid shut up.

  • @RaymondElMaid Do u work for Apple?!

  • @RaymondElMaid Do u work for Apple?!

  • great tutorial but if you could do it in a darker room I might think I was at a club

  • wow that was easier then i thought!

  • thanks nice and simple.

  • Thanks for the tip sure is of good help...want more apps and reviews for your Apple devices?..Subscribe to AppBuddy now. Thanks

  • very nice review

  • your hand was blocking it...

  • You can't afford macbook? Check out offer at macbook7 . com Go and get yours

    Liked it

  • What's the max memory for this Mbp?

    6? Posible?

  • @bridgebolt51 i'm afraid its only 3 GB .. so dont waste too much money you can put it 4GB and it only uses 3

  • thats not ram! you upgraded the memory, the ram is fixed to the motherboard inside the actual laptop...

  • @duckhouse21 the ram fixed to the motherboard is integrated ram. this is non integrated.

  • @duckhouse21 well... no actually that is RAM ram is random access memory and it can be from any part of the computer even an external memory bank so yeah just as long as its in flash memory form

  • Love this song what is the name and artist?

  • works on tiger?

  • i can't take the lid off! i tried on 2 macbook pros and the first screw to the right comes out easily, while the other 2 are really hard! was that the same for you?

  • what's the maximum ram a macbook pro can support, and what ram sticks are compatible? where can I find a list with compatible ones?

  • @AORNOfficial Macbook pro can support up to 8gb of ram.

  • No this does NOT void the warranty. We're not talking rocket science here... excellent, informative, video, really terrible music. Thanks.

  • does this void the warranty?

  • Do I backup first?

  • @earlbee31 It doesn;t mess with the HDD so no point, and if you sdo muck up the ram, then you can't boot into your mac anyway

  • Im giving away 4 GB to all you Macbook users, Check out my video on my channel!

  • i'm new to this , Do i have to save the ram's memory if that makes any sense , basically do i have to do anything program wise ,run in some kind of safe mode , anything recomended ? or do you just replace the ram like the video and thats it ? Thanks alot ! Luke

  • It's funny how all additional upgrades are overpriced at Apple store.

With 13'' MacBook Pro, getting 8GB RAM costs $600 extra on Apple store, whereas I can get Kingston 8GB memory for $431.99 on Amazon (exact same specs).

  • @darthirakli: get used to it never upgrade the specs of your Mac at the official Apple Store, mainly when it comes to RAM.

  • why isn't he wearing a anti static bracelet

  • there is a very low risk in getting a shock but its always good to ware one

  • he probably don't know that. plus you can touch the computers chassis to remove all the excess electricity in your body.

  • what is this song?? I MUST KNOW!

  • guys, this is a 2006 Mac Book Pro... (look at the post date) - that's why it doesn't look like the one you just bought.

  • why mac is make in asia,,,

how come america not make it

  • cuz in asia they paid workers $2 or $3 an hour, same thing with nike but that is in malasya.

  • My macbook pro's underside looks nothing like this. I got it a few days ago so that must be why.

  • i have final cut and its very nice, but i have no reason to lie about pc use in Hollywood when i do use a mac. I'm currently working on a film with a crew and I AM THE ONLY MAC USER so I had to buy an up to date pc laptop. Im just saying from what I've been around I sure its different on what's being filmed and etc.

  • I have my pro...I feel like a tool. I have to use it for school and had no choice. I will still argue that the Mac is "nice" but for the price I could have bought a top of the line Dell that is 4x faster with better grafix card and more mem and ram. Oh well, I guess I'm a sheep now. OH, and I do have connections in movie and film and YES they all I mean ALL use PC.

  • By any chance do you go to the Art Institute of Chicago.

  • no, i checked them out in DC but decided to go to UMBC.

  • hahahahahahahahaha wow your a joke noone in the film industry uses pc its all mac now avid is no more its all final cut

  • That's a old mac............ :(

  • This is the model I have but it is easier to UPGRADE than the models out now!

  • Why are you telling me this? I know that already, I was just saying -_-

  • I just felt like commenting from my experience and it wasn't aimed towards you. It's really not a big deal to get your panties in a bunch. :/

  • Yeah sorry I have half of anger managment problems. Lol

  • What song is that?

  • does opening it up like that void warranty or something?

i've heard mac is pretty strict on like opening your macs n stuff.

  • no it doesnt ive opened my mac all the time.

  • not really i swapped the hdd with a faulty superdrive and they didnt care BUT this was a 17'' unibody

  • what kind of ram do i need

    ?thanks peace

  • cover the 17'' unibody 17'' because my non unibody 17'' was replaced for a 17'' unibody

  • I couldn't watch this video, I was too busy dancing to the music.

