One of the most amazing performing artists of our time. TOOL is like the X and Y generation's version of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Yet the band members have stated on numerous occasions that they draw their heavy influences from prog experimentalists King Crimson. I can't wait 'til the new album comes out!!!
I was at this show & it was my first ever Tool show. I'd been listening to Tool for years, but I didn't really know what to expect from a live show. It blew my mind! The energy from both the band and crowd was insane. The only sad things about the show were that Maynard hardly spoke and they didn't play one of my favorite songs, Pushit. But all the same, it was an almost surreal experience. Especially considering it was less than 2 weeks after 9/11. I think it was just the release we all needed.
When a band has songs that sound identicle to their album tracks when played live, you know its a fucking amazing band. Tool is definatly an amazing band.
@bea5ToloG i must agree...but it's still interesting to watch, since Maynard is SO different. I've never seen any other artist act this way with their work. Awesome.
I thought this was a great performance. You can really tell that Maynard's voice had gotten a bit deeper since the Aenima years, but he still pulled it off quite well.
This was great show! I saw them the night before as well in Mass and that was also a great show, but completely different at the same time. The night of this show was the fall solstice and was a beautiful time. I was about 6 feet from that stage...

im sorry but i fucking love tool. but this is a terrible performance because of james being cocky. his singing is out of key just slightly, and he goes a bit out of time and he is standing there wearing these stupid clothes doing these wierd dances when i think the truth is he needs to phocus. i do respecet the fact that it is a fucking hard song to perform live, but come on james. comment back and giv ur thoughts
I watched 90% of the video just looking for something to be wrong. It sounded great. I wouldn't say he was off key, but more along the lines of just choosing the sing the song a little differently. He does that a lot, bot the sake of saving his voice, and just making that performance its own. I don't agree with your complaint about the clothes and dancing. I couldnt care less what he was wearing, and he's simply moving with the music. This is right in line with all of his other performances.
I believe this is the last time they've ever played Eulogy live

Anyone else think some of the visuals look like a 3D rendering of the inside of a colon? Which would be appropriate considering the the album title

Does one mic have effects and the other doesn't?

@M1105X
Yes, he uses two mics, one with heavy distortion and the other normal.
keithLD50 1 year ago
Is Maynard just singing through a mic with an effect or is he singing into something else?

@TheHell2Come when he sings like that he's holding something different than i mic to i wud say he was singing into something else

11 days after 9/11... 11 has such a deep meaning within Tool. 11/11/2011 should be international Tool day.