    Almost dropped my Macbook 13.

  • LOL I thought I was the only one...

  • :) lol, comments like this make my day ;)

  • Same! :]

  • @justinaurelius same with me but i drop it

  • @adolfozee

    damn, me to :D lool

  • @justinaurelius hahaaa, dancing with air?

  • i have 4 gigs in my mbp right now, i have not opened it up yet but can i go to 8 or do u think all there is inside are 2 2gig ram cards? i would like to hit 8 or 6 at least. what can a mbp handle

  • GeneralChurch

It depends on what Macbook Pro you have:

CoreDuo models can handle 2GB, while Core2duo (January 2006 - Middle of 2007) can handle 3GB. The ones from late 2007 - 2008 can handle 4GB. The newer ones can handle 6GB (I think).

  • i got mine august 2008 i have 4 gigs inside of it currently so i can only max out at 4 then? dang i wanted more :( lol guess i will buy another mac!

  • The newest models support 8gb of RAM

  • @EricApproves Big Question: So Even my late 2006 Macbook Pro has two slots, there`s no way It can handle 4 GB? just 3GB ?

  • 4 tops im pretty sure

  • 667mhz for this one unibody DDR3

  • whats the song??

  • Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that the MacBook Pro is a laptop?

Just because it's an Apple Computer doesn't mean you can push a button and the computer will come to life, spit out the old RAM, and eat the new RAM.

  • Except that it doesn't....

  • WOW! It really doesn't!

  • ok. im new to this mac stuff.. im still a pc user, but i will definatively switch to the mac. i have to open my pc at least 2 times a month..alway fixing something.. well, f--- that.

i am still considering which one to buy, macbook pro or mac pro.. i will do the audio production on this baby so i am wondering how much RAM can you put into macbook pro and macpro.. how much do you think its enough for audio production.. if you run logic or steinberg cubase, ableton, pro tools?

    thanks,

    deep

  • get a macbook pro definatly and u could probobly put 4 gigs in it and 2.66ghz will be sweeeeeeeeeet

im gettin a macbook next year

  • i decided to buy mac pro 2,26 nehalem :-)

  • good 4 u! let me know when u get it and i can't wait till i get my mackbook next year!!

    there awsome

  • Looks easy

  • Great ! Very helpful and to the point.

Thank you for making this video.

  • super helpful.

    thank you!

  • which RAM does the macbook pro of 02.08 needs? ddr2 or ddr3 and which speed? thx for any answer.

  • ddr3 1066MHz :P

  • Awesome video! If you like tech videos come look at mine.

  • Congratulations.

  • thats Great.

    Vista Sucks.

    Windows Sucks.

  • Your my hero.

  • thanks for that, beats paying the guys at the apple store to do it

  • this doesn't void your warranty or anything?

  • umm no

  • Tht was the most specific video ive ever seen about updraging RAM thanks alot =-). 14,000 thumbs up lol.

  • I have similar question, i now hav MBP 15 inch 2gig ram 250g hard drive and want to upgrade it, what can be done and at what price and with what ease? this video makes it look simple enough but how much would it cost? and if i've 2 1gig cards what can i do with them? thanks in advance

  • Where do you live ill do your upgrade for $30 bucks if you live in the bay area

  • I'm in the uk duke, cheers anyway

  • um..you can't do anything with 2 1 gig RAM. Since you already have 2 GB, you could upgrade to 4 GB. In that case you need to buy 2 sticks of 2 GB compatible RAM. I think it'll cost you about 40-50 pounds. I buy mine off crucial(just google it) but there are other places to get it as well. As for installing, you just follow this video and do it yourself.

  • Cheers dude.

  • My 15" base model came with 2 gigs - does that mean probably 2 1 gig sticks?

  • yeah that is how apple does it.

  • Ur a turd. MAC FOR LIFE

  • Asshole. STFU and take your ignorant gamerboy BS somewhere else.

  • Why is it moronic to buy a computer from Apple?

  • i'm trying to run final cut pro shake 4.1 and AE on 2 gigs. is that bad and what would you say i should get as a upgrade? cause the past few weeks my fan has been screaming like a crying baby and im scarred im gonna make some burn out. also if i take out my current ram will any of my stuff like files or that dissapear?

    thanks

    Nick

  • I love this disco shit in the background....

  • really? did you need the discoteque?

  • Im very gay

  • Awesome song, what's it called?

  • ok so what are good brands that are good and compatible for a macbook pro model similar to the one in the vid i need to know

  • I'm surprised at how much cheaper OWC ram than getting it from Apple. I know it was overpriced, but wow.

  • i got 4 gb of ram for my macbook pro 2.4 GHz for 60$

  • Can I ask where you got that deal from?

  • Frys(dot)com

  • why apple rams cost 300$?

  • cuz they kno people will pay it. It is really over priced i had mine for like 2 moths and stil going great so ya dont buy ram from apple.

  • Does anybody know the Music it has a god beat to it!

  • ANYONE UP? I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO

lovin this video!! leave me a comment Y5

  • is the ram for macbook pro different from the ram of pc notebook?

  • nope.

  • yes, its more picky actually. I took ram back that should have worked because it crashed. The vendor sold ram with the same specs that was labeled for macs.

  • Much easier than I thought, took me just a couple minutes. Thanks for posting this video. BTW used memory from OWC, excellent deal.

  • I just changed the ram on my macbook pro and it was so easy. Thank you so much for the video, very helping.

  • lol so dramatic just swapping out the ram sticks hahaha

  • o foda é achar memória no brasil kkkk

  • isso mesmo...

  • great vid. thankss! very helpful

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Strong work on the vid! Elegant even. I have been trying to find info on how to insert arrows and graphic pointers on a video in iMovie. I think you used that @ 1:10 in the vid. How'd you do it? Also, how'd you get the fast play at the end? Much obliged.

  • I'd be careful on not buying apple ram. cheap ram may run hotter. I bought cheap ram for my mini and it would run the fan on high all the time to deal with the heat. I was pissed off that my mini wasn't quiet anymore.

  • Do you have to used Apple branded ram? or will any RAM with the right type and speed work? Thanks.

  • You don't have to use Apple branded ram. I would suggest OWC memory... found @ macsales

  • What type of ram cards did you use? (Also how big were the cards that you threw in? Could we put 2 8GB ram cards in the Macbook pro? What about a macbook?

  • look on the apple website. 4GB (2x2GB) is you limit with the current MBP. Older ones take a max of either 2GB or 3GB. If your machine takes a max of 3GB then search around for info about DDR and you will find that 4GB is best.

  • ROFL! Good Luck on buying 2 * 8GB SODIMMS!

  • No, you couldnt put 16GB of ram in. The maximum that the Macbook Pro will recognise is 4GB, and this is the same for the newer MacBook models

  • where'd u buy those memory things that u used to replace the 2gb ram?

  • Futureshop?? lol

  • Hey man thanks so much for the response, but the song name and artist that you gave me does not appear to be the correct song. What would be your next choice? ehehe I see your comment that you might have been viewing the wrong vid. let me know.

  • I tried tagging this song with my iPhone and Shazam and it says as well "Bizzy B & Cool Hand Flex - Come Back 2 Me" howeverrrrrrrr that can't be right because it doesn't sound like it at all. If ANYONE knows the name of this song please let us know, I really want it.

  • What a great video, Im upgrading my MBP right now. I love the music, drop me a line to who the artist is.... thanks in advance and thanks for taking the time to share this with the world.

    =)

  • I "think" the song is Come Back 2 Me by Bizzy B & Cool Hand Flex.

  • Nevermind I posted in wrong vid!

  • dang I want one. but seriously do they really need to cost 2k? I guess if i have to pay that much to get away from windows for good i'll make the plunge.

  • there 2500 but im gona get a macbook pro new for half that price!!!

  • You can get the baseline Macbook Pro 15.4" with 2.4 gig processor and 200 gig HD for $2000, which is what I'm picking up myself on Monday. The difference in processor speed is not even noticeable, and you can upgrade the HD eventually if you need to.

  • already done it. picked up my MBP 15" 2.4 just last week. Im loving it!! Everything seems so seamless with it. Why the hell have I ever bothered using windows half my life is beyond me. anyways yes its expensive but its an investment and it is worth it? Yes. It still will be when Im ready to sell it in 3 years for an upgrade MBP. I think Id like to get more ram. but do you think 4 gig is a little excessive? I'll eventually be using my mac for photoshop with extended desktop monitor.

  • atually its 2.5 gigs and if you get it refurbished its $1700 dollars

  • actually you're right, my bad, the baseline model is 2.4 ghz sorry, but anyways, u can get it for $1700 refurbished

  • there is also a difference in the graphics card which is 512 in the 2.5 version and only 256 in the 2.4. also the 2.4 only has 3 MB cache istead of 6 and has 50GB storage. so with all that said, there is a difference

  • what RAM is the best for a MacBookPro 17 inch just got mine today and want to upgrade to 4 gb so please anyone know a good place to buy RAM i would love to know or if i am safer just buying the Apple RAM?

  • crucial com

  • Will apple care still cover a computer if you do this?

  • it should i dont see y not...read and check to see if it does i mean it should cause RAM does need to be replace sometimes

  • Hey! nice detailed and simple tutorial!

These kind of things come in handy when you aren't sure exactly, really easy to follow and understand :D
